The Lobster Santiago is absolutely delicious. It's why I come to the Prime Rib.

Paying this much money I assumed that it would be a delightful experience. Boy was I wrong.

I ordered prime rib medium rare, but it came out medium-well. I ordered the potato skins with bacon and cheese - and it came with neither.

Our waiter had them redo the skins, but they were hard as rocks since he clearly had them cooked again.

The waiter was lazy and made no attempt to get our orders right.

I’m appalled that people go to this place and spend their hard earned money on crap food I wouldn’t serve to my dog!

The best steakhouse in Washington. Outstanding food, service, décor (art deco). Piano/bass music exceptional. Not cheap, of course. But creates an experience you will not have at Capital Grille, BRT, etc.

We came for a holiday meal and were not disappointed. Had the roast beef - better than I could do at home of course. Hope to come again for holidays.

food quite good. lovely music. decent wine, with a few semi-bargains. great dover sole. top of line beef.......
service a bit spotty. lots of confusion == re using open table reward certificate although it was noted and recognized in the reservation. very strange reaction. basically it was rejected. this is the first bad experience in 35 years of dining there, so I withhold further comment. however open table users beware. great music food and adequate selection of drinkable wines will bring us back likely.....very old school place ---pleasant usually. comfortable on a cold night if the management is warm to its long time customers.......
God bless the kitchen.

Classy Steak House with sophisticated clientele and upscale / elegant dining experience. Every night the proprietor is onsite and there is a live piano player to ensure a lovely ambiance. This is a great choice for a meal where you want to ensure the experience is special.

I've always loved this place. And I have to say that my go to is the signature prime rib. I'm usually never disappointed. However this time a was left with a bad taste in my mouth. The serving was about 1/2" thick, blood rare with a lot of fat. And not the good delicious fat around the edges. This piece of meat was a real letdown.
I'll still go back. My wife said that here filet was perhaps the best she has ever had.
Your allowed one strike right.

Always a pleasure to dine at the Prime Rib and I have been doing so since it opened and when Martinis were $5. Longevity is no accident when it comes to great restaurants. If you like meat this is the place. No better Prime rib can be found and if you prefer fish, try the Dover Sole. It's not from Dover Delaware. The staff is always attentive and friendly and you don't have to shout to be heard even if you are with some seniors like me. Go, relax, take your wallet and enjoy a great meal. It's worth it.

The "vibrant bar scene" is usually due to guests waiting to be seated, but there is always bar activity...couples or business, not meet/greet. Very good drinks.

The Prime Rib might be one of a dying breed but I love it. It must be what fine dining was like in my parents’ time and that is great with me. The food is delicious, the service is terrific, and, wonder of wonders, you can hear yourself think and you can talk to your dining companions. There’s even a pianist playing Christmas classics like the ones Ryan Gosling got fired for refusing to play in “La La Land.” The Prime Rib wonderful change from most chi-chi places today. It’s incredibly expensive and almost worth it. Long may it survive.

Sides were OK, but the Prime Rib (I had mine blackened medium rare) was the best I’ve ever had. That simple.

An "old school" steak/chop house, right out of 1960s mid-town Manhattan. Delightful, polished ambience, live piano, and above average, albeit predictable, food. And there's even a dress code, for better or worse. Better, actually, although in our case there was an issue. I arrived late from a casual board meeting and didn't have time to stop at the hotel and change into something a bit "dressier." The "captain" (there's an old school title, eh?) took exception to my synthetic fabric, Ralph Lauren sport jacket, and jeans. Not wanting to cause a commotion with my friends, I acquiesced and borrowed one of the house loaner jackets, which gravy stains aside, quite honestly wasn't as nice as what I had been wearing. And then, of course, we were seated in Siberia, which I also kindly let pass... Yet self-righteousness aside, having standards of any kind these days is quite refreshing, and the evening was most enjoyable. I made peace with the captain and look forward to a return visit. I think you'll enjoy it as well, but remember, dress like it's 1969 -- and you and your date are visiting the town's best supper club.

Whenever we've visited DC over the past 30+ years, The Prime Rib is one which is on our must list. We never miss. Great food, wine and ambience. And we appreciate the dress code as it adds to the dining experience.

Service was prompt and professional.

Prime Rib is as reliable as it comes for red meat and (I'm told) good seafood. I go for lunch and have the luncheon prime rib which is a generous portion with two side dishes and the prime rib is always superb. Crab cakes are also great. Service is always outstanding. Some people don't love the piano, I find it fun...

Always have a meal here when we are in town. Nice to have a place that still requires a jacket at dinner. The steaks are perfectly cooked. The prime rib melts in your mouth. Love the dark paneling and black leather chairs. It’s a special evening. A bit formal which unusual these days. Been to The Baltimore and Philadelphia locations. Just as good.

In a city full of steak houses The Prime Rib stands head and shoulders above the rest. The prime rib is superior. The loaded baked potato is better than any I have ever had. We bring one home every time it is so special. The wait staff is highly professional. The wine list is excellent and the experience is always an elegant one.
