The Prime Rib
Just a fine restaurant. Staff from the maitre'd to the waiters are true professionals. Food is always cooked to perfection. Jackets are still required for dinner...but that's a nice touch. Whenever in DC it's a must to dine here for me over the past 30 years.
It was our first time at The Prime Rib. I felt so uncomfortable at this location. I’ve been to a lot of nice and fancy restaurants, however, here I felt like my family was looked at and treated by the staff as if we couldn’t afford to be there. Our waiter constantly took forver to bring us our needed and requested items. The other guest who were white we’re treated like Royalty!
Before we stepped foot into the door, I called the location because I parked behind the building and got lost. The man gentlemen was so rude!! And not helpful at all. I would never go back! Sucks because it was a beautiful restaurant and the food was terrific! I wish I could have given my granny and girlfriend a better birthday dinner experience. The food was worth it but the experience was not worth the $295 I spent. So disappointed, but when I spoke with other African Americans who went there, they informed me that they experience the same issue. Smh
Excellent meal in very nice surroundings. Would have to say that meal was a litter on the pricey side.
We have been dining at The Prime Rib for 35 years or so. Hands down, our favorite place here in DC. Food, service, 1940s supper club ambience. The best!
I came for a prime rib and I got one, cooked to my taste (very rare) and just the right size, the smaller cut. I had the traditional baked potato and creamed spinach, which were very good also. Others in my party had steaks and fish, which were excellent. My oysters were another thing, no taste and no brine. Salads were very good. Their wine list is not huge and that it good. They do have some real charmers with the Alban Patrina 2014 Syarh, Stag's Leap Winery Petite Sirah 2014 and the Albarino Doelas 2016 for the fish person and a starter for the rest of us. I love the place because it has prime rib all of the time. It is a good time place, also.
Food was excellent especially the signature prime rib,, waiting staff attentive and friendly we where visiting from uk and waiter took time to chat and make us feel welcome despite the restaurant being busy. would recommend this restaurant
We love your menu, the food and the service. And we celebrate most happy occasions with you.
Best Steak in DC
I’ve been going there nearly 30 years
Welcomed by Buzz every time.
My favorite in DC!
Always feel pampered at the Prime Rib. Time seems to stand still.
Wait service unfriendly and pretentious. Acted like we didn't deserve simple courtesies.
The prime rib was delicious. It was wonderful to enjoy an evening with elegance, great wait staff and food.
My husband and I had an amazing first experience at Prime Rib. From the service to the food to the atmosphere, everything was absolutely amazing. I have dietary intolerances and my husband is blind and you did a great job catering to us! We truly appreciated it and look forward to coming back again!
The once and future king. Old school and proud of it. 40 plus years of the finest steak in DC. Service is impeccable, the prime rib itself is the best anywhere , an excellent well thought out wine list with selections unseen anywhere else. When anybody really wants to go eat a steak this is where to take them.
Food was fair, price was high, Prime Rib was flavorless, tomato soup tasted like Campbell’s.
My chopped steak and onions was excellent and the wait staff was extremely attentive.
Heard a recommendation from a spot on Fox news and had to give it a try on our visit to D.C. Best prime rib I have ever had! Service was perfection and atmosphere was 5 star!
Absolutely loved our evening dining with you. We can't wait to go back!
The Prime Rib is our go to place. We love the food especially the potato skins. The service is always good and the access is excellent. ( I use a walker) we celebrate most special occasions there.
The beef was superb, the sides were very good, but the ceasar salad was awful and seemed to be an old pile of lettuce swimming in a bottled-type salad dressing. We expected something better than that, complained, but were still charged.
Always perfect and the service is beyond excellent!
Hadn't been here in a long while. Love the old school elegance and the background piano. Since it is never on anyone's menu I was very happy to see liver with onions - absolutely delicious - my friend had the lunch prime rib and said it was very good. We had such a calm and pleasant experience and truly enjoyed our unhurried lunch together. Will be back!
The food was great, but it is the service that puts this place above the rest. Their attention to detail is impeccable. I have never been to a restaurant that is so attentive. They anticipate and notice your every need even before you do. Our server was Justin and WOW! It was the perfect night and the entire staff made sure of it.
