The Plumed horse has private rooms available for 4 up to 200 people.
View Private Dining DetailsOnce again, Plumed Horse provided delicious, innovative food and excellent service. The new tasting menu is full of contrasts in flavors and textures. We still find the constantly changing colors and brightness of the lights disconcerting. It distracts from the food. The kitchen works hard to create visual appeal for the food and this is often spoiled as colors float over the plate or the light suddenly darkens.
Amazing!!!!!! Such a wonderful experience. Wine, food, service all were outstanding.
4th wedding Anniversary
Good food, weird music choice (90s whitney houston?), ok service.
Celebrating our 45th Wedding Anniversary was a wonderful experience at this lovely restaurant. Truly a classic.
Great staff and service. The food was good, but it wasn't impressive. Maybe I had too high of expectations. The wine pairing that came with the chef's tasting didn't wow me either. I had the vegetarian tasting menu and it was good and glad I got to experience it. Some dishes were good, some were misses.
The restaurant itself is nicely decorated and elegant, except the changing light! The ceiling light fixtures changed colors and took away from the experience.
We went there to celebrate an engagement. The staff was excellent - they took care of putting the gift on the table and offered to take pictures without being asked. The service was attentive yet nor overbearing.
The menu was a problem however. We were being strongly guided to a large prix-fixe tasting menu which we all decided was far more than we could eat. Having resisted the pressure to go for the tasting menu we were left with few options: A short selection of appetizers and a shorter still selection of entrees - most of which were fish.
The souffle appetizer save the day there - it is worth going to this place on its own - but I ordered the "suckling pig" for the entree which frankly was very disappointing. It was slices of rolled pork with a rather tough skin rind. I did not finish it.
Bottom line: If you go for the large tasting menu it is probably a fine experience. If not I would give it a miss (unless you are addicted to the appetizer souffles like us).
$550 for two people (one not drinking) for a very average dinner.
Marvelous experience, excellent food, attentive staff. Great place for a special occasion.
We selected the wine paired tasting menu. I never received my cocktail, and my wife never got to sample her pre dinner champagne that we ordered to toast her birthday, before the first course was served. At that point, I asked our server to not bring my cocktail, and to remove my wife's champagne. He apologized. We didn't even have a breath to enjoy the food and drink of the first course when the second course was placed in front of us. At that point my wife asked the waiter "why the rush", and the waiter looked dumb, no response. The dinner slowed down but she still had half of the first course wine the new second course wine and the untouched champagne from our toast that never took place.... We had a great evening, interrupted by an unpolished, or maybe raciest, waiter.
Second time there in two weeks. Food was fantastic both times though disappointed no changes at all on tasting menu between two dates. Wine by bottle options are way overpriced!
Top 5 best meals I've had, ever. Manny and the wait staff that made the night extremely special. The prefix menu was absolutely insane.
We have been here at least 2 other times in the past. Great place for a date. Nice dining room with great wine selection. Service was good but seemed rather inattentive to our table. Their food has been good but never outstanding. While tasty, their technique of sous vide cooking their meats give it an odd texture. Overall had a nice meal but not necessarily memorable or outstanding.
Beautifully decorated. Wonderful private ambience, romantic. Decorative lighting. 1 sprinkler head appeared to be leaking that may be cause for alarm if a continuous pinhole leak.
Slightly confusing pricing on foie gras for current tasting menu( 3/16/18). It suggested that 158 included all items above in the list, but for grabs or souffle were apparently extra. They are in the list.
Service was very good and an explanation for the pricing add was also professionally done.
Maitr d' and Master sommelier and servers really excelled.
Lovely experience.
Out of town viisitor
Very nice dinner, food was great and service was great.
The food was good. The wine service from the pairing felt a bit rushed. As soon as we were done with a course, the next course's wine was poured, often before we had a chance to finish the glass before it.
We love this restaurant. It is our favorite in the Bay Area. Although quite pricey, it is a dining experience. Impressive food and wine list; the service is top notch. Manny and Joseph provide exceptional service.
Fab food as always
This is a beautiful restaurant with great ambience. And terrific service. The help really knows how to take care of diners. That said, we ordered the cod and pig roast. Both were mediocre at best. I ate haft the cod. Further, there is nothing on the menu resembling a salad...they made up some nicely appointed but very limited greens....a few pieces of asparagus. For these prices
one expects very good food. Underwelmed.
We had our wedding anniversary there. Although probably not suitable for kids, they were very accommodating. Everything was really great! The service was accommodating, the food was delicious, the mood and the environment was very good.
