The Prime Rib Ratings and Reviews
The Prime Rib has been my favorite restaurant for 20 years. Hands down, no restaurant has ever come close. Everything is always consistently perfect at the Prime Rib. Their menu and wine list cannot be beat. They have it all covered: sexy ambiance, very romantic, classy and the best steakhouse around. My husband and I celebrated Valentine's Day here. Zach was our server and really added such a wonderful touch to the occasion. He could not have been more personable, attentive, professional and accommodating. He was so much fun and he anticipated our needs without being intrusive. The menu is so outstanding that it's really hard to make a selection. Not to worry, everything is delicious. The crab cake is pure lump meat with hardly any filler. The oysters on the half shell were plump and succulent. The Cap Steak was perfectly seasoned and juicy. Of course, no one does Prime Rib as well as they do and the garnish with fresh horseradish was excellent. The creamed spinach was outstanding. I absolutely love the butter beans. They were so perfectly seasoned and are a rarity to find. We both ended with our favorite, Creme Brulee with fresh strawberries on top with a lit candle. What a perfect restaurant to celebrate our special Valentine's Day. Any time we visit the Prime Rib, it never fails to make any occasion special. Yes, it is THAT good.
Best Prime Rib dinner I have ever had. The meat was melt in your mouth perfect. We had the signature potato skins and the signature prime rib salad. Everything was outstanding including the service, which was impeccable. Restaurant is very nice. If you love "Old School" you will love this place. Gentlemen, you must have a sport coat and keep it on throughout your meal.
Have been to this restaurant many times over the years- it’s the most elegant restaurant in DC in my opinion. Usually service is impeccable but last time - even tho it was a Friday night- wasn’t full- but waiter seemed too busy to take care of us. Prime Rib was not the quality I have been used to there. But overall was a very nice experience and would recommend to anyone who is looking for a high end Steakhouse
The name is perfect if you are a fan of Prime Rib. It is exquisite along with the Roasted Tomato soup and all the delicious sides. But do not fear if you are not a fan of the Prime Rib because the specials usually include Dover Sole and another fish which will make you happy with the selection of this establishment. Wine list is very good and the piano player finishes off the perfect night.
Food was very good as always but the service was not up to par generally and not really suited to this level of dining. Not the first time or first experience with this specific server; unfortunately we do not share an equal understanding of how service should be delivered. But I'll go back - and ensure I sit in another area.
Washington's premier steakhouse — proudly old school — it feels like home to those of us who value tradition and enjoy a well-crafted cocktail, a comfortable leather chair, a real professional waiter, a great American wine list, a little Cole Porter on the grand piano, and a perfectly cooked steak (or good seafood — you don't have to order red meat at the Rib to get a great meal). Dress like a grown up — wear a coat and tie even though they've relaxed their standards a bit in recent years to accommodate clients who don't understand that dressing well is a sign of respect to the people around them. Enjoy yourself. This is a real Washington institution.
Paying this much money I assumed that it would be a delightful experience. Boy was I wrong.
I ordered prime rib medium rare, but it came out medium-well. I ordered the potato skins with bacon and cheese - and it came with neither.
Our waiter had them redo the skins, but they were hard as rocks since he clearly had them cooked again.
The waiter was lazy and made no attempt to get our orders right.
I’m appalled that people go to this place and spend their hard earned money on crap food I wouldn’t serve to my dog!
food quite good. lovely music. decent wine, with a few semi-bargains. great dover sole. top of line beef.......
service a bit spotty. lots of confusion == re using open table reward certificate although it was noted and recognized in the reservation. very strange reaction. basically it was rejected. this is the first bad experience in 35 years of dining there, so I withhold further comment. however open table users beware. great music food and adequate selection of drinkable wines will bring us back likely.....very old school place ---pleasant usually. comfortable on a cold night if the management is warm to its long time customers.......
God bless the kitchen.
Classy Steak House with sophisticated clientele and upscale / elegant dining experience. Every night the proprietor is onsite and there is a live piano player to ensure a lovely ambiance. This is a great choice for a meal where you want to ensure the experience is special.
I've always loved this place. And I have to say that my go to is the signature prime rib. I'm usually never disappointed. However this time a was left with a bad taste in my mouth. The serving was about 1/2" thick, blood rare with a lot of fat. And not the good delicious fat around the edges. This piece of meat was a real letdown.
I'll still go back. My wife said that here filet was perhaps the best she has ever had.
Your allowed one strike right.
Always a pleasure to dine at the Prime Rib and I have been doing so since it opened and when Martinis were $5. Longevity is no accident when it comes to great restaurants. If you like meat this is the place. No better Prime rib can be found and if you prefer fish, try the Dover Sole. It's not from Dover Delaware. The staff is always attentive and friendly and you don't have to shout to be heard even if you are with some seniors like me. Go, relax, take your wallet and enjoy a great meal. It's worth it.
The Prime Rib might be one of a dying breed but I love it. It must be what fine dining was like in my parents’ time and that is great with me. The food is delicious, the service is terrific, and, wonder of wonders, you can hear yourself think and you can talk to your dining companions. There’s even a pianist playing Christmas classics like the ones Ryan Gosling got fired for refusing to play in “La La Land.” The Prime Rib wonderful change from most chi-chi places today. It’s incredibly expensive and almost worth it. Long may it survive.
