Very nice meal here at the Pointe Restaurant in the Omni Hotel where we are staying in Charlottesville. Crab cake and Virginia Trout entrees were very tasty and excellent value. Would do this again and also recommend to others.
Our meals were good. My daughter especially liked the hummus bowl. She said everything in it was delicious. My other daughter and I had the salmon salad which we both thought was rather plain. I think the greens could have been varied instead of just romaine lettuce. The dressing would have been better as a vinaigrette instead of the creamy avocado, and the salmon was good but plain. The dish was good but could have been better. Service was great and we appreciated not having to go out in the bad storm for our dinner.
Terrible service. We were the only people in the restaurant and the two people who did not order the buffet ended up waiting 49 min for entrees. Not ok. Waiter was rude and dismissive. It took 3 requests to get coffee refilled - and we were very gracious and kind in our requests. Will never eat here again.
Overpriced, fixed price menu for graduation weekend. This was not revealed at time reservation was made, only one day prior,so absolutely no possibility of making a change for our party of 8. Could only choose from 3 entrees, one being vegan( and not liked by the 2 who had to order it) so only 2 meat choices. Very disappointing. Wait staff was good. Normal menu is probably worth trying, but we aren't going back.
We had dinner here after my sons’s graduation from UVA. Food was outstanding, as was the service. Highly, highly recommend!
Limited menu they did not advertise due to graduation weekend. The restaurant was only half filled and still out service was incredibly slow - even a super long wait just to get the check so we could get out of there. You would think with a limited menu the food would come out quickly - nope. Not many choices for teenage boys. Would not go back.
WE went at 4 pm and they still served the lunch menu which was great for us. Not too heavy not too expensive. Good service we had a table of 8 after UVa grdauation. The food, fancy sandwiches, crab bisque, burgers, pulled pork, appetizers, were all well prepared and large portions. very pleasant setting. Airy, quiet, cool on a hot day, our party was pleased.
We sat outside on the patio for lunch and our waiter was great and four of us ordered a la carte and two had the lunch buffet. Our table overlooked the downtown mall and it was nice. For a hotel restaurant this is really every good, nicely run, and well-located to avoid the crowds of graduation. I would not make my way here on a tour of Charlottesville, but if you are staying at the hotel or in town for an event, this makes a great breakfast or lunch spot.
Great food and even better service!
The restaurant was lovely, but the food was cold. Not just not warm, actually cold. And clearly had been sitting out most of the day so that the chicken and pork were dry. (We had an afternoon seating). Service was pretty bad considering all they had to do was bring drinks - I asked for coffee, but no cream or sweeteners came with it. The freshly made food (omelette and crepe) which people had in our party was apparently good. The desserts were amazing. But $52 for carrot cake was a bit much.
I have been this hotel restaurant many times for meetings, but never dinner. A relaxed evening with great food (large) servings, very good wine and great service which we enjoyed. The food next day at my meeting? Very good - cup of soup, variety of salads, and small but yummy tastes of dessert. Thoroughly enjoyed - would recommend.
Absolutely delicious scallops...very clean restaurant... beautiful hotel...waitress on 3/2/19, 6:00 p.m. said that she does not usually work in the restaurant but I think she should - she was great!!!
Upscale hotel setting. Pleasant atmosphere with good food. Wine and food are a little pricey
The Christmas buffet was very good. There was a wide assortment of food in abundance. The complimentary champagne was a nice touch. The desserts were just OK. The sweet potato pie was disappointing. Service was nice. Staff went out of their way to accommodate us.
We had a bad experience, We waited, until my daughter got up and got us some drinks.
Its thanksgiving, Finally got our orders in, with in some time they brought us two orders that was not ours. to find out the table across the way. that they eventually got it after we got ours. Not sure what occurred there. We finally get our meal, its was good. I was missing my vegetables and my cranberries. I asked for them got my vegies but never got my cranberries. During our dinner, one of the waiters came down the two step stairs in a hurry carring salads and dressings for someone, he dumped one of the dressings all around my wife. took them 15 mins before someone attempted to clean it up. For what we paid for this it was a mess, I contained myself, because I had my wife and daughter with me.
Went for Thanksgiving dinner. We were from out of town and other restaurant serving the thanksgiving fare were all booked.
The Pointe was horrible. There was a long line of people even though there was hardly anyone there. We had a reservation but they couldn’t sit us and told us to wait in a cold waiting area. We told them we’d wait in the bar, and they never came to find us.
