Had special Christmas buffet with my husband. Very good food, great selection, tons of desserts. They did run out of a lot of dishes and we had to wait to have them refilled - a few dishes we just gave up on. But would definitely do again - worth what we spent.

The Thanksgiving dinner was nice but very expensive (for our family of 10 it was $600 with $111 of it toward a tip--and 7 of those 10 were under 10 years of age) it really just felt like a buffet. In the morning we returned to Ponds for the breakfast buffet. We were asked to wait 45 minutes then when we were finally seated the buffet line was empty (no food). The omelet was very nice. The staff did not apologies and did not offer a discount. Again for 7 people they charge us the full price. Very disappointed in the food availability at the resort.

We attended the Thanksgiving Buffet for the second consecutive year. Same menu, but last year's experience seemed better. I tried the prime rib, and the first trip through the line yielded about 75% fat and gristle. The sweet potato casserole offering was very watery. I tried the turkey breast without gravy and it wasn't the least bit moist. The attendant seemed almost apologetic when we witnessed the meat crumble as he attempted to slice it. While I understand there are pitfalls to eating buffet style, I feel, at $54 a person, the offerings should rate higher than Golden Corral. I must say the appetizer selections were superior and the wait staff very attentive.

Adding the word steakhouse at the end of a restaurant name does not make it so.
I had to return a fillet that the waitress said I should get well done so it was not bloody. It was so raw I had to send it back to get even more well done.
The hostess had to leave her station to actually fill water and and put out silverware.
The line to get in was ridiculously long due to this.
I will never eat there again.

The food was good, but I asked for no onions on my pizza and it came with onions. The waitress was back twice at our table and saw me picking the. Off the pizza, but never said a word. She also never asked if we wanted dessert. Just put the bill down and left. Way overpriced.

We got there, seated quick, quick service, almost felt like, hurry up and get out. When i reserved, the menu had one set of prices, when i saw the menu when i was there, it was alot higher in price. Got the food, tasted like frozen food from the grocery store. Got the bill and she made a mistake on the prices, she refused to fix the bill. Just paid it and left unhappy with the whole pond experience.

They bragged about the salad bar, but it was nothing special and was an additional $12. There were few choices for all the hype. We each ordered a different entree. All were delicious. The pork chop and crab legs and halibut were excellent. Considering the prices, the meals lacked accompanying sides and presentation.

On Open Table and on their menu it clearly says an automatic gratuity will be added to your bill if you have a party of 6 or more. No problem. However, they added a $48 gratuity to our bill and we only had 4 adults and 1 child and argued about it. After they finally stopped argueing with us, they brought the receipt back so it could be signed and was quite snippy with us. For us having to pay $54 per adult & $25 for a child for a buffett that really wasnt that fantastic, I would NOT recommend them. I could've gotten a better buffet from Golden Corral and it would've been WAY cheaper.

The Pond Steakhouse pops up in the evening in the facility that serves as the Pond Cafe during the day. Consequently, its furnishings and decor are standard hotel coffee shop. However, its view of the pond and towering Mount Alyeska is stunning. The filet was flavorful and cooked perfectly. The crab stuffed mushrooms seemed to have been prepared without crab, but they were tasty. The Baked Alyeska desert was an almost flavorless mess topped in toasted marshmellow. The service was attentive.

Service was outstanding and the main course, prime rib, was spectacular. The add-on side of crab seemed not worth the price. The salad bar, which looked good, did not add much to the overall meal. We would have preferred a couple of specialty salads to choose as opposed the salad bar. Overall, it was an excellent dining experience and I would recommend this for any special occasion or fine dining evening.

Came with 3 friends for Christmas dinner. The food options were few and food was cold or tasteless. We were ate the 4pm seating and they ran out of some food half way through our meal. Will not be back.

Very disappointed in the main course at the Christmas Buffet. The duck and prime rib were not fit to be eaten. Duck could not be cut, it was so tough. Prime rib was not done to a good texture. I expect they would know how to cook a good piece of meat to perfection. The king crab was not totally thawed out so the large knuckles couldn't be eaten. What a waste.. I would think at one of the most prestigious places in AK that the food would be a bit more edible. The dessert and salad tables were more of what I would expect to see at Alyeska hotel. But to pay 46$ plus a 20% tip for a buffet and not have an edible main course, is very very sad. Wouldn't recommend the buffet to anyone. Very disappointed....

