About The Precinct
For Jeff Ruby, this is the steakhouse that started it all. In 1981, The Precinct was born in the former Cincinnati Police Patrol House Number 6. This turn-of-the-century, Romanesque-style structure would hold what is now the longest, continuously running white tablecloth restaurant in the city.
Recently named one of America's Top 10 Steakhouses by USA Today and Gayot.com, The Precinct is frequently recognized as having Cincinnati’s best steaks, seafood and service. This consistent high level of quality and overall guest experience over 3 decades has endeared Precinct to celebrities, businesspeople, families and loyal diners alike.

The Precinct Ratings and Reviews
The staff was amazing!!! Jake Taylor was awesome and there were other waiters who came to visit the table and made it a wonderful experience for my family. Even took the time to show the kitchen to my 5 year old and made it a truly special night. Thank you!
It's the Precinct. Not much to say that hasn't been said. Service, food, environment, are all top of the line. The waiters were great. I had the Hatchet and it was probably the best steak I've had in my life. I've been to a lot of the top end steak houses over the years like Charley's, STK, the Palm, Prime 112, Ruth Chris, etc, and multiple trips to the Ruby restaurants, so thats saying something. The tenderness and flavor were unparalleled. As a point of comparison, my wife got the Lachey and next to the hatchet, it might as well came from a chain steakhouse. Not that it was bad, the hatchet was that much better. The downside, of course, is the price. At $119 the hatchet is not an easy purchase to make for just about anyone. Even for the Precinct's high end menu, it's a little over the top. That being said, if I had the menu in front of me now, it's what I would order, kids college fund be damned.
We finally visited the Precinct after being told multiple times it was the best steakhouse in Cincinnati, and it did not disappoint. The space has such a remarkable ambiance - the building is historic and just gorgeous, and service was incredible. I got the Collinsworth Steak - it was delightful. The husband got the Lachey, and he loved it as well. The crab cake appetizer was fantastic. The servers and helpers were all friendly and it was just a treat. The entire experience was quite wonderful, and I am looking forward to going back again. The next opportunity you get to celebrate something, this should be your top option. I would reserve ASAP, as it fills up quickly. It is obviously on the expensive side of things, but it is 100% worth it if you can swing it and have a reason to celebrate... Or, if you just want to get dressed up and go for a nice dinner, I highly recommend!
My wife and I went for our anniversary. The staff was friendly and helpful with menu suggestions. They provided a history or the building and an anniversary dessert. However, we were underwhelmed by the steaks and macaroni and cheese. For a $200 meal you would expect a steak that blows you away, but it was not as epic as I anticipated. The steak was under cooked and the flavor was inconsistent.
The Precinct is a wonderful Cincinnati Iconic restaurant. While a little pricey, the food is worth it. The steaks can almost be cut with a fork. (Some actually can!) There are toppers and accompaniments to please every palate. I recommend the Precinct to anyone.
Very nice service from the valets, the reception, waiters, manager. All welcoming and efficient.
Exceptional steaks, cheerfully split onto two plates for old folks like us who are unable to finish one of their wonderful steaks. Great acoustics; seemed noisy, but no problem hearing our table conversation. Interesting rooms, comfortable chairs. A great dinner.
Our dinner at the Precinct was outstanding! The server assistant Linus and our main server Chad were both great! I have a feeling Linus will be promoted in the near future. Bone in ribeye and scallops were perfect, as well as the steak Collinsworth, sides and salads. Cheers!
If you want a truly OUTSTANDING steak, or seafood, then the Precinct will not disappoint you. It's in a unique location, in a unique building, and the service is off the charts. The prices are VERY HIGH, but the experience and quality of the meal are second to none.
Fantastic as usual. Most impressed with valet service. Raining very hard when we were leaving. I walked down and asked valet what was the best way to get around the block to pick up my wife who was waiting at the front door. He told me no worries he'd bring the car to us. I went back to the door where he promptly brought the car to us. Kudos on excellent service!
The restaurant portion of The Precinct was excellent. Food and service were beyond reproach. We were impressed with the bar but the service in the bar was disappointing. The male bartender would rarely make eye contact with me and my wife. He seemed far too distracted and preoccupied with the blonde female bartender that was working with him. We were very disappointed with this situation. The female bartender did provide good service when she noticed. Made eye contact and was pleasant. The male bartender needs to be retrained or removed.
Great meal & Service! This is my favorite all of the Jeff Ruby restaurants. The service and food are always impeccable. The steaks melt in your mouth and the wait staff is friendly and attentive without being over bearing. I highly recommend this place if you enjoy great food and appreciate a good steak. The Chris Collinsworth is my personal favorite.
This was not our first time at The precinct restaurant. We go at least once a year and have never been disappointed. The service is always top notch and the food is some of the best we have ever had. We always look forward to our next visit, whenever that may be.
Fantastic steaks. Amazing appetizers. This is the go-to restaurant for special celebrations in my family's lives. The service creates a dining experience that is second to none. I highly recommend it. If you truly understand the meaning of value, you'll love The Precinct.
Like all Jeff Ruby restaurants best steaks in town. Service is terrific. We were accompanied by my 95 year old mother-in-law. They handled her very well.
Caesar and Freddie salads were very good. Truffled corn is one of my wife’s all-time favorite dishes. I thought the garlic mashed could have used more garlic.
We’re frequent diners so we’ll be back.
