The Pressroom Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Passed through Lancaster en route toPhilly and was recommended the Pressroom. Food was really good, my friend got a bad cut of steak but it still tasted amazing nonetheless. The duck two ways was outstanding, very good value for what you get. Would recommend!
When I booked our reservation on line, I had marked that it was a Birthday celebration. Unfortunately, nobody recognized the Birthday and this was very disappointing to me! I would have said something but, I wanted it as a surprise for my wife. Too bad!
The food was excellent and the service was terrific. Look forward to our next visit!
Food and drinks were good and priced what I thought was reasonable for an upscale restaurant. Was a little disappointed with the steak. At $34 though I one would think they are getting a steak that tastes better than Texas Road House, but I am a picky steak person. The Ahi Tuna and duck were amazing.
I've gone to the Pressroom multiple times before and each experience is great. The food is always delicious and they regularly update their menu to reflect the season and available ingredients. I had a delicious dish called Vegan Spaghetti - it was one of the best dishes I've ever eaten.
I grew up in Lancaster and The Pressroom has been a staple for decades. However, the experience wasn't the best. It took my wife and me asking a bus boy who our waitress was because we sat at our table for 10 minutes. The food was ok...again, nothing like I remember over the years. I've been to The Pressroom multiple times so I know they're usually pretty good. Maybe just an 'off' night for the staff.
We've eaten at Press Room many times. We ate there last Friday, Oct. 27 and were very disappointed with the service and the request for a quiet seating area. The restaurant was not full when we entered and we were seated right in the middle of the restaurant when there were many quieter booths and tables that were available and didn't appear to be reserved.
The service was particularly poor. We ordered soup and a pizza. When the pizza arrived the waitress did not bring any plates for us to eat the pizza. The only plates on the table were for the rolls she brought to us earlier. I had to get up and request plates from another waiter. She never came back to ask us if we wanted drink refills either. Someone came and removed our pizza plates as I sat there eating the crust of the last piece of pizza I had in my hand.
When we said we did not want any dessert, she was, however, very able to quickly get the bill to us and take it for processing.
I have to say both of us were extremely disappointed with our recent experience!! That probably cemented our opinion that Characters Restaurant in the city is actually our favorite downtown dining location.
Appetizer and entrees were delicious. Dessert was a little disappointing. We have been to the pressroom for dessert before and had been very impressed but not on Saturday night. We got the Honey Fig Spiced Cake and it was just missing that wow, outstanding factor that everything else had.
Marissa our serve. She made the experience even more elevated. The food was fantastic - vegan spaghetti...the falafel balls are flavor explosions. Marissa was not only extremely knowledgeable regarding the menu and bar, but her skill of pouring a beer was exceptional. I am not kidding...she brings style, fun, and realness to your experience. BRAVO!
The chorizo gravy fries are to die for! The cocktails are well-balanced. There is good variety in the dinner portions so that if you want to go lighter or heavier, you can. The wide variety of desserts was appreciated. The ambiance and modern, upscale decor was perfect for a nice date night on First Friday in Lancaster. The only negative experience was that my scallops were a bit sandy, which is a shame, because it detracted a little bit from an otherwise great dish with a wonderful flavor profile that was uniquely bright and a little sweet. I don't get the feeling that this sort of thing would be a common experience given the caliber of everything else we ate, so I'll definitely be back.
We typically try to go to local favorites when my boyfriends uncle comes in from out of down. Pressroom did not disappoint! Our waiter was awesome, his recommendations were on point! We all tried the blush soup; which was the tomato bisque mixed with the crab bisque...it was delicious! His my and I both got the salmon with spinach, sweet potato, and salsa verde. It was so good, I ate my entire meal! I usually only eat half but it was too good to save. The guys got a burger with a huge plate of fries, and the steak with fries! All was very good. Even though we were pretty full, we still got dessert. The waiter recommended the banana cake, I always get whatever type of creme brûlée the have; it tasted like pumpkin pie! It was amazing! And the banana cake was just as good. Overall great food, and wonderful dinner.
We were there because of restaurant week. It was a good value but the salads were way too large, almost unappetizing large. The kale salad was very tasty but serving 1/3 rd would have been more attractive. Salmon special was delicious. The banana cake was a little dry.
I love this restaurant but there were a couple of "mishaps" this visit. I had made a reservation and then called to confirm that we could be seated outside. Never got a call back and when we got there we were told there was a 1 1/2 hr wait for outside seating. Kind of a bummer start. Then we ordered a bottle of wine from the menu and were told it was no longer available. Ordered another bottle of wine and that was not available. So then we asked for a Pinot noir. The waitress brought another cab and a merlot. Never got an explanation and got tired of requests so we settle for the cab. We seemed to have to wait awhile for our food as well. But the food was good.
A friend and I ate dinner at the Pressroom Friday night. She was 45 minutes late to the reservation and our server was so kind and accommodating. I felt awful, a Friday night and we were taking up the table... but the staff was extremely kind and forgiving as though it was zero issue at all.
I'm still dreaming about the funghi and duck confeit with truffle oil pizza!!
I would not recommend this restaurant. Although the food was really good, the service and managing of the volume of people that came on a Thursday evening was poorly executed. The management and server assured us that it was an anomaly, but that was not our concern. We waited an hour for our entrees with promises every ten minutes that it was on the way. The server should have been upfront with us and wasn't. After I decided enough was enough and we were leaving, the food came and the manager did comp us half the bill. But it was not a good dining experience and we will never go again. My take on it was that the management was not competent and the server was not forthright. Why would we chance another experience when there are other restaurants that would not subject us to this miserable Happy Birthday experience? Considering all the mess ups, they should have comped the whole dinner and that would have told me they were serious about making it up to us and assuring we would come back. They didn't care, is the bottom line. We did leave a good tip for the server, but he was not forthright and that affected our experience. He indicated that he was embarrassed and that there were problems with the kitchen and communication. All understandable, but not my problem.
