The Prime Rib
Quintessential steak dinner experience. The Prime Rib has a knack for transporting you do a different era with its classic atmosphere. The prime rib was spectacular and my wife loved her filet!
Fabulous ambiance. The food is excellent. I love how they treat their customers.
Food is great and service impeccable. Love the fact that men have to wear sports coats. It’s like playing dress up!
It's always a treat to dine @ The Prime Rib, especially when you have your favorite waiter. This is the only place to order potato skins (after all, they invented them in 1965). Live music began at 6 pm so we were serenaded as we toasted hubby's birthday with KIr Royales. The Surf & Turf special was a delicious bargain. Sunday means $1.00 corkage fee, and our waiter decanted the bottle of Cab we brought. An ice cream dessert fit for a Chocoholic was served with a candle. Cappuccinos ended our delightful feast. Can't wait to return!
As always, an excellent meal. My only complaint was that when I ordered the Chilean sea bass, our server said, "oh, with rice and a couple of shrimp," it made it sound like it came that way -- so I was quite surprised to discover that the rice was $8 and the shrimp was $24! I would have preferred to choose my own sides for that kind of money!
We sat next to the piano and really enjoyed the music. The musicians played well off each other, and we were intrigued by the bass player.
Great professional service, high quality food very well prepared.
The Prime Rib team delivered a delicious dinner and outstanding service again!
After being personally greeted, we were escorted to a table that suited my wife's preference for noise level, we were seated at a table that was frequently occupied by the late Antonin Scalia, the Supreme Court Justice. The ambiance and service were understated and responsive. The food was tastefully prepared in a non-rushed setting and to our liking. It was nice to be addressed by our first names and acknowledging our anniversary. A highlight of the evening was a wonderful and skilled pianist who played with great techniques and understated background mood to complement the atmosphere. Similarly, the guests who all wore jackets were paralleled by the suits and tuxedos of the wait staff. We were compensated by free dessert and tea for my wife on the occasion. I found the single malt offerings to be reasonable, but not overly extensive. This is a great restaurant for a special occasion. The food service always matched freshly prepared steaks, salads, side dishes, etc. The service was largely unobtrusive, polite and prompt. The restaurant, although suited to the older conservative crowd, had a few children who were very well behaved. The waiter even played "tricks" or games with one young boy. It was a delight to have our car ready from the complimentary valet. Job well done and kudos to the restaurant and staff.
Still the best restaurant in DC. Deliciously old-fashioned. Known for beef but the seafood is even better.
Had the signature prime rib, flavour and texture was amazing. Lobster bisque was enjoyable. Mushroom and asparagus sides tasted good but quantity was small for price. Ask for the tasty creamed horseradish, fresh was almost tasteless. Key lime pie was good, not great. Overall an enjoyable dinner for a single diner. I want to go back and try their next level prime rib, if the one I had was so good that one must be outstanding.
I AM AN ESTABLISHED FAN FOR 15+ YEARS AND AM NEVER DISAPPOINTED
The best in DC, period. Their service can’t be beat and the food is 11 on a scale of 1-10.
Delightful restaurant. Excellent food and service. Great atmosphere.
The food was delicious -- the beef was superb and the sides were very tasty.
The place oozes old-school class, and it is the ideal place for a business dinner or a special occasion.
The wait staff was very attentive and personable.
This level of service doesn't come cheaply though, so unless you have some money to burn, I would reserve this place only for a special date night or another event of that ilk.
Always a good meal. I wish they would step up their game on desserts though. A great meals needs a great final act. Husband had the blueberry pie and it was a bit burned on the crust and looked like a hockey puck. No tumbling berries from that piece of pie. Barely edible and left most of it. I had the Banana Bread pudding and it must have been mixed a little to much. It was a gluttonous mess. I had to leave it. The main course was wonderful as always.
Jim our server was outstanding. He was patient with my young kid, answered all his questions politely and made him feel special. Food was outstanding, serve was quick, efficient, and always anticipated our needs. Highly recommend this place.
Service was slow, prime rib was dry. Everything seemed overpriced for the skill level that went into the meal, the delivery and the execution of the experience.
Victor the piano player was wonderful and the food great as always !
Excellent spot for any occasion. We been going to the Prime Rib for more than 34 years, still we love it anytime we go there.
My father introduced me to the Prime Rib in the 70s. The food the service and the ambiance make it my go to restaurant. Love the skins; the escargot; the house salad; the little sundae and everything in between. It's one of the reasons I'm proud to be a native Washingtonian.
The Prime Rib is an excellent experience. The staff is top notch and the food is exquisite. The restaurant featured a piano and bass combo for entertainment. This is a high end establishment and worth every penny.
Amazing experience. Sad to hear they won’t be serving lunch any longer.
Absolutely fabulous as always. David is the best of the best and a complete gentleman who makes everyone feel very special. Our favorite place to dine when we are in the Capitol. Thanks
Fantastic dinner for our 52nd anniversary.
Always the most divine dining experience. Service was fabulous starting with drinks at the bar crafted by Fritz and table service with Kevin. Thank you all for a wonderful diner.
Wonderful meal! Escargot appetizer; crab imperial; filet mignon Oscar; Lyonnaise potatoes; crème brûlée all amazingly delicious! Ambience was great. Favorite dining experience for birthday treat!!
The Prime Rib is one of my favorite places in Washington, DC
This is a classic old D.C. place. The piano in the afternoon adds to the whole ambiance. The foold is solid American and both surf and turf can be relied upon. The Art Deco touches are tremendous as is the wine list and specials.
Best friends 30th bday dinner and this experience was horrible from start to finish. Waiter was rude and disgruntled. If you ask me he was tired and read to go home. Had to get Manager involved. Steaks were over cooked and salted down extremely. Side dishes came out cold, lamb wasn’t seasoned at all. So many hiccups.
I’ve been dining at the Prime Rib for over a decade. It’s my family’s “go to” spot whenever my parents come to town. We’ve never had a bad experience. The wait staff is exemplary. I recommend the New York strip with rouquefort. To die for delicious.
We received a gift card, and learned it was billed as a quintessential, old school, upscale steak house. It definitely fit the bill and lived up to it. Delicious food and excellent service!
Overall satisfaction. The maitre’d, Larry, was a true professional and went above and beyond! Thank you and I’ll be back soon....
This is old school dining and the Prime Rid never fails to deliver.
Not cheap, but always fabulous. The live piano music adds so much to the ambiance.
Always a pleasure. The perfect place for our 50th Anniversary celebration!
To be honest, I have had better quality beef at The Prime Rib. I ordered Prime Rib and it lacked the usual fatty layer around the edge. Flavor just OK. I still find this one of the best places to go for a quiet dinner, business or pleasure. Service was superb. I wonder if you changed meat suppliers?
This is a place you will enjoy and the usual tip would serve as a meal for four at another place.
Elegant, refined. Incredible service and attention to detail. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Our meals were cooked to perfection.
My favorite steakhouse in the country. Beautiful restaurant, perfectly prepared food and flawless service.
Service was excellent food was outstanding was a little surprised that you had to wear a suit jacket to get into the restaurant which day provided pretty nice.