I saw some bad reviews so I was a little hesitant going in but my experience was nothing short of fantastic. I got the special chefs table and the accompanying menu. All the food was perfect. Some great and others amazing. The wine pairing (upgraded) was well worth it. Definitely pricey but if you just want a memorable food and wine experience then this is a great place to stop. Will definitely be back but for al la carte since the chefs tasting menu was a little bit too much food for me.
Great spot for special occasions. Very attentive service. Made our anniversary celebration extra special. Very fancy and very expensive.
We had the prefix menu with the A5 (Waygu) adder...EACH COURSE WAS OUTSTANDING including the dessert - extensive wine list, we stuck with the regular Caymus & Special Select Caymus.....Chocolates & Port at the end of the meal...again, over the top! If you have to look at the prices, it's a bit much...but it is one of the best dining experiences you'll ever have.
This is by our favorite upscale, special occasion restaurant. Highly recommend for any special occasion. Food is amazing along with the service and ambiance.
Fantastic meal that we will remember for a long time. Exceptional service!
Very nice experience, but very very expensive to do the Chef tasting with the wine pairing. If I were to go back I would just order one item and a glass of water.
We were celebrating our anniversary, and the experience was exquisite. Excellent ambiance. They did an amazing job catering to our individual allergy needs (I am allergic to wheat, my husband to tree nuts.) The food was delicious and beautiful. I would go here again.
Valentines Day was supposedly a special occasion. No flowers on table, not a single vase of a Rose for the ladies, no a mouse bouchée offering, servers did not take time explaining the dishes; one server was talking while trying to walk away; service in between meals took forever; we did not get ask if we wanted coffee or tea.
The Caucasian hostess needs some training on how to greet guests on the phone and in person. She wasn't speaking clearly and being unfriendly on the phone with me when I called to be arrived late. I am not sure if she was having a bad day since there was No smile from her for the entire evening when she greeted us and my boyfriend thought she was rude to me.
I proposed to my girlfriend here. The food is great and the decor is great.
Excellent food, perfect for a special occasion.
We highly recommend the tasting menu. You will not be disappointed. It is obvious why they have maintained a Michelin star since reopening. The food is amazing from taste to presentation. The service is outstanding. This is a wonderful restaurant for a memorable special occasion.
Birthday dinner for my husband. Manuel knows us and treats us like family. Love this place-it is very special!
Snacks are much better than their entrees. The pork is a little fishy but its fried skin is perfect.
Bread and chef's gift little hand food are awesome.
Overall it is a good experience. We tried the tasting menu. While other dishes were good and unique, the Scallop dish and the Blue Cheese were not up to what we would think a Michelin level restaurant would be. Scallop was really really salty. I thought it was the broth but it actually the scallop. Both mine and my wife's plates were salty. Wine pairing choice for the scallop was also not good. It didn't add any flavor to the dish. Perhaps the overly saltiness clashed with the wine flavor. The blue cheese dish was out of place, I am not sure why it was sandwiched between scallop and Wagyu beef. The flavor was so strong that turned the saltiness of the scallop to bitterness, and basically numbed my palate from enjoying the premium beef. Dessert was OK. The dish was very very busy with so many things on it, yet no one thing stood out so we can give credit to. I am sure if this meant to be a potpourri of desserts presentation?
If we come back, will have to be a single wine with a single dish attempt. Tasting menu didn't convince us to come back for more. Service was good, efficient, attentive but a bit cold. Again, at this level (for meal that cost almost as much as my first car after high school), we expect more...a personal and unique experience.
We visited there on a Saturday evening for our anniversary. Because of that, all the restaurant employees treated us in a manner that it was a meaningful event. Nice and professional servers, high quality and creative food on the menu, complimentary drinks and deserts, and special gift of wine to take home. Time and money well spent for a memorable dinner event.
We have been to the Plumed Horse three times. Every time we go, I am shocked at how horribly we are treated by the hostesses. I can’t decide if they are rude or intellectually challenged.
Once they brought us to the wine room and left us there. Just left us in the room with our guests.
Another time, they left us in the lounge and we had to remind them that we were we waiting and that we had arrived. Not to mention they are dressed like strippers. Very sad way to start a nice evening.
Good food but terrible value to price ratio. We chose the chef’s tasting menu and they offered a substitution for Foie Gras. In the end we noticed we were charged almost $100 extra for that change (on the top of the $158 per person for the chefs tasting menu). So all together with wine pairing for one came out to be ~$650
The Black Pepper Parmesan Soufflé was to die for. The best I’ve had hands down. The Tarragon Potato Gnocchi was delicious as well. The Suckling Pig and Japanese Wagyu were Phenomenal. Definitely competes with “The Sea” by Alexander’s.
