The Point at Glenwood
The food was spectacular and had wonderful flavors. Really great concept with wood fired entrees other than pizza. Food came out quickly and how we had ordered with the food being piping hot. However, the service was very slow and inattentive. Although we wanted to enjoy a leisurely dinner, our waitress would disappear for lengthly periods of time, plates were not cleared and some items forgotten where we needed to remind were needed. Other tables looked to be receiving more timely service so it could be a one off situation, but disappointing.
We went for the Father’s Day brunch. Service was great. We had the same server we’d had during our first visit in May. The food was ok. The grits on the buffet had no salt at all and were very bland, which was disappointing cause 3 of us in our party really wanted the shrimp and grits. Everything else tasted fine. We loved the made to order omelets and the $5 mimosas!
I enjoyed the wood fired seafood and my daughter enjoyed making her own pizza, nice touch!
Good neighborhood restaurant. Good food at a good value. Excellent service. Can be a bit loud when crowded. A go to place
Just awesome all around - 5 stars every category. Cool environment- had a great time trying this place for the first time.
Love the crabcakes and excellent side salad. Scott is our all time favorite waiter and even remembers the wine I like! Point Halibut is also very good. Bootlegger was enjoyed by another who said is was great with peppered sides as well as sauce.
The pizzas were delicious. Our service couldn’t have been better! Going back as soon as possible!
a great little find in the heart of Five Points. Very good menu selection that includes apps, salads, sandwiches, entrees. I had the soup of the day, a bourbon onion soup and it was delicious! then a steak salad - also very good. Very solid experience with 5 of us dining. only downside was i wanted a vodka and grapefruit juice (Greyhound) and they didn't have the juice at the bar. I lived with a cranberry and vodka.
Always a joy! One of those classic neighbourhood restaurants where everyone feels like family. Nothing better than sharing a fairly priced bottle of wine with yummy hot crab dip and enjoying either the famous lasagna, big chopped salad with shrimp or salmon, burgers, freshly made wood-fired pizza or any of the many options available. Dine inside in a booth or table, outside with umbrellas tables or at one of the two bar areas. Definitely a tried and true place.
This review should be take with a grain of salt because we visited The Point on Mother's Day, which is the busiest restaurant day of the year.
That said, my issues were with the food, not the service. I ordered one of the specials - Shrimp and Grits. Weirdly it came with corn bread (which I never got) and two sides. The choices of sides were Honey Roasted Brussel Sprouts, Roasted Broccoli, Baked Potato and one other thing I can't remember, but I believe it was a starch.
I didn't want any of those sides but ordered the brussel sprouts and potato (which I took home). The brussel sprouts were literally one of the worst things I've ever eaten. They were not 'roasted' but soggy and weirdly sweet (I always drizzle mine in maple syrup but these were gross).
The shrimp and grit came out cold (how could that be for a special of the night). The flavor was good enough, though it came with bay shrimp and I'm used to nice large shrimp.
The Seared Tuna was okay, but bland. The pizzas were very good. The onion rings were terrific!
All in all, not my favorite. However, it may be one of the those places where if you order right - pizza and burgers (which looked good) you end up with a delicious and inexpensive dinner.
Food was adequate, it not to write home about, fair at best Service was poor, considering it was it as crowded as on other Rialto Cinema Inc. movie nights. server was rude
Very nice experience
Mother’s Day brunch we were 2nd group seated in dining area. Waited 5-10 minutes before server greeted us our server was MIA most of our meal. Server dropped check off then retrieved when payment presented. We paid with cash and waited another 10 minutes for our change. Food was saving grace for this meal as our server was not attentive and having flies buzz around our table was unappetizing.
The food was fantastic as always. The place was very crowded due to being Mother’s Day weekend, graduations going and graduations. That being said very very noisy. Every other time we’ve been there it’s wonderful you always return.
Took forever to get seated. There was not a hostess at the desk. Food was ok.
Wonderful food, delightful people, difficult parking . . .
Sunday Brunch at The Point at Glenwood food and service is outstanding. Will be back again and a must if you have not been for brunch!
We went for Easter Brunch! It was a great deal for the price! Buffet included prime rib, shrimp and grits as well as other breakfast and lunch options! They have made to order omelets and waffles! Very tasty and service was fast!
