Very little for the price !
One mini scone
2 finger sandwiches each
2 gateaux very small slither fingers
Not really what we were expecting.
Had better value else where tbh.
We did query if this was for 4 people to share.
But lovely setting and staff very attentive, polite and did do a lovely sorbet on a plate for our friend retiring from the nhs !
Lovely food, very helpful and friendly staff, fabulous location.
Will definitely be visiting again.
We were having lunch with my 90 year old mother in law. We were first presented with the daily menu, which was a bit fancy for her and rather expensive. I had seen on the website that there was a light lunch menu and I was given that when I asked for it. This was much more suitable and my husband and mother in law enjoyed excellent fish and chips while I had an avocado wrap which was also excellent. The staff were friendly and attentive and we weren’t rushed. It was lovely to sit and watch the activity on the water outside.
Have been a few times now and it's a great location but the food is average.
Lovely spot for lunch. Fabulous views from the Point.
Terrace has good view of the harbour entrance and lots of boat traffic.
Lunch menu is limited, food decent, price OK for what it is.
Reads on the web better than it is.
Nice place some staff more helpful than others. Afternoon tea very pricey for what you get
Lovely Roast as always, great service and lovely atmosphere
Sunday lunch at the Haven, perfect views over Old Harry and harbour entrance, guaranteed good wine, food and service standard, can’t think of a better way to spend Sunday afternoon.
Awful. Sort out your advertising and stop misleading the customer. We were entertaining a friend prior to going back to london at 3pm. We have worked in hotels your F and. B manager customer service approach dreadful. You mislead a set meal menu and try to suggest you will take £2 off. You advertised set meal for 16 95 for two courses. We agreed to one course for £17 had no option or time to find somewhere else on spur moment. Shameful resolution. Will never recommend your restaurant.
Had a table for 3 not sure of prices l think its £21 each for afternoon tea but paid £78 ???
After having our wedding reception at this lovely hotel in 2017 we have been back every year to mark the occasion. Another wonderful champagne afternoon tea made extra special by the welcoming and kind staff of the hotel. Always love coming back to the Haven!
Very tasty afternoon tea and great service! Beautiful setting
Found the menu to be far too limiting with only 4 main course choices. Don't eat red meat so limited choice to 2 items. Took the vegetarian option which in reality turned out to be a mushroom consome and should have been a starter. Regretted not having one of the meat dishes without the meat.
We arrived, was shown to our table with incorrect menus and no drinks list. After 10 mins we still have not had any staff acknowledging us. We called a waiter over, who at this point told us the menus were wrong. New menus arrived, 15 mins later still no service. At this point the kitchen closed for lunch. We left as we received no service for 20 mins. On the way out the restaurant manager who seated us didn’t even apologise. Only gave 1 star as 0 was not possible!
Stunning environment, great for my Nans birthday meal by the sea.
Food was horrific and building so run down and staff ignorant and rude we will not be coming again
Service wasnt at it's best was taken to our table and no drinks orders taken, I had to keep calling a waiter over when required otherwise we would of been left sitting there.
The only thing it has going for it is the view.
Outside table for lunch in the shade overlooking the beach was very relaxing.
Service very good, particularly Mikal.
beautiful food and beautiful view, felt like i was abroad xx
I've dined at the Haven for many years and I'm still persevering .
The view is wonderful, the food 60% of the time is reasonable to good,
service, disorganised to good. On the whole, thank god for the view!
Waited 20 minutes just to get a drink when they only had 3 tables of costumers. Was ‘greeted’ by a rude waitress who ignored us for 15 minutes whilst she finished what she was doing, no hello or anything.
Due to this we decided to only have a drink and not waste our money.
Lovely setting over looking the sea but unfortunately the service was very slow, waited at least 30 mins for drinks to arrive. It was all a bit of a shambles, nobody really knew what they were doing.
Ordered food, fish & chips was dry & over cooked, really disappointing as heard good reviews on the hotel.
The staff were trying their hardest to correct everything as ours wasn’t the only table to complain.
