The Quarry Restaurant and Lounge is a centuries old building cloaked in history, culture and an authentic sense of region, staying true to cooking with fresh, local ingredients. It was built with the strength and ingenuity of miners, who knew, first-hand, the value of hard-work, dreaming and making things come to fruition.
At the Quarry, you can enjoy small plates like the native lobster sliders, hasselback potato dip or Cape Cod mussels with chorizo. These are seriously small servings, but nothing in the flavor is anything but robust. Follow this with either the Quarry's whole-grilled fish or pan-seared scallops and you will wonder why you've never been to this restaurant in the woods before. Go. Enjoy. Savor. Relax.
First time at The Quarry and we were very please. The restaurant is beautiful. The service was perfect (ask for Ryan!) and the food was fantastic. We started with the figs, which were amazing. The risotto was perfect (and I am a risotto snob) as were the scallops. We will be back often.
All of the south shore knows of the shipyard and hingham square restaurants, and justifiably so. But we are so glad we visited the Quarry Restaurant in south Hingham or the first time in a long while to see how it was faring under the newish ownership. Starting with the cordial greeting at the dining room entrance, the evening was a great success for our group of six on a recent Saturday night. The menu has a wide variety of offerings and all of us were quite satisfied. The Osso Buco and the whole grilled snapper were particularly delicious. Our server was very well informed about the choices, how they are prepared and ingredients used. And he made sure we were aware that portions can be ordered in varying sizes. He was informative without being intrusive. The restaurant was full that night but not overly noisy. We will certainly return soon.
Server was very nice and knowledgeable, but spent a little bit to much time talking to everyone and this slowed down the service
Great atmosphere, very impressive cocktail list. Food was great; the apple cider donut sundae is a must! Will definitely be back!
Nothing. Service was spotty, food mediocre and strange vibe.
We visited the Quarry quite early on a Saturday evening. We spent a few minutes in the bar just catching up with friends, then was summoned by the hostess to sit at our table. Our waitress was initially very prompt, informative and friendly. As we ordered our first course we were encouraged to pick our entree as well. We were hopeful that our courses would follow with an appropriate buffer. Our salads came, we had to ask for bread and a few minutes later before we were all finished, our entrees arrived. Now this is one thing that really is disappointing, whether it be the wait staff's fault or not, it throws an enjoyable meal off. After we asked "how does this happen?" our waitress apologized and said she would send the meals back and everything would be "re-fired". Needless to say when our meals arrived that were bearly warm. My hope is that we weren't being rushed out.
The entrees were delishous, but clearly not at their prime. We will be returning at some point, but will make sure we ordered our courses at separate intervals.
The Quarry Restaurant is a true gastronomic delight. Service was excellent during our recent visit. The interior and exterior of the building is both unique and beautiful. There is a extensive wine list or if you prefer a very interesting selection of craft beers and cocktails. We could not have been any happier with our overall experience. We will definitely be back.
We went to the Quarry for the second time per request of the "birthday girl'" The first time we did not enjoy the experience because we felt like the service was moderate at best and the food was overpriced. Unfortunately this time the service was poor - the waiter was rude and when dinner had still not arrived after an hour and a half we asked for the manager. The food magically appeared as the manager approached the table. The manager was as rude if not more obnoxious than the waiter. He did not care to hear that we waited for the drink order - had to ask for bread - was scolded by the waiter for the way "excuse me" was said to him and had to ask for salt and pepper on the table. Under previous management, this restaurant was reliable and enjoyable. Not the case anymore - just don't go!
Had a wonderful meal with great service for a family celebration. The sausage appetizer was wonderful and all of our meals were well cooked and prepared. our server was helpful with choices in dishes and wine. look forward to returning again. the deck is lovely.
I had a bad experience here due to wait staff several months ago. Decided to give it another try for dinner and it was excellent!! Everything from the food to the service to the ambiance!! Highly recommend!
Was looking for something new on South Shore. Had a creative menu, ordered crispy salmon and chicken under brick entrees and three craft cocktails. Service was very attentive. Recommend. A strong upscale dining destination that I'm glad to have learned of.
