The Prime Rib - Baltimore (The Original) Ratings and Reviews
For food, service and the ultimate in satisfaction, you cannot beat the Prime Rib Room. It is what all other steakhouses aspire to become. The largest and most delicious oysters (this weekend they were local from Grasonville) - the finest cut of prime rib, wonderful fish and seafood as well. Oh and the hot fudge sundae is the perfect finish!
My husband and I were there to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. Our table was not the best, but we were fine with it. We go to the Prime rib at least twice per year every year, but this time was disappointing. The food was on point, as usual. However, the service was not great this time, which was very surprising. We were often made to feel hurried or not as important as the larger parties in our servers section. He was not particularly friendly or talkative, and barely gave a half smile our way. I was also greatly saddened to see that there is no longer a dress code that is adhered to. People wearing jeans and wrinkled polo shirts ruins the overall experience of the restaurant in my opinion.
An old friend came into town and I wanted to show him the best of Baltimore, The Prime Rib never disappoints. Pricey... yes! Does it deliver an experience for you and your guests... without a doubt. My friend was really impressed and the food was as always amazing. Can't go wrong going to The Prime Rib.
Everything was exceptional as would be expected with The Prime Rib; however, my wife and I somehow got the worst table in the entire restaurant. We were nudged in next to a server's station with no room behind my chair. I got bumped about 10 times during dinner and the food trays were flying right over my head. We will go back but will certainly ask for a different table.
Not so special occasion. I thought this was the highest-rated steakhouse in Baltimore. I think not. Perfunctory service, like attending a packed banquet. Standard steakhouse fare, jammed into a tight table for two in overflow dining room while all the fun was next door in the bar. Large noisy table of drunks at arm’s length. Steak chewy. All but impossible to get waiter’s attention for another glass of wine. Oh well...
For appetizers, we had the Jumbo Lump Crab Cake and Oysters Rockefeller and they both were excellent.
The entrees were mixed. My husband liked his Steak au Poivre. My Signature Cut of Roast Prime Rib was not as good as it used to be. The steak was not tender and lacked flavor. It was almost bland! I was disappointed! The Grilled Asparagus was good and my husband liked the Potato Skins more than I.
The restaurant knew that we were celebrating my birthday so the waiter brought us a Chocolate Mousse Pie with a candle on it. That was sweet! I didn't like chocolate so I ordered the Key Lime pie and my husband ordered a cup of cappuccino.
But, the killer was, we just had a bite of the pie and my husband was still stirring his cappuccino when the waiter placed a check on the table and thanked us for coming.
I was stunned! Really? I felt like they wanted to rush us out of there. We haven't even finished our meal! I was deeply disappointed! I expect more from high-end restaurants like the Prime Rib. I haven't been here in a while and really looked forward to a nice birthday dinner but I left with disappointment. I know the Prime Rib had lowered the dress code but I wondered, had they also lowered the service, too?
My wife and I love coming to the Prime Rib. The service, food and cocktails are always great. On this visit my wife was celebrating her birthday. The staff made this special occasion a memorable one for her. The restaurants name says it all. Order the prime rib, it is amazing!!!
Great drinks at bar, great service, seated at reserved time, top of the line Rockefeller oysters and bread. However what should have been the best was the prime rib and wasn't. The outside which is usually tasty and tender was so tough it could not be chewed for both of us. Never happened before so I don't know what the issue was, and like a fool I never said anything until leaving.
We had a fantastic dinner! We came in for the Prime Rib special on Halloween and it was (as always) cooked to perfection. All The food came hot to the table and our service was impeccable! Thank you again for a wonderful dinner. We don't get to come as often as we'd like; but this is hands down, our favorite restaurant in Baltimore! Great to see Bobby again and we enjoyed ourselves! Thank you! Thank you!