Absolutely fabulous, we sat outside in the sunshine, had wonderful lunchtime meals and watched the boats go by. Thoroughly recommend the Haven.
Excellent service, beautiful views and gorgeous food couldn’t ask for more, we will definitely be back.
But breezy on the terrace despite a hot day. Fresh fish and tasty meal. Not enough carbs and pricey but great location. The round room was crying out for a busy bar and just empty.
The Haven Hotel is my favourite place to sit and look out to sea, it’s in an amazing location. We ate at the restaurant on 1/6/2021 the food was nice and presented well and the staff were nice and friendly. However the appearance of the restaurant it where it falls down. We were guided to our table on arrival walking past bare empty tables that made it look like it was closed. Our table was not laid which gave it the feel more like a canteen the a restaurant in an exclusive location.
This is meant as constructive criticism as we love this place but after eating at The Jetty in Christchurch the previous week the ambiance between the two is miles apart. The management team need to capitalise on the beautiful surroundings and make the restaurant reflect this.
We ordered three gluten free afternoon teas & one vegetarian - the food was incredible and so many gluten free cakes and sweet treats! The scones were also very good. Beautiful view - very relaxing
Lovely food and views slow being served for drinks but food was better food lovely
The Point at the Haven Hotel is one of the best waterside restaurants around. The views are stunning as you are right next to the narrow harbour mouth and thus close to all the ships and boats entering and leaving. Great coastal setting with good food and pleasant staff.
No atmosphere, felt very clinical. Staff not really friendly.
Not going to be rushing back.
Food was very poor and one item was inedible. They did however take it off the bill. Not a very good vegetarian selection. Have been before and it was much better with better vegetarian selection. Sorry will not be returning
A cheery welcome back, can’t wait for the restrictions to be finished, hopefully the two or three course menu will be back, at least on Sunday.
As always a great dining experience X
Nice restaurant with great views. We had pre-booked a table and the one we were shown to was not made up. It didn't look good for a first impression. The menu was small but varied. I had the scallops which were £15 and consisted of one scallop cut into 3 which I thought was ridiculous. I had scallops at Rockfish Poole the night before and got 3 full ones for £9.95. My husband had the duck breast salad which was very nice. For mains I had the sole which was cooked to perfection and one of the nicest fish dishes I have had. My husband had fillet steak and that was also delicious so made up for the poor starter. Overall the food was excellent.
BUT the ambiance was terrible for a Saturday night and absolutely no atmosphere. It seemed like the restaurant couldn't be bothered and it could have been such a lovely setting. No candles, no table setting, no music no atmosphere. We were disappointed but I guess Covid has killed a good night out.
Bland place selling factory prepared food. Glance through the kitchen door shows there is no real cooking or proper chefs.
If all you want is ordinary food which is dolled up on the plate, and low to average money, then this is probably ok. But if you want better, then for sure head elsewhere, wherever that maybe in Poole.
Maybe because of the COVID lockdown and the staff are a little rusty but the service seemed very disorganised. For example, parts of a meal were missing and the sorbet didn't arrive until asked. Generally it was very slow as well. Also, we sat for over 10 minutes after arrival before we were asked for our drinks order.
a. we could not get in through the restaurant door entrance because the electric door would not open and the weather was blowing a gale, so we arrived wet and dishevelled.
b. the sandwich meal was dry and unappetising, the chicken hamburger was dry and tasteless with a stale bun, the mussels were suspiciously odd to look at with many unopened and those that were looked inedible.
c. the restaurant was being used as by a child (and it parents) as its personal playground who continually screamed and shouted throughout the meal.
d. the restaurant was more like a draughty beach side cafe with high priced food.
e. the only saving grace were the staff who were doing a great job.
We ate outside on the terrace
Lovely warm day,
Sea view excellent
Just a lovely 2 and a half hours
Lovely 3 course meal in a quiet setting with a view of the sea. Very good service and did was very good. Would return.
Perfect setting for a special meal. The food and service was exceptional.