Amazing drinks, awesome
Sevice, delicious food! Beautiful restaurant. Lobster eggs Benedict had the most delicious tasting sauce and cooked to perfection!
Tanya, our server, was very knowledgeable about the menu and very willing to request a change to the side accompanying the pork chop.
My swordfish was excellent. So was the watermelon salad. They make great drinks here.
Most restaurants I go to I expect high quality across the board, but it's hard to determine the quality of the service unless something goes wrong. That said, we had some issues with the food coming out together and on time, but when my 15 month daughter had a breakdown the manager brought her out ice cream to calm her down... It was fantastic. When the food came out it was delicious. We would definitely go back. And of course, they took care of the appetizers for the inconvenience.
Thank you for such a nice night.
The staff is very professional and knowledgeable.
Our questions were answered immediately, service person was eager to give/obtain accurate responses to guests.
Each course nicely presented.
Would recommend stabilizing the seafood platter serving pieces. A bit wobbly
This was our first visit and we enjoyed it very much. The food was excellent and so was the service.
This was our second time here, the first was when they first opened last year. They have since changed the menu a little and now it is more enjoyable. The food was outstanding once we finally got it. Our server seemed to be one of the only girls working most of the others just stood around talking. But overall it was a good experience.
Attentive service, presentation and quality food. Hope to eat outside next time.
Excellent service. Every employee was warm and welcoming and the food was delicious! Will be returning very soon.
I've developed shellfish allergies as an adult, and the server and chef were very considerate to make sure it would be possible for me to safely enjoy the dining experience. The filet mignon that I had would normally be grilled (on a shared grill with seafood), but it was made in a pan for me, to be extra cautious. Really tender, and downright amazing.
As a fan of creme brulee (and student of trying to perfect making these on my own at home), I had to try the tea-infused creme brulee, and it.was.freaking.incredible. I've had creme brulee from easily 100 different restaurants, and this was by far the best I'd ever had. Super creamy, smooth, and just incredible. Now I'm on a mission to figure out how to make this particular recipe.
I wouldn't hesitate at all to go here again. We ate on the patio outside - the only suggestion I have is to consider adding some propane powered infrared heat lamps on the patio to take the edge off of rapidly falling summer evening temperatures. The view of the still and smooth quarry was a nice touch.
This restaurant is a true hidden gem.
The Quarry has been recently renovated and the results are lovely. Bright, open dining room looking out to a patio and water filled quarry. The menu is small and heavy on seafood but there are great options for everyone. The grilled shrimp and swordfish tacos are on the Small Plates menu and both were excellent. You could easily make a meal out of sharing 2-3 Small Plates. Our entrees - swordfish and a lemon scallop pasta were also delicious. Although higher in the price range, a lovely dining experience and worth it.
The bar is excellent for some pre dinner cocktails. Every drink ingredient is high quality and fresh. Dinner was delicious with good portion size. Desert is enough for two to split. Service was top knotch with servers making excellent recommendations.
We went for brunch on Sunday and the experience was excellent. Good food, great service!
The Fig -Appetizer was to die for. Had Duck for the first time- I am now a huge fan, it has a Cherry Demi glaze (I think that's what it was) , absolutely delicious. We also had the Lobster Brodetto, it was exquisite served in a copper pan, delicious, to finish off , we shared The Cider Doughnut Sunday, this was very well done. The staff was friendly and delightful and there when you needed them... We Will Be Back👌👏
really enjoyed our evening, the menu was amazing, the food great! Our waiter while excellent, was a ting to talkative. I came to visit with our friends, not our waiter. The new owner has improved the restaurant, it is light and airy, the bar has that "cool" vibe. Would we return, it was a solid vote - YES.
I just had my first of what will be many dining experiences at the Quarry. Eight of us gathered there last Saturday night and every appetizer, every meal, and every dessert was delicious. I found the restaurant through Open Table, read the reviews and took my chances. All my friends thanked me over and over again for finding such a great place. We've already selected it for our Christmas get-together, but I'm definitely coming back this summer to sit outside. The waitress was highly knowledgeable, friendly and relaxed. I highly recommend The Quarry.
