The Putterham Grille Ratings and Reviews
The restaurant isn't much to look at aside from many framed pictures of runners as the decor but the food is surprisingly good. We each had a different entree which were more than generous and one person had soup which got high marks. Three of us took home leftovers which was great for another meal. We'll be back!
The food was very good . . . but -
My friend arrived early and was seated, but no water or menu until I arrived 10 minutes later.
Tried to order one of the specials and they were out. It would have been nice if they mentioned it a few minutes earlier when they brought the menus.
It took one hour from the time we ordered until our food appeared. The waiter brought us bread five minutes before the food appeared.
We won't be eating here again.
This was our first time at PItterham Grill and it was delicious! We had the lemon- balsamic salmon over quinoa and blue cheese steak both prepared to order, tender and tasty. The quinoa could have been warmer. Desert was a warm rice pudding with fresh cinnamon. Very nice. Wait staff, music and ambience casual and a friendly.
Great food again at Putterham Grille...Great Greek dips and pita bread for an appetizer. Then delicious blue cheese crusted steak with wonderful fries with a garlic flair followed by the best Greek milk pie dessert (galaktoboureko). Very satisfying and dependable food with friendly service.
Great place to meet up for lunch! We arrived at 11:15 and they had just opened. Nevertheless, they were up and ready to go. Lots of choices! We had a turkey club and falafel with salad. Food was fresh and very good. Nice service too! Interesting to see they have what looks to be a big take-out service.
We went on a Thursday night. food was outstanding - some dietary restrictions in our family and the chef came out to speak to us regarding the food options. Server was courteous and friendly.
Only beer and wine served but that's what our dinner party likes. Dessert menu of cheese cake and baklava was excellent along with our espresso.
Made reservations for 7:30, showed up right on time. We were asked if we wanted a table in the center of the room or wanted to wait for a booth. We said we would wait. Another group of 4 came in right after us. In a few minutes a group left from a booth and the hostess had the table set. To our amazement, the group that came in after us was seated. The hostess the came to explain that we would be next, to which I stated that it was unacceptable for us to be seated after the group that came in after us. Both groups had reservations, so all things equal, there is no explanation that I can think of other than that they favored the other group. I told her that we would be leaving to eat somewhere else, at which point she started to try and explain how they would 'fix' it. I turned to the man behind the counter and asked him if he was the owner, which he said he was. I then quickly told him what happened and we left. At the end of the day, it may not matter much but we will be sure not to return.
I have been to Putterham Grille several times and always find the food to be fresh and creative.
If you like Greek food, the cuisine is really great all the way to dessert with the best galactomboureko I have found in Massachusetts (warm custard in phyllo dough). The non-Greek alternatives are also excellent including the sliced steak and their spinach and mushroom pizza with truffle oil. Just a solid choice for casual dining with delicious food and where you can talk quietly and be heard.
My wife and I took my (elderly) mother to Putterham Grille for Valentine's Day. Did not know about the special fixed-price menu for the holiday, but that was fine - plenty to choose from and a reasonable price.
The food was fantastic! Choices were interesting - mom is picky and she loved her filet mignon - I was more adventurous and enjoyed my tuna tartare. First courses were interesting and generous; dessert was also varied and, well, delicious.
Did I say the food was fantastic? Wide menu range; creatively prepared; beautifully presented; an amazing meal.
The service, unfortunately, was quite slow. We were there to talk and celebrate, but it took easily 20 minutes to flag down a waiter for even the first round of drinks. We were not in a hurry, but the appetizer was not served for an hour (I checked my watch). It is a small place and was not full, so it is not clear why the start to the meal was so s-l-o-w. It proceeded at a pace after the plates were cleared from the yummy appetizers (which could have been a meal) but these guys can do better.
I rarely write reviews but we so enjoy the location and character and potential of this jewel we want it to be successful and hope that this helps.
The chef of this restaurant deserves more than the location allows. What a special find where everything is fresh and made from scratch. Great soups, but my favorite is the spanikopita and the Horiatiki Salad with their Chicken kebob. The marinade is yummy! Rice pudding is also a winner
Went here on an impromptu double date night because they had reservations available. Atmosphere and ambiance are very appealing and the menu looks great. However, our food took double the amount of time it should have to arrive. Very annoying. My butternut squash ravioli was so sweet it was nearly inedible and everyone else's entrees were "meh." The waiter was initially friendly but then was a little too defensive about the food wait time and not following a request for no cheese on a salad. Overall, just ok.
