This was a weird experience. I was excited for steakhouse with a 4.5 Google rating, and almost canceled when the yelp rating was a 3.9. Maybe I should have. The steak was cooked well but lacked flavor (no seasoning?), the service was slow (we had to ask to get menus; it took 15 minutes to get the check after asking). The au gratin potatoes were amazing; the broccoli with lemon was warm (but not hot) and was broccoli with just a lemon wedge. Felt like a classic steakhouse in decor, but not great for the price.

Fantastic food and beverages with a soothing piano man to enhance the vibe. We enjoyed the prime rib with au gratin potatoes and a bottle of wine. The prime rib is a generous slice, done to perfection

Impeccable, friendly service and delicious food with an old school steakhouse vibe. We had a wonderful dinner and enjoyed an unhurried dinner. It wasn’t too busy and they spread the diners out so we had a lovely dinner and conversation without having to yell or strain to hear. The live piano was a nice touch. Would definitely go again.

Great time revisiting a DC staple that has maintained its quality, standards and setting. Food and service were great. Thanks for the tradition. Minor suggestion: more wine offerings by the glass.

The restaurant was decent. Nice waitstaff. Elegant dining but very dark, as expected. Had gone as a child to the location in Philadelphia. Food seemed better back then. Prefer other steakhouses to be honest, but again, the food was decent. Was there for an anniversary dinner and they brought a dessert out and played an anniversary song on the piano. That was nice.

The place is classic and wonderful in its way. It’s also old fashioned and the prices have gotten fairly bonkers. The service and food are great. I just think it’s starting to tip past reasonable in the value department

this review is mixed. the has been a favorite for many years, the ambience and service are terrific. the pianist was sensational. sadly the prices are out of sight. i can 'see' 60-70 dollars for extraordinary meat but 17 bucks for a potato or spinach ? that's too much. the steak and the lamb chops were mostly excellent but both were requested medium rare and both arrived medium. this put us in a quandary as sending something back just wasn't the vibe i wanted but on the other hand neither was the somewhat overdone meat what we wanted. finally the wine llist was a bit disappointing. not particularly large and while i can see having a few bottles priced at multiple thousands of dollars there were very few modestly priced reds and the selection of anything but french and american very sparse.