We dined here on Thanksgiving and have done so a couple of times in the past. They served a variety of items for their Thanksgiving buffet. We found it to be disappointing in that the side dishes were not hot. They had a medley of roasted cauliflower and carrots that were particularly disappointing but shouldn't have been. They were not hot and had the appearance of having been prepared a day earlier and left out. They were so dried up and shriveled I was embarrassed for Alyeska Resort, even though they didn't appear to be. The carrots looked like dried twigs. We found the roast turkey to be dry and the prime rib to be far less than prime and tuff enough to cut through that we requested steak knives. The staff was also extremely slow in replenishing items that had run low or out.
The desserts looked very nice although being a diabetic, I was unable to partake and there were no sugar free items offered.
All in all, disappointing. We find that there are a great number of individuals who will eat anything placed before them. We, however, expect far more given the price and locale.

The buffet had a great selection of foods from the salads to the deserts which were delicious! Everyone at our table raved about the prime rib as well as the deserts. Our hostess was very friendly and attentive throughout the meal. I would recommend that when people make a reservation that they are asked how old their children are that they will be reserving for as I was surprised that my 14 year old was considered an adult. All in all. I would highly recommend the Pond Café for any occasion.

Thanksgiving buffet was lovely.....vegetables were undercooked. Turkey, roast and seafood were delicious. Overall the food was very good, and worth the price. Service was very slow and inattentive.....especially considering there was an automatic 20% gratuity added to our party of 3.

The staff was exordinarily friendly and in a festive mood in their Ghoulish Costumes. Food was perfectly cooked and we especially grateful for the corking fee. We enjoyed a special vintage bottle of vino with our great dinner.

They had very good waiters always checking on us to see if we needed anything and filling our waters, the food took a while to come out I ordered the steak and it looked so good, once I cut into it it was to rare for my taste their was blood when I cut I usually like my steaks medium this was pretty rare for my taste I never got asked what temperature I wanted my steak and I completely forgot to advise them, Other than that it was very good. It is a little pricey I was expecting a little more towards the food for that price.

Service was fantastic. I'm not sure the filet mignon was actually that. There was a bernaise sauce on it that I think was to cover the fact the steak did not have much flavor. And it looked like the steak was maybe a lesser cut that was shaped and folded in half to resemble the cut of a filet. Just not the quality one would expect for the price.

I had posted on my opentable reservation that it was for a special occasion (wife's birthday) and would be nice to have a special desert or something. The hostess and waitress asked if there was a special event and we disclosed it was my wife's birthday. We were a little disappointed that they didn't bring out a special desert or anything. Overall the meal was OK, steak was a little over seasoned with the peppercorn, but overall everything was OK. Kind of underwhelming.

Skip it. This place was so overpriced and the food was not very good for what you are paying. I would recommend that you search for another fine dining option if you are in the area as this place does not even come close to hitting the mark. The staff was friendly but they were not very good at their jobs.

I had been wanting to try out the Christmas Buffet for a couple of years now. The menu looked great and when we got there we were seated promptly even though there was a line. The crab bisque was AWESOME, however the other food on the buffet was just average. They advertised shrimp and crab claws on the buffet and I never saw the claws, just the shrimp. I guess I just expected a little bit more of a "WOW" considering this was Alyeska.

I ate at the pond and it's sister restaurant, both at the ski resort, twice in the past week. Christmas dinner was phenomenal.there was prime rib, crab, turkey, duck and all the trimmings. The pastry chef did an amazing job on the desserts as each one looked like handcrafted artwork. Last night we stopped in for a pizza. The crust was amazing and the toppings were plentiful. I honestly have to say it was one of the best pizzas I've ever had. They have an excellent wine and beer list and at least four pages of cocktails. I have to say that the best part where the servers. They knew exactly when I needed something and brought the check within 60 seconds of my napkin hitting the plate. Definitely 20% tip
