Excellent service and the food was amazing. Would highly recommend it!!!
Disappointing that they ran out of their very own gin - which was advertised on the chalk board outside and on the menu. Otherwise very happy with our meal
Really nice decor, good steaks and a good drinks list. Nothing to complain about!
Traveling - daughters birthday
Food was good. Foil found in one of the dishes... apology was accepted, but no discount applied - not the usual standard of service I'm used to in a more up market restaurant. Service was slow at times, but not awful. Waited for almost half an hour on the bill. I don't like to draw attention to these things with waiting staff, but I'd had enough of the waiting. So I had to be fairly abrupt. Wasn't asked if we required more drinks after pudding and a quick toilet break. I wouldn't go back based on the service, but the food was good.
Excellent food and service. Ambience was excellent. If ordering water ensure you order tap otherwise £3.50 a bottle.
Delicious dinner on a Friday nite, last in Edinburgh. Had cider and a chicken, leek, mushroom, chestnut pie, presented with open moth ceramic black bird in center!
Very nice atmosphere, service, and experience!
Unfortunately pie left no room for dessert!
Lively, large bar with comfy chairs and Mocktails are great for drivers, classy intetesting decor, great food eg truffle chips! Love it
Absolutely fantastic atmosphere !l! Food was served efficiently hot and looked good on the eye !!! All our food was of good quality hot and very very tasty xx very reasonable in price with such a gorgeous room . Waitress was very attentive and informative x
Overall THE lunch was good. Waitresses very kind. THE soup was luke warm so needed to be send back. The end of the restaurant was quite drafty because of air conditioning. Waitress found us a better table. Why are the loos so low??
Had a lovely meal with my best friend when we were up in Edinburgh for the festival. Nice venue
Had a really lovely dinner at the restaurant. The atmosphere was great, not too noisy but still buzzing. Had a main and dessert, both very tasty but wouldn't have minded a bit more mash and a few green bits like beans, broccoli, tomatoes or something...
I would definitely consider going back next time I am in Edinburgh. As a tour leader, I would say this would also be a good option for groups.
Four of us had lunch for a special occasion. The food was very good, particularly the smoked haggis starter and the sea bream. The only downside was the service - when we were seated and when we asked to have sweets, we were only handed the a la carte menu and I had to ask for the lunch menu on both occasions.
Very nice meal at The Printing Press. It's quite casual so don't expect Michelin stars, but the food is very tasty. I had the gnocchi and my friend risotto (both vegetarian options). Both were good but I felt a bit hard done by with my gnocchi as it was a relatively small portion. Good to see some more inventive vegetarian options. Service was very good. The restaurant is part of a hotel and there is a bar at the front and a function room downstairs (wedding on when I was there) so you do feel a bit as if you're in the middle of a bigger occasion. If you want to avoid this ask for a table at the back away from the bar.
The food was unimpressive, but not actually bad. The ambiance was alright. We went there because it was convenient. We do not recommend this restaurant.
Great! Their lunch menu is a real deal
Thoroughly enjoyed the evening here. Food was fabulous and our waitress was super. Very attentive.
A great dining experience and one which i have already told my friends about.
I have booked twice now through Open Table and both times the restaurant has not been expecting us! The reservation didn't seem to have been passed on. Lucky on both occasions the restaurant was able to accommodate us.
Otherwise, again, a great night. Thanks.
Great building and décor. The service was good, but not special.
I thought the food was a little overpriced and the portions were too small. However the food tasted good although my fish slightly overcooked. This was acknowledged well and they removed a charge for dessert which was appreciated.
An excellent venue to catch-up with friends over dinner. The service was warm and friendly, and our three courses were each very good indeed - high quality, very tasty and beautifully presented. Very enjoyable all round.
The restaurant oozes charm and character. We were a little worried with having children there but it was relaxed and children's meal was excellent value. However I would have prefer chips not to have been salted. Our meals were delicious and not the cheapest option but food was very high standard and glad we tried it. If we ever go back to Edinburgh we will return and definitely recommend to others.
I had done the booking via open table. My friends arrived before me and they were told there was no booking so they were given a relatively bad table just at the door. When I arrived and show my email of confirmed booking their reaction was 'ooooh that's OpenTable booking that's a different system. We have two booking systems'. I thought that was a lame excuse not even an apology! Anyway we didn't want to allow that to ruin our mood. We sat our given table and ordered our food. Both starters and mains were average. Especially mains were too small they could easily be called starters. It took three different waiters to get our tea and coffee orders right after 15 minutes of wait. Overall it was a disappointing experience.
Service was slow, food terrible and gluten free choices not indicated on menu
Small portions, food mediocre. Nice surroundings. Two mistakes with meal order. Expensive for what it is, but convenient location and lots of space within it.
Explored menu - good results - first class overall !
Food was very good and the service excellent. Thought it had a nice feel
The food, the service, and the atmosphere were exactly what we were looking for during our visit to Edinburgh! We'd definitely come back!
Food was very nice and hood value for money. Slightly louder atmosphere, but overall very nice experience.
The highlight of the evening was the Langoustine Thermidor tart starter - which was delicious. However the ambience and the choice of menu options for the main course were a little disappointing (have never seen Mince and Potatoes on a good restaurant menu). Bar drinks very expensive.
Won't be rushing back.
Really nice over all experience and very much up to my expectations. Food was very good and service very friendly. I won't hesitate to return we definitely enjoyed it.
Sadly I can't recommend this restaurant in its current state.
I appreciate that its relatively new and with new staff (one of the waitresses stated clearly to us it was her first day) but there were fundamental flaws in service which can't be excused.
The food itself was good but not exceptional - bill for two people was just short of £120 and I didn't feel I'd had good value.
May get better over time however very disappointed in my visit.
Desserts great! Service efficient and pleasant . Will definitely visit shsin
Steaks cooked to perfection, and all enjoyed the meal and drinks.
Very reasonable value
Service. Delicious food.
Very good food and attentive waiting staff. Menu is limited - but quality excellent. Wine menu is very limited, and quite jumbled up (not listed by country/region) so was difficult to find the right wine to pair with our meal.
The food was really good - traditional Scottish with a twist. I had mince and tatties which was truly yummy. The service was exceptional - our waiter showed a really good knowledge of the dishes on the menu, which he shared with enthusiasm. A wee bit lacking in atmosphere, but probably just because it was early evening on a Tuesday. I would recommend the Printing Press 😄
The venue, service and evening was fantastic. The food was amazing except for the mince and tatties which was so ridiculously rich, no one at the table could have more than one mouthful. The sausage roll was the best ever - simple but delicious.
Disappointingly limited menu. Pub grub. Pity: such a lovely venue.
Delicious food, gorgeously decorated and luxurious to the hilt.
Booked through OpenTable about an hour before showing up at the restaurant. Noone knew about the reservation (OpenTable's fault), and the place was full but they sat us in the bar area which was fine. Attentive and friendly service, the menu contained some nice innovative twists using local produce. Nothing spectacular but it was competent and decent value compared with other fine dining options in town. Nice buzz about the place during those cold winter evenings.