We got a slab of dry turkey which was horrible. Cranberry sauce didn’t taste like cranberry sauce, they should have just bought the Libby’s canned cranberries.
Not enough watlit staff for the number of Thanksgiving reservations
I don't mind a pretentious place when the food is good. That was not the case this time. We went on Thanksgiving and even the stuffing was disappointing. Further, the service, while friendly, was nothing to write home about. It took a long time to get a drink, our food order was incorrect, and we had to call for the bill. Pretty disappointing.
The food was good, and the service was excellent. Padric was attentive (but not too much so) and we had a great dinner experience.
Great variety of oysters and they were amazing! One of our best meals in Charlottesville!
Food bland. Nothing special.
Our server made our night interesting and most memorable!
Food was amazing and the service was even better!
Outside dining is nice.
Food was mediocre at best. We got the vegetable ravioli which was overdone, hard and dry.
We also had the macaroni and cheese and the potatoes au gratin. The macaroni was bland and the potatoes were hard.
On the good side, our server was great and the manager came over and introduced himself. Unfortunately we did not see the manager again or we would have told him about the food.
Hidden gem for sure, incredible food that is also innovative and pretty!
It was a pleasant dinner. Better than you might expect at a hotel dinning room. The food was good as was the service. It was quiet so we could talk with our dinner companions.
The place was nice. The service was perfect and we had felt welcome
We arrived and sat outside, as requested. If there hadn't been Metallic and AC/DC playing loudly from another restaurant.. It would've been decent ambiance. We ordered a burger medium cooked. Mine came and was cooked like a hockey puck. Burnt on the bottom and the cheese abs bacon on the top has been broiled beyond any recognition of food. The cast iron potato gratin was good until you ate more.. Then you were overwhelmed with salty onion powder. It was not a pleasant experience. I would not recommend this restaurant.
Excellent place. Simply stellar service. They helped us graciously celebrate graduation and were so nice, they ran out of crane brûlée and apologized and offered anything else for free to make up for the disappointment.
Very nice restaurant in the Omni Hotel. There for a UVA graduation. Menu was fixed at $79/person so a bit pricey. Wine, drinks, and tip excluded. Food was very good. Service was very slow. Got in after a long day of travel so the location was great. Right next to the downtown mall, so many less expensive restaurant options available within walking distance.
Sitting choice was not the greatest and it wasn't offered to move to a better spot but now I know to ask for the open area in the restaurant since it was my first time there.
My boyfriend and I decided to try The Pointe for Sunday Brunch that happened to be on Mother’s Day. There was a ton of food - most of it was very good, a few items were just mediocre. The brunch was $49 per person for the buffet, so fairly pricey, but they were offering complimentary mimosas and bloody Marys, which I wish I would have planned for.
Our special occasion was a family reunion of sorts and we really enjoyed the quiet and the excellent food. Thank you to all who helped us that evening.
This is the third time that our group has come for lunch after seeing a film at the Violet Crown Theater. We always have the lunch buffet. The food is delicious and service is excellent! My wife says that it is the one of the best bargains in Charlottesville. Thank you for making these events a delight!
Easter Brunch is nice in the atrium and it was good value for the elaborate buffet.
We had a great meal, starting with the cheese plate and were then rewarded with a perfectly prepared steak (medium rare) and veggies. The service was attentive but not overbearing allowing us to enjoy our meal and people watch. Will come again when we are in the Charlottesville VA area.
Christmas dinner was very good. But still had to pay $6.00 for parking. Scanner did not work.
I made 2 p.m. Christmas dinner reservations for my husband and myself since we were away from home only to get to the restaurant and find out the dinner did not start until 5 p.m. and at 2 p.m. they were closing between the a.m. buffet and the p.m. buffet.
We were looking for a relaxed and dressy casual place to have a lovely Christmas lunch before our formal Christmas dinner later that night . Well, we certainly chose the right place. The people working there and serving us could not have been any lovelier or more accommodat-
Ing! My husband, 21 year old son ( home from college ) and I were all welcomed with smiles from the very beginning. The menu had so many items to choose from that I loved, that I will definitely return for future lunches . All in all, what a delightful find in an area that I have been to many times , but didn't know this little jewel was right under my nose .
I would definitely recommend The Pointe to locals, students or travelers looking for a welcoming smile and a wonderful selection of delicious dishes to try .
I only checked the items that applied to us during lunch for the previous review ..