Having been fortunate enough to dine at the Prime Rib over 40 years, I know what to expect. I have never been disappointed until this visit. Simply stated, the beef (prime rib) had NO flavor (I have eaten more tasty hamburger). In addition, the meat was a bit tough - usually it is meltingly soft but this required real effort. This has NEVER been the case (even during Restaurant week). Having advised Aaron that neither of us wanted horseradish (why waste it?) the plates arrived simply with a plain slab of beef - when the horseradish comes there is generally a small garnish - tomato/ green leaf...etc. This simply was not an attractive presentation.
I don't like to be disappointed when I am spending this much money on a meal. It will take some serious consideration for me to return to what I have always considered the "prime" restaurant in Baltimore. I have advised friend, visitors, patients, about this restaurant but this recent experience have given me serious misgivings.
I always have been grateful that the Prime Rib would represent top quality from EVERY perspective and, frankly, at the prices charged I expect this. I don't mind paying for a top level meal but I do NOT intend to repeat this recent experience. As I am reminded in my own area of work, there is ALWAYS competition!
There isn't much to say except from start to finish it was a wonderful meal, starting with drinks to dessert. Service was the best. We had someone with us who was a vegetarian who said it was the nicest restaurant in Baltimore she had ever been to and loved the selection of vegetables she was able to pick from. The restaurant was very accommodating.
Every time I have ever eaten here I have thought "I should eat more in often. It is reliably the best restaurant in town." And this time I thought that too, but this time I also thought, again, how special the service is, but particular on this visit the service is what really struck us too (Matthew, as kind and sensitive-to-our-wishes as anyone could possibly be). How is it possible to remember everything we ordered (a complicated order, with little special requests tagged onto everything) without writing it down, and deliver it exactly at the moment WE were ready to exactly the right person? I have no idea how this is done, but add that to a wonderful pianist who could play anything with real jazz talent, and to yes, the best food in town, and what a magnificent evening we had. I must eat here more often, whenever there is reason for going out to dinner for a really good meal with the best of service!
Exceptional service. This offers traditional and formal dining thus men' coat is required. Great for business dinners especially for steakhouse experience. The oyster selection and preparation hit the spot and the corn off the cob is the best I have ever had.
Ambiance is always great however we expected our prime rib meals to be a bit more tender and tasty as they have been in the past. Cheesecake dessert was delicious. We were a bit early for the live entertainment but that has alway been very good in the past.
A classic Baltimore favorite. A very nice change from the chain tourist traps that surround the Inner Harbor.
Food was excellent as always. Our waiter was attentive but did not rush us by any means. He seemed a little abrupt at times, hence only four stars there.
As a special occasion/business dinner restaurant one would usually see men wearing jackets (and often ties). I was surprised to see one patron wearing a sweatshirt. I hope it is not a trend.
The food was excellent! I had the prime rib, was really tender and juicy. My wife had crab stuffed salmon. The crab was savoury and the salmon was cooked to perfection. They brought us a dessert for my wife's birthday, a chocolate mousse pie. Very good! Excellent service!
Every time I go to the Prime Rib, I ask myself the same two questions. Why did I ever bother to go anywhere else? And, is the price worth it? I always have the same answers--I don't know but I won't do it again and absolutely!
My wife and I always look forward to the perfectly cooked food, the outstanding service from staff we've come to consider friends, and an ambience that is both luxurious and relaxing. We love to dine here because we love the experience--and it is a consistently great one.
We've enjoyed many fine restaurants, but very few--very, very few, match the total experience. Since our very first anniversary experience, my wife and I consider the Prime Rib, our place.
As usual The Prime Rib was the right choice. Fabulous bar. Drinks (martini for me) are the best in town. Dinner was wonderful and the service is outstanding. My boyfriend and I celebrated our anniversary and the restaurant made sure to recognize it with a dessert and candle on the house. Very thoughtful. Love this place.
A traditional high end American Steak House. Live Jazz piano music in the bar area. We celebrated our son's 30th Birthday and wanted a special place for dinner. This restaurant was perfect. Everything was excellent, both the food and the service. Very expensive, but worth every penny.
