About The Precinct
For Jeff Ruby, this is the steakhouse that started it all. In 1981, The Precinct was born in the former Cincinnati Police Patrol House Number 6. This turn-of-the-century, Romanesque-style structure would hold what is now the longest, continuously running white tablecloth restaurant in the city.
Recently named one of America's Top 10 Steakhouses by USA Today and Gayot.com, The Precinct is frequently recognized as having Cincinnati’s best steaks, seafood and service. This consistent high level of quality and overall guest experience over 3 decades has endeared Precinct to celebrities, businesspeople, families and loyal diners alike.

The Precinct Ratings and Reviews
Had a late reservation d/t waiting until last minute. Server was great except could not make out most of what he said d/t noise level, but noise died down after a while, and also the couple behind us had gotten way too drunk and one was escorted back to his seat by the manager after leaving for the bathroom (restaurant called an Uber for the couple 👍🏻) Food was amazing though! Ordered the Collingaworth and had crab patties as an app!
This was my second time at this location. The service was outstanding, the server was very attentive, funny, and a pleasure to be around. We really enjoyed our trip the first time and because my wife and I both worked on Valentine’s Day, this was our valentines dinner. The food looked incredible and the atmosphere was nice as always. With that being said, I have a shellfish allergy and roughly 20 min after we left after having a wonderful meal, my skin started to turn blotchy. I had to have my wife pull over so I could get sick on the side of the road, somehow my steak must have become cross contaminated with shellfish of some kind. The only reason I was sure is because of the blotchiness of my skin. I would still recommend this wonderful place to a friend as long as they do not share a shellfish allergy. However based on the events following dinner this will be my last time having dinner at the precinct.
We came from Wilmington to celebrate our daughter’s 21st birthday. (We had come here three years ago to celebrate our son’s. ) Our server was friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The food was excellent tasting, although I like my food served while it is hot. Both the scallop and grits appetizer and my steak Collinsworth were both lukewarm, as if they may have been sitting in the kitchen for a few minutes before being brought to the table. I’m sure our server would have corrected that had I asked, but didn’t want to make a fuss during our celebration. The birthday dessert and the photo provided were nice touches. The evening was fine, just nothing particularly special.
We were engaged here and come back once or twice a year. Food is always wonderful. This is the first time we were seated directly to the right of the stairs, half table for 4 people...not a lot
of room. Since it was winter, it was very cold as every time the front door opened the cold air came right in on us.
We have been to the Precinct on many occasions. Went this time for my birthday. The Precinct by far has been one of the top steakhouses that I have eaten at and I have made it a habit to eat at the top steakhouses in the largest cities in the US. On this occasion, however, our service was slow and there was an extended wait from the time we finished our salads until we received our entrees and steaks. We found our steaks and sides to be “lukewarm”. The steaks were prepared perfectly and the flavor was excellent but the usual amazing steak was less than that because they were not hot. So... this was the first slightly disappointing visit to The Precinct. I suspect that it was an anomaly.
The Precinct is always a Great dining experience. The level of customer service that they provided to us and the other tables around us was very impressive.
The Precinct is always 1st on my list of recommendations to visitors when I'm asked for a suggestion of a " Nice" place to dine.
There were 5 in our party. Our dining experience was very good. We had not seen each other for quite a while so we had a good deal of catching up to do. We were not rushed to leave after we had finished our meal and continued to talk. I appreciate that they continued to be cordial. The only negative thing was that they gave the take-home bags to the wrong people. I received my friend's food and she received mine.