The food was fantastic! All the food was fresh and cooked perfectly. Our first time here. Many beer selections. Good wine list. Will return.
Love Sunday brunch buffet
Great Sunday brunch for the price!
Have eaten at The Point many times for lunch but just found out they have a Sunday brunch buffet. Very pleased with the quality of food, service, selection, and price. In fact, I cannot think of anything negative about our dining experience. I expect we will be back again soon.
Great food and service! Love the Point Halibut. Only wish it was not quite as loud....think about adding some noise baffles? Thanks, enjoy seeing a neighborhood restaurant do well.
A nice little neighborhood spot but the noise level was impossible to talk across a booth.
Great pizza! Great beer! Excellent service. Great family dinning-grandkids love it.
Dirty. Food was lukewarm. Syrup for then waffles and pancakes was cold. Tumblers from which you drink water were milky and discolored. One dish that we ordered had a piece of paper in it. We were comped for that meal, however. I will say that the staff tried their best to render service. At the end of the day, however, I will not visit again.
The Point was excellent. The food was good, and they have added some new dishes to their menu.
The service was good and we enjoyed a good time.
Nice variety of food and service was quick and efficient. I will definitely be back!
The point is our go to place. Affordable and casual and great food. It’s a perfect neighborhood family restaurant
We like the point but I ordered chicken pot pie and it was awful!! I had it before and it was good but this time No!! There was not one piece if chicken in it!! Nothing but 6 chunks of carrots and gravy!! A big disappointment!! It will be awhile before I go there again!!
Food very good and fresh. Service a little slow due to lack of servers.
We made early reservations at The Point in the hopes of being seated in one of the three smaller booths, but were told larger parties had already reserved them. When these parties arrived, they consisted of two persons, two persons, and three persons. There were only two of us as well, so I'm wondering what's needed to reserve a booth at The Point? Open Table doesn't seem to offer a means of making this request. Should I simply call The Point directly, bypassing Open Table? Unless I learn otherwise, that's what I'll do next time.
The other disappointment was our server. He was amiable enough but his mind seemed otherwise occupied. Our drinks and entrees came promptly enough but we saw little of him after that. I caught his eye early in the meal to order another round of drinks. These came after we had finished our meal. I then had to flag him down to request our check. When he brought it, he himself mentioned he had been distracted and apologized for his tardiness. It was kind of him to apologize but his distance did affect our enjoyment of the evening.
We've been going to The Point for over ten years and will certainly not judge all previous dinners by this experience. In fact, I decided to write this because it is such an exception. We love it being a casual neighborhood sports bar with good food, good drink, and bad parking. It was only our experience with seating and service that made this trip mediocre.
Love the Point halibut dish....so delicious. Thanks, Scott, for the excellent service.
Overall the service was great. We arrived about 1:30pm ..the last 30 mins of Brunch. My food, shrimp/grits and salmon could have been hot. It was warm. When we visit again I will make every effort to come earlier. My son in law, daughter and grandson thoroughly enjoyed the waffles and fried chicken. We will definitely be back.
This was my first time dining at Glenwood. The food and service was great.
Took forever to get food and bread. 2 out of 4 dishes were not cooked per request. Roasted Brussel sprouts were not roasted and barely cooked . Will never go back . Unfortunate , it is convenient to Raleigh Cinema Inc. not worth it! Forgot soup was not hot! BAD!
This was just horrible experience. The waitstaff lacked training, sloppily dressed, and unprepared. The worst dining experience I've had in years.
Arrived five minutes early for our reservation. Was told that we could be seated immediately at a high top in the bar or wait several minutes for a booth to be cleaned. We chose the high top and were greeted by our server a couple minutes later. The table was right by the kitchen which made for a lot of foot traffic but not overly bothersome. I would choose a booth in the main dining area in the future. Food was good with the exception of my husband's prime rib having a section of pure fat at one end measuring approximately two inches by two inches. My dog is very pleased with that though. Service was fast and friendly and I would return. The only issue I truly had is that we were marked as not having kept our reservation when we clearly had. Better attention to that detail in the future would be appreciated.
Great place for groups and families. We ended up at a high top near the very crowded bar. Noisy spot but good food and service.
This place had such high reviews. I was very disappointed. Service was terrible. It was so loud. Food was just average.
