The Pump House
Great menu mix and solid attentive service. Scallops are a winner
Good wait staff and solid food in a historic setting on the Chena river
Sunday brunch at the Pump House is a MUST. They have such a large selection of foods. I have yet to try something that doesn't taste amazing. I would highly recommend this restaurant to a friend!
The first time we came, we were just "walk-ins" without reservations. We were told it would be an hour wait unless we wanted the bar. We managed to find spots in the bar and the service was great, food was wonderful and the atmosphere really nice. This time, we made reservations thinking it would be even better. The waitress took well over ten to fifteen minutes just to come to our table, service was far and few between with both of us waiting long periods of time without drinks. Interestingly, it seemed much more busy, rushed and loud, yet it seemed much less busy than our first visit. The food was good and the ambience was okay, but the service/noise/ambience in the bar area was way superior. Plus it seemed more relaxed and less rushing/running around from staff. I think we won't do reservations again but rather stick with the bar side.
Great food. Our table was ready when we got there (had reservations). Great brunch selection for the whole family.
Sunday brunch is one of our favourite treats! Definitely the best one in town!
We were visiting Alaska for our 10 year wedding anniversary. Booked the Pump House for dinner. It looked amazing and welcoming however, the waiter was very rude and had no people skills. He told us what we should order and we would not be able to eat.
He scolded us saying he hates when people waste food when we didn't want to finish the overcooked and under-seasoned smoked salmon. He wouldn't make any adjustments to our appetizer (we wanted cooked oysters instead of raw).
We ordered the mix grill to share and received some kind of steak with broccoli and sweet potato. All of which were bland. All together we had 2 drinks, the seafood sample, and the "mix grill" for over $100. We will not be returning to the Pump House and we've shared the sad experience with our friends and family.
Great service & excellent food !
All our salmon dishes were very tasty and cooked perfectly. I also love the steamed garlic clam and deer sausage.
I had been to the Pump House 24 years earlier and enjoyed the best Halibut ever. I returned yesterday and enjoyed an excellent halibut again. It has remained one of the best restaurants in Fairbanks. Go. You will not be disappointed. Larry
The food was fresh and flavorful. We had 4 in our party and we all ordered something different. We all said it was the best meal we have had on the land portion of our vacation in Alaska. The Crab Mac and Cheese appetizer is a must get!
Nice place. Huge portions, so split an entree. Rustic feel, busy place, make a reservation. Our server wasn’t having a good day, but good place nonetheless.
Milan was our waiter and he was amazing. The food was top notch as always and I always recommend this restaurant to others.
This was the first time I have been to the Pump House. It was more than I expected. The atmosphere was great. The wait staff was attentive and friendly but not intrusive. This is the best service I have had in my overall experience in Fairbanks dining. Our meals were outstanding, beautifully presented and more tasty than I expected. My overall experience was 10 out of 10!! Best restaurant in Fairbanks.
We’ve visited Fairbanks several times. And we’ll eat here everyday. Great food, cold beer and amazing desserts. Jenna is an wonderful server and made our visit a fun experience
Great brunch is the best deal of the week! There’s a great variety of breakfast, lunch, fruit and desserts! Definitely save room for dessert!
Amazing menu, excellent service, presentation and environment.
Tired of making reservations at this restaurant and getting shoved in a crappy table that doesn’t comfortably fit my party. I could understand if I made last minute plans and reservations but I made them 3 days ago. Not asking for special treatment just some proper planning from the staff.
Great place to start our search for authentic Alaskan food. Food was good and wine list was very reasonable. Must get the Salmon or Halibut.....local greats!
Atmosphere was great....we felt as if we had stepped on to the set of 'Northern Exposure'.
Returned to Alaska after being gone for 10 years and the food and service was still as great as I remembered. I also had 2 new personnel in my party that had never been to Alaska and they loved the food!!
We loved this place so much we went 2 days in a row for our 2-night stay in Fairbanks! Easily the best seafood chowder I’ve ever eaten, the crab cakes special was to die for. We had the same lovely server (Sarah) both nights, she was friendly and attentive. I would happily recommend the Pump House to anyone wNting a great dinner in Fairbanks.
Very nice restaurant with patio seating. Food was plentiful and tasty. We had the seafood platter for 2 in addition to our cup of soup as a starter. It was too much for both of us. If we were to know how large is the platter, we probably would skip the soup and bread. In general, excellent choice for casual dinner but pricy. Quite noisy and minimal privacy, would not recommend for a date or romantic evening.
On vacation with son and father. Our Alaskan trip was amazing and finding this gem of a restaurant made our trip that much more memorable. Was lucky enough to find time to eat at this establishment two nights. Great meals and service as expected. Thank you to management and both waiters who served us those nights. Very professional and on point with whatever we needed.
Lazar was an excellent waiter. Great food. What a way to start a vacation.
Worth the drive, waitress was friendly and gave great service. Fish was exceptional as were the ribs abd dessert.
Loved the decor!!
This is our first visit to this restaurant. Found this via google search and it was highly recommended. We asked a few locals about this establishment and they all recommended this restaurant as well. The food and service were excellent and the prices were reasonable.
We had a phenomenal dinner here to celebrate the last night of our honeymoon. Our waiter was helpful, attentive, and very accommodating for any requests or questions we had. It gives a strong nod to the rich history of the Fairbanks area in the building and decor, but tastefully. Not a cheap dinner, but pretty much worth every penny.
When reality fails to live up to the promise disappointment ensues. Beautiful locations, wonderful atmosphere, delightful staff but some of the food was disastrous. Specifically the crab salad was awful. The crab was so old that the taste was foul, the eggs were overcooked and dry, the lettuce was wilted. Overall it was inedible. The imbalance between everything else this beautiful restaurant has to offer and the actual dining was a total bummer. Maybe just don't order the crab?
We were visiting Fairbanks from a Reno, NV. The Pump House was recommended. We found the food and the entire experience outstanding. We would recommend the Pump House to anyone.
Wonderful experience. Food was excellent, reasonably priced, and Service great!
Had King Crab legs, and it was great, also had the meatloaf with mashie and gravy, very tasty!
We enjoyed the food; Ther device was great! The dessert tray was excellent
Our B and B hostess recommended the pump house. We enjoyed it so much we came back the next night. Steak and red deer were both excellent. The crab salad and spinach salad also were good. The creme brûlée and strawberry crisp were a great ending to a great meal. Staff are friendly, efficient and not over bearing. Prices are what we expected for fine dining in Fairbanks
The Pump house was a great find. Rich history to the area and now a great restaurant. Great seafood, we enjoyed the Halibut. Definite place to go in Fairbanks!
Absolutely the best food in the Fairbanks area. The service is great, cocktails are good, and the food can’t be beat!
The mesl was great, but the desert was outstanding! Our server be took great care of our party of 8. We will visit sgsin on our next visit to Fairbanks.
The meals and desserts were wonderful. The fried oysters I wouldn't get again, too much batter and you couldn't taste them. The oysters on the half shell were amazing!
Food was excellent. They brought the children's food out first, which was very good to keep them busy. The adults food took quite a bit longer, but was excellent and worth the wait.
Very nice restaurant with a great view of the Chena River. When making reservations request outside seating.
The Pumphouse was a very nice place with a great view of the river. We had to wait 1 hour even though we had an open table reservation. Had a nice appetizer. Didn't get to have dinner as they had a power failure.
