The Prime Rib
We've been dining here for years, however, had not been back for 3 years until this past weekend. I was so disappointed. There were 4 of us attending for restaurant week. First, they now charge $5.00 to get the prime rib as an upgrade. The mash potatoes were watery like baby food and cream spinach as well. Nothing had seasoning -- all was blend including the prime rib. The service was ok -- felt like we were being rushed out. Key Lime pie tasted just like condensed milk. Our bill came close to $500.00 and felt I could have done much better at Longhorn steak house. Needless to say, I won't be back!!!
Tables are uncomfortably close. Like six inches apart. Wouldn't have mattered had their been music or a high enough noise level, but I had to ask to be moved because the people next to could hear every single thing. This is not the place for a private conversation. Had asked for a private table early on and was ignored.
The service was so poor that we opted to get our check and leave before the last course was served. My husbands Prime rib was great, but my petit filet was pretty flavorless and not high quality. I have never sent food back, but I had to in this case. We had been looking forward to a nice date night for so long, and were left extremely disappointed.

We had a wonderful restaurant week visit! Service was responsive, food was cooked perfectly, and the valet parking made getting there a breeze. Can’t wait to go back!
For people who want to enjoy a great dinner and atmosphere for a special occasion, I want to suggest visiting Prime Rib for a memorable event. We enjoyed this restaurant for restaurant week and from start to finish, it will be a time I will never forget. I enjoyed receiving valet parking on my arrival and was immediately seated. The restaurant atmosphere was amazingly beautiful and the service we received was the best I have received in a long time. There were surprises with potato skins and tiger sauce, and the dinner selections far exceeded expectations. If there was one minor disappointment we experienced, it would be there were no piano player playing during the meal. We hope to return again soon and we hope he will be playing. We definitely appreciated this great restaurant.
Came across this place on trip advisor, looking for somewhere different and certainly found it! Glad I had been to as conference on route so had the obligatory jacket in the case. Great vibe, nice cocktails and as it was Washington restaurant week there was an excellent value menus to be had which we did. Steaks were excellent as was the two guys on piano and double bass. Service was a little slow but I think this was due to the restaurant specials which was a great idea. Good to see some young people putting on the glad rags and getting out to this type of restaurant. Overall an excellent experience.
I had family from Geneva staying with me last week and we all thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Prime RIb. The food, service, ambience were all top notch...and the Restaurant Week Menu was wonderful.

The food was unexceptional. I had the prime rib, medium. This is their signature dish. It was not bad it just was not special. The presentation was poor. I would expect a restaurant of this caliber to have a chef who paid more attention to detail. We felt that the food was prepared by a short order cook as opposed to a chef.
Went here for the first time during restaurant week. Based on my experience, I don’t know that I would eat here again. Most disappointing was the filet mignon. For a restaurant that is supposed to be known for amazing steak, what I had was average, at best. My friend and I ordered the filet mignon medium rare but it was more medium well. It was also not juicy. We even overheard the couple at the table next to us trying to decide if they should send their steak back for the same reason. The meal came with creamed spinach and mashed potatoes. The spinach came out cold! The server quickly corrected that but, come on. Our server was okay. He was questionable at first, but seemed to get a little better and get more personable toward the end. Overall, though, a disappointing experience.
I always enjoy dining at the Prime Rib. The food and service is always great.

My party enjoyed our meal very much. The restaurant was very busy as it was Restaurant Week, but service was smooth and attentive.
The food and atmosphere are always lovely. This particular time one of our entrees was not cooked as requested and one of our sides was not delivered. We still had a good experience and will definitely be back.
The best food I ever had in my life time! I usually can not afford to go to the restaurant but restaurant week made it extremely affordable! Juan the waiter was so helpful, friendly and patient with my party. Restaurant Week is the BEST!!! THANK YOU JUAN AND THE REST OF THE WAIT STAFF!!!
My husband and I have celebrated many special occasions at Prime Rib. A few nights ago, we took our daughter and her boy friend the the DC restaurant, to spend some time together and get to know him better. They are both in the hospitality industry and like us, enjoy fine food, ambiance and excellent service, which is why we chose Prime Rib. It was a very memorable, thoroughly enjoyable, mouthwateringly delicious dining experience. The only thing I would change, is the required jacket - contrived, silly and sexist in his day and age and a nuisance honestly.
I've been to all three Prime Ribs, although many years between each. Good memories from the Baltimore and Philadelphia locations.
My main beef was paying $59 for a NY Strip Steak USDA Prime that was mediocre, and seemed similar to what is available at less exclusive steak houses. $12-$15 for grilled asparagus as a side yielded a small plate as well as a small quantity of the vegetable. Potato skins, on the other hand, were abundant, as well as delicious. Salads and desserts were good.
Maybe it is the high DC rent that justified the prices, but we also enjoyed a meal in Georgetown the next day at about half the price. Maybe those long ago memories were really something else, maybe my restaurant standards have risen too much, but i can think of several restaurants of similar age that still remain at the top of my list. One thing for sure, I don't need to return to this PR.
Three cheers for the sommelier. He knew his craft, was engaging, and willing to share his knowledge. We enjoyed an excellent bottle thanks to his recommendation.
Always excellent food and service. Now, Fitz has brought great cocktails to the menu. Try the Nutty Manhattan or the Prime Sazerac.
We have always loved The Prime Rib, it is one of our favorite spots and never disappoints. From the time that we stepped into the door until we left the staff were so attentive. It was our anniversary and everyone made sure that it was special.
We had an excellent evening at The Prime Rib - it exceeded all expectations for the quality of food and wine.
The steak was tender and tasty. Their signature potato skins were delicious. I would certainly visit The Prime Rib again while vacationing in the DC area.
This was an anniversary dinner; all was great as expected with delicious food--albeit expensive--and attentive but not intrusive service. We stopped back at the bar for an after-dinner drink and there we observed a couple of "working ladies of the night" who were obnoxious. This left a very negative view of the evening, especially for my wife. They should have been asked to leave.
The staff was great! I didn’t like my sautéed string bean and they immediately took them back and off the bill. No questions asked.
A little pricey but worth every cent! Always a great place to relax, feel special and enjoy great food!

Old school elegance and excellence, a perfect place for a special occasion. Wonderful food, excellent service, and a talented duo playing jazz classics on the piano and double bass, couldn't be better.

I had the signature dish Prime Rib and it was good but definitely not excellent which is what I paid for. I don't mind paying $50 + for a steak but I could have gotten just as good a meal from Outback for half the price.

Quintessential steak dinner experience. The Prime Rib has a knack for transporting you do a different era with its classic atmosphere. The prime rib was spectacular and my wife loved her filet!

It's always a treat to dine @ The Prime Rib, especially when you have your favorite waiter. This is the only place to order potato skins (after all, they invented them in 1965). Live music began at 6 pm so we were serenaded as we toasted hubby's birthday with KIr Royales. The Surf & Turf special was a delicious bargain. Sunday means $1.00 corkage fee, and our waiter decanted the bottle of Cab we brought. An ice cream dessert fit for a Chocoholic was served with a candle. Cappuccinos ended our delightful feast. Can't wait to return!
As always, an excellent meal. My only complaint was that when I ordered the Chilean sea bass, our server said, "oh, with rice and a couple of shrimp," it made it sound like it came that way -- so I was quite surprised to discover that the rice was $8 and the shrimp was $24! I would have preferred to choose my own sides for that kind of money!
We sat next to the piano and really enjoyed the music. The musicians played well off each other, and we were intrigued by the bass player.
Great professional service, high quality food very well prepared.
