About The Prime Rib
Gargantuan cuts of prime beef, extra thick chops, and simply prepared fresh seafood are the straightforward offerings of this steakhouse that evokes the supper clubs of Manhattan in the 1940's. Leopard print carpeting, black lacquered walls trimmed in brass and tuxedoed waiters complete the elegant atmosphere, featuring live piano and bass nightly. Dress code is business casual.

The Prime Rib Ratings and Reviews
Loved the decor and ambiance. Food was average. Service was very good. The hostess basically had sweat pants on with high heals - it was very odd and stood out from all other servers & staff, not necessarily in a good way. Live piano music was nice. Might be more fun with a big crowd.
Could not get reservations for a restaurant close to The Kimmel Center (we were going to a concert) so this was 2nd choice...turned out to be perfect! 5:45 reservations so it was very quiet, only a few tables seated in their split level dining room (not so at the bar..packed with happy drinkers). The best crab cakes EVER (and I order them frequently) The only gluten free dessert was sherbet or ice cream...perhaps an addition in a cake or pie would add to the variety.
Excellent service which very few restaurants offer these days. Will return for pre concert again.
We went on Halloween night for the Prime Rib special. The blue cheese salad had a bit too much dressing for my liking, but was very good. The prime rib itself was awesome, as it usually is. The grilled asparagus with holandaise was a nice addition. The piano player on this night sounded a bit “tired” - as best I can describe it. But, as always, the food and service was excellent.
We have dined here several times and receive regular offers and encouragement to return via email. We were enticed to return with an off for the Signature 15 oz.Prime Rib. Two plates arrived, one nearly perfect. The other was a bit too rare for "medium-rare" and upon trying to cut, my wife found the serving unacceptably tough and chewy. It was returned to the kitchen without fuss and the replacement was fine. Otherwise the meal was excellent- especially the 2 sides, grilled asparagus and Brussel sprouts. Very unique preparation of the potato skins appetizer. Usually a quantity of potato is left in the skin and is covered with some toppings. These are nearly stripped to the skin and baked/broiled to a crispy texture, served bare with sour cream and creamy horseradish on the side. Service was excellent, seating near the piano (as requested in the reservation), bar drinks well made. All in all a lovely night.
A very attractive and comfortable upscale restaurant. Lots of dark wood on walls, with brass accents, crisp white table clothes and excellent food. We found the prices a little high, even for a steak house restaurant. And I'm comparing them to NYC establishments. Dinner for 2, with salads, 1 appetizer ,a side of creamed spinach and bottle of wine came to about $300 without potato dessert or coffee.
The service was very professional, and friendly at the same time. The escargot was incredibly
delicious and tender with an incredible garlic butter sauce. The large prime rib that we shared
was very good.
The ambiance made for a very delightful 44th anniversary celebration for myself and my
As usual the food is excellent. Menu is a little pricey but that is expected at a steak house. Steaks were cooked perfectly. House wines by the glass were very good. Tried the Cabernet and Pinot Noir.
Tried the crispy potato skins as a appy. Mmmmmm
Sautéed spinach as a side dish was terrific!
The chocolate chip bread pudding for dessert was also excellent.
Really enjoyed the pianist in the background during dinner.
The food is exceptional, just as advertised. My 86 year old father is very particular about his steakhouses and he admitted that this was in the top three steaks he has ever had. Our only complaint was the lack of properly trained wait staff. They tried to make our experience positive, yet were not knowledgeable or available during our meal. Maybe it was that particular crew so we will go back and try again to see if we have a better experience.
all i can say is WOW! my husband and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary dinner here last night. Every single thing was absolute perfection. The ambiance, the service, the food!!!
This is one of the first "high end" steakhouses we've ever really been too as we are not the type of people to really dress up and go to a fancy place for dinner, but we did our best to look the part as we walked/ran about 15 minutes in 80+ degree weather from our hotel to make it on time for our reservation because Philly traffic is ridiculous.. (which i was in a very bad mood prior to arriving for dinner, which i'm glad did not negatively affect my thoughts on this place.) & I'm very happy we chose the Prime Rib in Philly.
I could probably sit here and brag about how each thing we had was incredible, but to each is own and you just have to try it for yourself! i'm going to add all of the pictures i took as well to maybe help someone sway in the direction of trying this place out. & in my opinion, the price was extremely fair. If & when I go back to Philly, you better believe I am coming back for this some delicious food at the Prime Rib!!
Traditional food that is the best with great fine dining atmosphere. Great place to have a conversation as its not loud and obnoxious like all other center city millennium restaurants! People enjoying their actual meals and talking not just experiencing it through their phones!
