The house salad was good but not as good as it used to be (of course I’m talking 10 years ago).

Birthday Dinner for my husband. It was his first time at the restaurant. We both enjoyed the food, drinks and service. The piano player was an added touch.

An "old school" steak/chop house, right out of 1960s mid-town Manhattan. Delightful, polished ambience, live piano, and above average, albeit predictable, food. And there's even a dress code, for better or worse. Better, actually, although in our case there was an issue. I arrived late from a casual board meeting and didn't have time to stop at the hotel and change into something a bit "dressier." The "captain" (there's an old school title, eh?) took exception to my synthetic fabric, Ralph Lauren sport jacket, and jeans. Not wanting to cause a commotion with my friends, I acquiesced and borrowed one of the house loaner jackets, which gravy stains aside, quite honestly wasn't as nice as what I had been wearing. And then, of course, we were seated in Siberia, which I also kindly let pass... Yet self-righteousness aside, having standards of any kind these days is quite refreshing, and the evening was most enjoyable. I made peace with the captain and look forward to a return visit. I think you'll enjoy it as well, but remember, dress like it's 1969 -- and you and your date are visiting the town's best supper club.

Whenever we've visited DC over the past 30+ years, The Prime Rib is one which is on our must list. We never miss. Great food, wine and ambience. And we appreciate the dress code as it adds to the dining experience.

Service was prompt and professional.

Prime Rib is as reliable as it comes for red meat and (I'm told) good seafood. I go for lunch and have the luncheon prime rib which is a generous portion with two side dishes and the prime rib is always superb. Crab cakes are also great. Service is always outstanding. Some people don't love the piano, I find it fun...

Always have a meal here when we are in town. Nice to have a place that still requires a jacket at dinner. The steaks are perfectly cooked. The prime rib melts in your mouth. Love the dark paneling and black leather chairs. It’s a special evening. A bit formal which unusual these days. Been to The Baltimore and Philadelphia locations. Just as good.

The Thursday lunch special was turkey, homemade dressing, mashed potatoes and green beans with plenty of gravy. Fantastic! As good as Mom's Thanksgiving dinner.

We both ordered the Prime Rib. The Prime Rib was not sweet and succulent as was expected. Perhaps it was not as freshly made as it should have been.

In a city full of steak houses The Prime Rib stands head and shoulders above the rest. The prime rib is superior. The loaded baked potato is better than any I have ever had. We bring one home every time it is so special. The wait staff is highly professional. The wine list is excellent and the experience is always an elegant one.

We were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. Everything was excellent, the food, the service with Roberto as our server, and the ambiance. They even gave us a free dessert to celebrate. This was our second visit here and will definitely return the next time we are in Washington, D.C.

As always, a perfect evening! I took my son to celebrate his 21st birthday. We had a very pleasant drink at the bar, and were seated next to the musicians. Wonderful! The prime rib was the best ever, the oysters were huge and tasty, and the artichokes were delectable. Our server brought my son a celebratory pumkin pie for dessert, which coincidentally, is his favorite. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and super courteous. My son loved every minute of the old school atmosphere, excellent food and live music. Thanks for a great evening!

The event at the Prime Rib was outstanding. We had an exceptional table for two separated from all others. Our service was outstanding; waiter was extraordinarily knowledgeable and most attentive - anticipated nearly every request. Oysters were the best I have had at any restaurant , well chilled and not even a hint of sand. Lobster bisque was equally superb. We had the prime rib with bone in cooked to a T. Cocktails were ample and superb. Evening was expensive but worth every penny. We shall do it again at our next anniversary.

We visited The Prime Rib for a special family event. The food was excellent and the service was outstanding. The environment is tasteful and quiet enough to really enjoy the time. Service is extremely professional, but the food is equally good. Being a steak house, the menu is fairly predictable, but very well executed. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Man. This place has lost its luster. It’s sad actually. Used to love it. Been coming here for years. This place is a relic of a time gone by. Too many “goodfella” wannabes running the place. Food is good but not great. Creepy, unfriendly servers. There is simply no way this place can compete with so many superior steak places within a 3 mile radius such as BLT, Bobby Vans, Capital Grille and hell, even Ruths Chris is a better experience. Time to get with the times and bring this place, along with the menu and the service back to the present. For me, I think it’s time to move on. It’s been a nice ride and thanks for the memories but I doubt I’ll be back anytime in the next decade.

The food was disappointing. There are so many steakhouses in the area, and this just doesn’t compete with them. We went for my husbands birthday because he loves prime rib. Honestly, we’ve had better at Outback. My $63 ribeye (special offering) was unevenly cooked and unseasoned. I don’t even think the ribeye was dry aged. Good for nostalgia, but won’t be back.

We went to The Prime Rib for our anniversary on Saturday and it was delightful! So enjoy the high-backed chair and we had the same waiter we had the first time we celebrated an anniversary there. Mr. Velasquez, whose first name I unfortunately forgotten, was wonderful - impeccable service and we had such nice chat with him. I really enjoy this restaurant as it has the feel of another era and the food is delicious. With the wonderful service, it makes - made for a wonderful celebration and thoroughly enjoyable dining experience. Thank you!

Took a party of 5 and had a 20% tip attached to bill- nothing is on menu about forced tipping. this was 20% on top of $160 of wine. When this was brought up to management they offered to change the tip- AFTER telling me that I could afford it??

A couple of days later received an email from the manager who said we were no longer welcome in the restaurant because of our behavior??? Moneywalks - take yours some place else. This is an overly arrogant place with a waitstaff and management who are overly entitled

Fabulous, romantic restaurant that leaves you feeling as though you have just re-entered the 1930s. The sophisticated atmosphere is both sexy and charming and the wait staff is thoughtful and attentive. My date and I sat right next to the talented pianist who accepts requests!

By the end of our dinner, my date got down on one knee and PROPOSED! Truly a spectacular experience from beginning to end!
