The Prune and Bar One Fifty One offers contemporary Canadian cuisine that celebrates the bounty of local producers and growers. There are separate menus for each and they are equally as good as the other. The dining room menu is also available in the bar. The wine program showcases boutique labels from both local and international growers, and our front-of-house team offers elevated service in a casually elegant style. Our newly renovated and cosmopolitan inspired Bar One Fifty One located inside The Prune provides guests with a full bar, a delicately created and unique cocktail list, wine and craft beer selections as well as a deliciously crafted food menu to pair with your drink of choice. We went to the Prune for our wedding anniversary, prior to seeing a show. The service there was top-notch. We each had the 3 course meal. I had the albacore while my husband had the scallops. Both were absolutely delicious. The server brought us complimentary champagne during our appetizer, to help us celebrate. There was a watermelon gazpacho as a palate cleanser, before our meals. My husband had the lamb while I had the trout. Both were good, although not as amazing as the appetizers were. For dessert, I had the raspberry shortcake which was fantastic. My husband had the dark chocolate tort, which was just okay for him (note that the chocolate was more unsweetened than he preferred). After our dessert, the server brought over complimentary baklava, with Happy Anniversary written on the plate. Overall, it was a fantastic meal. It's not inexpensive though, as with wine and tip, our bill topped $300. But, for a special occasion, I would highly recommend the Prune!

Converted house with extension at the back to create a good ambiance. Food quality is excellent and staff ratio is very good, and attentive. Good for pre/post theatre.

The Prune is not pretentious but the food is upscale. If you want a 16 oz. steak and fries, this place is not for you. However if you want unique fair with a flair then give it a try. That is why we go to the Prune when we are in town. There was a delicious cocktail that was different from the usual. It was made with passion fruit. I had the chicken liver mousse with brioche and a relish which was just a touch of sweetness. (Sorry can't remember what it was) for starters and for the main I tried skate for the first time accompanied by a lovely reisling. All was delicious. No room for dessert. Service was attentive yet not intrusive , informative and friendly. Great dinner as always.

Three friends have make an annual trip to Stratford from Toronto for a play and Rundels dinner for over 10 years. This year we discovered that Rundels was no more and had to find a new restaurant. I admit we did not think we would find anything we would like as much as Rundels but you proved us wrong. The space was lovely. As was the staff. They were friendly and informative but not intrusive. The food was amazing. We have found our new tradition and hope to eat at the Prune for at least then next 10 years. Thanks for a lovely evening.

Special dinner for our anniversary. We each had a 3 course dinner with wine pairings. Every course was excellent for both of us. Wines were well matched to the food, and most were kinds not generally available. Staff were friendly and helpful. Prompt service but never rushed. Fairly expensive but worth it.

The Prune, formerly The Old Prune, has always been one of my favorite restaurants in Stratford. Under current management the restaurant has even improved on its on its excellent past. The warm friendly staff and the quality of the food made this a truly enjoyable experience and the best meal we had during our recent stay.

It was an extremely disappointing evening. The evening began with a positive tone as the wine was good and my wife's soup was very tasty although my beet salade was a bit 'soggy'. We were asked if we would like some bread and said okay...no idea that we would be charged for it. My beef was good but my wife's salmon was tasteless and the mix of vegetables was weird. Our servers tried hard but it was obvious they had no clue about the menu. When I got the bill and found out I had been charged $8 for bread, some pickles and a small amount of yogurt I almost lost it. Overall it was a poor experience. Not only would I not recommend this restaurant to anyone, I would tell anyone I know to avoid it and try one of the other wonderful restaurants in Stratford.

to be clear ...I have never written a negative review of any of the hundreds of restaurants I have been to across North America

We look forward to our meal at the Prune every year we come to Stratford. One of the many reasons the 8-hour drive from Chicago is worth it! The timing was perfect and portion sizes just right before you go sit in a theater for 2.5 hours. Can't wait to be back next year!