We were greeted by the chef as we entered the dining room. The dining room had been done over and was nice and bright . We sat outside on their new patio overlooking an old stone quarry. Waitress was great I love a restaurant where the waitress / Waiter knows how to serve a table and their guest properly. One of the big reasons we go out to dinner to be served . The other reason is the food and my wife's fillet melted in her mouth and my duck was perfect. Very pleasant experience we will be back.
Went here to celebrate our son's 30th birthday. We were very surprised that, at 6:45pm, there was not many people in the restaurant. We chose to have a drink at the bar first and then we were seated at a great table next to the window overlooking the quarry. Our waiter was great - came over quickly, explained the night's specials, filled our water, and took wonderful care of us the entire night. Food is very good and everyone raved about their selections. The night was excellent but very pricey. It is only a place that we would go to celebrate something very special.
The overall ambiance was quite pleasant and relaxing. The service was top notch. Everyone in our party of four tried different dishes and all were completely satisfied. I think we all found deserts on the menu so we could stay a bit longer. It can be a bit pricey, but is definitely worth it for a special occasion. We will definitely be back again.
Although we just had lunch I would definitely return for dinner. I love to go out for dinner to a restaurant that uses real white tablecloths. I'm spending money and it makes me feel special. Some restaurants think they are being green by using paper on top of the table cloth but how many trees are cut down to provide the paper. I got sidetracked. The service was great as well as the food. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Waiter never told us prices of specials. Would NOT have ordered 1 of our meals if knew how costly it was! I prefer menus with a specials list and prices separate . Otherwise, food and service were outstanding !
I have visited here before and was v impressed so I wanted to bring a few friends. We all had a wonderful evening. We had Lauren as our server. She was terrific; attentive and patient with a lovely demeanor. Dave was the mixologist and did a wonderful job with the cocktails. He also had a good knowledge of wines and recommend a wine (within our price range) that we liked & my friend absolutely loved. We shared a few appetizers and then each chose something different as an entree. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I completed my experience with an Irish coffee others chose Creme Brûlée. Lovely.
We left the dining area to socialize more in the sunken bar area where Dave continued to inspire us with his expertise.
BArtender was very knowlegable and fun to watch. He made a great wine selection for the price range that we provided to him. Food was very good. We had the stuffed figs and caparse. Swordfish was excellent as well as the scallops and pasta. I have driven by this resturant many times and was definitely worth the trip and would go back again..
We chose the Quarry to celebrate our anniversary - it was local and had great reviews. We were not disappointed! The cocktails were wonderfully done, the food inspired, and the service was great. We had such a lovely time and can't wait to go back!
Enjoyed a great Mother's Day family brunch. Interesting menu selections kept everyone happy. Liked commitment to use local food sources. Only weak spot was the Bloody Mary and Mimosa Bar -- Bloody Mary's were too "trendy" with ingredients and no one thought they tasted good. Stick to the basics on the drinks.
Although our most recent visit was to celebrate a special occasion (the 6th anniversary of my 11-year-old son's adoption), we often visit The Quarry with no special occasion in mind. I dream about the lemon pasta with scallops, but enjoy many of the other menu items as well. My only wish would be that portions were a bit smaller so that I could enjoy 3 in one sitting (I'm too full after a starter and entree for one of their wonderful desserts).
The Quarry is one of my go-to places for a delicious dinner with friends locally. Although everything is tasty, my personal favorites are the duck (both the appetizer and the dinner) and the rack of lamb. The service is wonderful - my friend spilled his water and instead of placing a dry napkin on top they actually changed the entire tablecloth! In addition the bartender has always come to the table when we have had questions whether it is about the wine this time or my new favorite drink made with St. Germaine.
Great food. Service providers were outstanding
We were invited to the restaurant by a friend who recommended the restaurant and joined us. From the outset, our experience was great. The hostess honored our advance request for a quiet table. Our friend requested an unusual cocktail which the bartender prepared expertly. Our server, Taylor, was guided us through our menu selections and wine choices with patience and expertise. We enjoyed everything. The mussels and the scallops were good starters. The duck on the regular menu was excellent and fork tender, accompanied by a perfect pairing of fig and port risotto. The special of rack of lamb was not only generous but not lamby and prepared rare as requested. All in all a delightful evening.
