The Prime Rib is a throwback to the old days of classy elegant dinning. The food is outstanding and the service superb.
As always it was excellent. The food , service and atmosphere were consistently superb.
Whenever we dine at The Prime Rib, it never fails to impress us. The moment we step out of our car at the valet parking stand, the incredible service begins. Expect to be greeted at the door by the maitre d', who guides you to the beautiful bar or to your table. Cocktails are classic and generous. The polished wait staff is friendly and knows just when to offer assistance or when to allow you space to enjoy a quiet conversation. My husband chose the prime rib; I opted for one of the daily specials, filet Oscar. Both were prepared perfectly. The side dishes are meant to share. We chose the augratin potatoes, which were wonderful. Coffee and dessert were enjoyed while listening to the nightly jazz piano. The service, ambiance, and food are excellent. What a great place for a celebratory dinner!
Service was outstanding. Server was charismatic, helpful, efficient. The food was spectacular. I have nothing negative to say. From beginning to end the evening was perfect in every way.
The food was outstanding. The service was excellent and they were quite accommodating to a child.
Everyone should make a point to eat at The Prime Rib while in Washington D.C. It is the quintessential steak house complete with exquisite service and attention to detail. The menu is well rounded and the staff is accommodating.
Fantastic as always
The restaurant was amazing. The service was impeccable. The food mouth watering. I had the jumbo crab cakes. The richness can't be matched. The watermelon martini was refreshing and tasty.
There is a reason this place has been opened and survived since the 70's. Food, hospitality, just an overall amazing attention to detail.
First time diners at this prime establishment. The service was impeccable. The drinks were very good. The appetizers were also very good. The dessert and coffees were excellent. The steaks were OK. Very expensive, but we knew that going in.
We were looking for a place to celebrate my wife's birthday. We read the reviews and decided to give it a try. We did not realize that a jacket was required and that was off putting to start the night. Justin was our server and he impressed my wife with his explanation of the menu. She chose the rack of lamb and it was perfect. The artichokes left something to be desired. Her escargot was wonderful as well. My soup was very good. I ordered the filet and was suprised that it was just OK. My wifes lamb was better by far. My steak was cooked properly just not seasoned at all. We ordered cheesecake for dessert and it was a good end to the meal.
Overall the experience was good. We were not wowed though.
The food and service at The Prime Rib are hard to beat. It is very much a class operation. The NY Strip was about the best I've ever had. The service is unparalleled. The only drawback is the cost. All menu items are al a carte and very pricy. However, a great place to go on a special occasion unless money is not an issue.
I can say after decades of dining here, this is still my favorite special occasion dinner venue. Excellent service, fine food prepared the way you like, well made cocktails and nice ambience with a piano player.
Birthday! Our favorite DC restaurant since 1981:). We love everything about The Prime Rib on K Street❤️🥂
The Prime Rib remains the best steak house in town....and the fish is also fabulous. Fabulous decor still fresh after all these years...and the piano player leaves you humming long after you leave. Service is impeccable.
Very nice quiet table in corner. Piano player was great. Waiter forgot to bring out appetizers before main dish. Had to take it all back. He said they would make everything over again. Rest of meal uneventful.
Wanted to try for sometime now, I never should have waited so long. The whole evening was outstanding. From the cocktails to the dessert it was lovely. It was a Friday evening and we had a 2 top that was out of the way. The piano music was so nice in the background. The food was expertly prepared. The salads were so good, perfect amount of dressing. The nice warm breads were very hard to resist. We both had seafood both very good. Coffee, Tea, Dessert. What a great evening. Thank you all for a wonderful meal.
Love the Rib and the people that work there . My favorite in DC for 25 + uears
Very good steak and potato skins! Great service!
The Prime Rib never disappoints. The food is always great and the service very professional.
A good location. Restaurant was not full at lunchtime. Old timers enjoyed singing with the pianist - something I've not seen in a long while. Nice atmosphere.
Wonderful prime rib, great waiter.
Our waiter was very attentive and very pleasant
Have been there many times over the last 30 years. This visit the food was excellent except for my baked potato which was over cooked and had an old burnt taste to it so I sent it back. The service was nice when the waiter was available but he would disappear for extended periods of time. We always eat prime rib at the Prime Rib and it didn't disappoint. A little pricy.
Enjoyed the experience. Waiter was friendly and humorous. The steaks were excellent. Great restaurant for special occasions.
Lovely restaurant. Have been coming here for years and it is consistently wonderful service and excellent food.
A friend recommended this restaurant while we were in DC. I was expecting something great, however we were disappointed with the quality of the food. Our steak was overcooked; prime rib was good, but not the best I have ever had.
Overall, it was an ok place- not sold on the steaks by any means...
Sides were ok, but relatively cold.
Ask for the ribeye and the lobster chopped
Old school ambience; professional, traditional wait service; generous wine pour; of course, food is the key - melt in mouth prime rib, top-drawer crab cakes, good selection of sides.
The Prime Rib is the Best.
We are always greeted with a smile and a welcome from John.
Service is efficient and polite.
The prime rib is the best in town. If you are not into beef, the seafood is very good.
At lunch Dan Ruskin plays the grand Piano. His music can’t be beat. We love it. We arrive at 12 and stay till 2 so that we can enjoy every song.
This is one of our long time favorite restaurants.
We were a small group getting together for a special event. Most of us have not seen each other in over a decade and our lunch turned into an afternoon of drinks and conversation. Everyone had a spectacular time and no one made us feel we needed to leave. Capped by owner stopping by for a visit and buying a round for the table. Classy establishment and would not hesitate to go again for special event or evening out with my wife.
I took my epicurean godson there. Our dinner was very good. we ordered the New York strip and their signature prime rib, then shared each. We both agreed that the NY strip was among the most flavorful steaks we've had. The prime rib, while well portioned and perfectly done medium rare-to-rare was a disappointment. This is their signature dish, yet i have had more flavorful cuts of prime rib at other restaurants, most notably Arties, in Fairfax, VA. The artichoke side dish was very good. We brought our own wine.
Excellent all around!!!
The Prime Rib has been a favorite restaurant for several years!
I really enjoyed my dinner. My prime rib was amazing.
Rib eye was too thin, not properly cooked. The steak knife was dull. Ordered a diet Coke, tasted like bar sterilizer ( wash water ) , lobster bisque, sauteed spinach, and potato dish was excellent. Grilled Chilean seabass was at best. only so so.. have had FAR better. I could have done ten times better cooking the steak and fish myself at home.
Great downtown DC restaurant.
Exceptionally exquisite atmosphere with great service and food.