I had a wonderful first visit to the Prime Rib. I was there with my brother-in-law while our spouses went to a show. From the drinks at the bar all the way through our dinner, we were very pleased with the classic, timeless experience.
We had a wonderful meal coupled with outstanding service. Always the best in town!
Prime Rib is DC's iconic steak and seafood restaurant that conjures up the time when men actually dressed up for dinner and the women wore their sexiest and finest. A piano player, a classic bar, black walls and white table cloths. The service is impeccable. The owner is frequently on site and you will be treated well throughout your dining experience. Suffice to say the menu doesn't venture far from a traditional and classic steak and seafood restaurant, but the food is impeccably prepared and served. Waiters are not overly eager to interrupt. Wine list is excellent. This restaurant continues to impress.
A real old school venue for a semi-annual get-together with colleagues now celebrating nearly 30 years of fabulous food and spirits. Thanks so much to John and his crew.
Magnifique! Piano exceptionnel! Food great, service great
The Prime Rib is the best steakhouse in the area. Not only are the dining offerings superb but the service is excellent. Worth the trip from the burbs to downtown DC for sure.
A very elegant restaurant with a traditional steak house menu. A place for a memorable evening.
A fantastic restaurant! Soft shelled crab is best in town.
THE GORGEOUS ART DECO SUPPER CLUB ATMOSPHERE IS A KNOCK-OUT.
CLASSY AND ELEGANT - THE WAY THE WORLD USED TO BE.
I truly enjoyed my dinner. Everything was wonderful from the ambiance to the service, to the drinks and food, and the live piano entertainment. I can't wait for my next visit.
Delightful! After recently going to a highly rated steakhouse that was bustling with people, had an assortment of signature cocktails, one with smoke/fog, but pro forma service with plates of food hitting the unadorned table with a notable thwack and a hint of "now eat and go, we've got to turn tables," walking into The Prime Rib was like entering another era and then settling in for a complete dining experience. Yes, jacket is required and some might find that stodgy, but put on the jacket, put away your cell phone, and unfurl. Enjoy a cocktail or glass of wine before seeing the menu, chat a bit with your waiter, who is going to take good care of you for the duration - pleasantly and professionally. My husband enjoyed a delicious crab cake appetizer – all crab, no filler – and prime rib. I enjoyed a wonderful filet mignon accompanied by sides to share and one of the better Cabernets I’ve had “by the glass.” We left relaxed, smiling, and with leftovers. Thank you, The Prime Rib!
Wonderful food and incredible service. Loved the décor and the piano player played wonderful selections that sounded like a CD they were so good.
The Prime Rib is our favorite restaurant. Timeless, classic and elegant. The epitome of fine dining. It's almost like therapy. I walk in, hear the piano, cozy up in a black leather club chair, order up some champagne and all of my worries fade away. My husband loves the prime rib, i enjoy the fish. And if you are a dessert lover - the hot fudge sundae is honestly the best I've had anywhere ever!
It was exceptional and the pianist made it that much more memorable.
The Prime Rib never disappoints! Our young waiter was great, the welcoming Kir Royale was perfect with the hot sesame bread & butter. We shared their famous potato skins. I had a colossal shrimp cocktail while hubby tried the smoked salmon (my shrimp was better). My entrée was the smaller portion of prime rib with creamed spinach. Delicious with the au jus. Barry had the 21 oz, bone-in ribeye. We were both very pleased with our choices. The restaurant had sent a birthday dessert coupon so Barry had their house-made, 71% dark chocolate sundae. He loved it! I was thrilled to enjoy a slice of Key Lime pie. The only difference in their version & mine was the topping. They use whipped cream & I add meringue toasted in the oven. Coffee & Cappuccino ended our feast. The live music began @ 7 pm. Can't wait to return!
The wait staff was excellent I love the atmosphere. The mashed potatoes were as delicious as ever. The prime rib tasted steamed, badly steamed. For the prices charged that is ridiculous
This place was superb! by far the best service we have ever received EVER, and trust me we have gone to so many high end restaurants. I took my husband here and he was beyond pleased. The atmosphere was amazing, very quiet and personal if you are going for a date night. We will most definitely be returning soon.
Thank you for making the evening special and recognizing our military. The prime rib and Caesar salad was truly worth it and delicious. We hope to see you again.
