About The Prime Rib

Gargantuan cuts of prime beef, extra thick chops, and simply prepared fresh seafood are the straightforward offerings of this steakhouse that evokes the supper clubs of Manhattan in the 1940's. Leopard print carpeting, black lacquered walls trimmed in brass and tuxedoed waiters complete the elegant atmosphere, featuring live piano and bass nightly. Dress code is business casual.

Fabulous chocolate martini in the bar before dinner. Prix fix menu was fabulous and their prime rib was extraordinary. A lovely dining experience.

After calling ahead, we arrived 30 minutes late for our reservation due to traffic, and were greeted and seated immediately. Our server was very helpful and responsive to our questions on our selections for both food and wine. The blue cheese on wedge lettuce was delicious, the shrimp cocktail were jumbo, fresh and firm. The prime rib (end cut) was a very large prime cut, on the bone, ranging from crisp and delicious on the edges to pink medium and as tender as any prime fillet. The cheese cake was served room temperature and very creamy with fresh strawberries and cream. The Savored program discounted our check by $86.00. The piano/vocalist provide a very relaxing atmosphere.

Food was divine. Service was mediocre and despite reservations table was small. And uncomfortable. Food was good enough for me to go back again when I am in town.

There isn't a time that I go to The Prime Rib when it isn't a terrific experience. The bar tenders are neat - fun to talk to - and wonderful to customers. The food is always good.

We loved the dark decor and the pianist. The waitstaff is awesome. Each course was timed perfectly. I ordered the raw oysters and my husband ordered the crabcake for our appetizer. Both were delicious. My husband had the rack of lamb and I ordered the crabcakes for our entree. The lamb was cooked to protection and the crabcakes were superb. My husband was too full for desert, but I saved room for the creme brûlée, and it was well worth it. It was absolutely fabulous. I would definitely put this restaurant in our rotation.

The food is simply prepared and absolutely delicious. The service, at first, we thought was slow. However we quickly realized they weren't slow, we just were not being rushed. Never did we feel like they were trying to turn over the tables quickly. We took the time to enjoy our food and wine and our waiter was very attentive without being overbearing.

It was a great experience and we will definitely go back!

As usual, our dinner was superb. The waiter was attentive but not overbearing, and was thoughtful enough to help us to celebrate our anniversary (50th) with a creme brullee on the house. We do enjoy this restaurant.

I've eaten there many times before and loved the food, found the prime rib the best ever. Not this time, we were extremely disappointed and have no intentions of returning. No one seemed to care that the food tasted like a box of salt had been dropped on it.

didn't like the food that much...we ordered dover sole which seemed overcooked a little long in the tooth and tasteless, also oysters rockefeller which were not cooked and not warm. the steak was done perfectly. the bread is only so so and the butter didn't taste that fresh.

I would recommend this restaurant because the food was great, however our waiter is probably one of the worst I have ever had. It took him 20 minutes just to bring us water and then it took almost 1 hour before we got any food. If you have the time and patience for a great steak then this is the place to go.

We were at the Prime Rib for a evening of food and conversation with friends. One of our friends has a hearing issue. By good fortune we were seated in a quiet corner of the restaurant. It was a wonderful evening of fine food, great service and good conversation among friends.

Service was slow, inattentive, our server was paying more attention to the larger tables around us. Menu prices do not justify the portion sizes. Dining room looks tired/outdated.

The food was outstanding. The service was not good, they were slow and unattentive. The restaurant was packed (Rosh Hashanah) but they should have anticipated the crowd and scheduled accordingly. For a restaurant of that caliber, I expect high end service as well.

We went to celebrate an anniversary and it was FANTASTIC. If you are going for a fast dining out, then this is not the place. It is a dining experience. We got there at 7, our server MIKE (awesome) let us all chat til about 730, then we ordered and had our drinks and talked then got our first course around 8. We were there until about 9:45 from a 7pm reservation and the whole night was spectacular!!!!!!!!!!!

This was not our first time and it certainly will not be the last! Patrick our waiter was fantasic. He had a great sense of humor and was quite relaxed conversing with us. It was our 10th wedding anniversary and I could not have asked for more. Food was incredible, service was equisite and the roses delivered by a local florist topped the evening.

Maybe it was because we went on restaurant week, but you would think that they would want to do a half decent job at providing a quality dining experience so that we would come back. That was not the case. My prime rib was awful and bland. My girlfriend’s crab was OK at best, but we had mashed potatoes that could’ve been instant made, and green beans that weren’t anything special. My girlfriend liked the salad and the soup was only OK. The ambiance was great, love the look.. not a big fan of dining in a hotel though. On the plus side the piano player was really good! I will stick to Barclay over this place any day of the week.

Good food but overrated. The cost of the food is out of proportion to the quality and quantity received. There are much better steakhouses that are less expensive but still have similar ambiance.

Restaurant week menu was just OK. Salad was over-dressed. My favorite part were the family-style sides (mashed potatoes and green beans amandine). Service impeccable. Wine selection good; wines excellent. We were a large group--would have been nice to be at a round vs. long table (didn't get to talk to half our party)--staff managed very well (all food came out same time, etc.). Ambiance a little formal. Might try again not during restaurant week.

We dined here during Restaurant Week 2011. Prime Rib is my favorite meal and my husband teases me that I always order it but I never like it because I'm too fussy about it! Let me just say it was delicious! We enjoyed our entire meal including an appetizer from the regular menu. I'd definitely recommend The Prime Rib and I'll definitely be back!

Took advantage of Restaurant week. Food was excellent and a bargain at $35 for 3 courses. Even though it was a busy time we weren't rushed and had a leisurely meal with friends. Creme Brulee was excellent.

My girlfriend and I dined here during restaurant week. Which is sometimes a bit risky. However, our dining experience was an excellent and enjoyable one. The food was classic and seasoned and cooked to perfection. We both went with the Prime Rib to see if they lived up to their name. They did not dissappoint. It was the best cut of Prime Rib I have ever had! The waitstaff was attentive and knowledgable. On a busy night during Restaurant week, the Prime Rib did a great job. I highly reccommend this restaurant if you are looking for a good steakhouse in the city and I would definitely go back.

Always good. They give you a free drink on your b-day if you sign up for the email list and they have great specials all the time. Expensive, but best prime rib steaks in town ( ask for the pittsburgh char finish on the steak...yum)
