FABULOUS A first time local visitor there to meet old friends who are down in Cornwall for our wedding.
What can we say? First class in every way. The young waiter who was tall and wore glasses was about as good as it gets. We will be back soon.
This restaurant never fails to impress the, the ambience is always lovely, the food last night was incredible, I had the Vegetarian curry which was amazing, such a depth of flavour!
I booked a table for 5.30 pm on the 15th/08/21 I did so because it’s my wife & I’s 5th wedding anniversary I booked because I had eaten at your restaurant several years ago & enjoyed a great variety in the menu & excellently cooked food.
When I saw the menu that we were presented with at our table I immediately realised that this was no better than we could have found in dozens of “plastic pubs” across the U.K. & the waitress could not tell us the difference between a sirloin & a rump steak things were not looking good ...she also left our table without pouring the bottle of Prosecco we had ordered, I immediately felt that this was not the sign the quality restaurant I had visited before.
When our food arrived the steak was tough & the sauce was cold & the only option of vegetables was broccoli & that was it ... in short we were so upset with the bad quality of food & service that we cancelled our meal & left... I send this e-mail not to be one if those people that moans about everything but to let you how upset we were on what was supposed to be a special evening for us ... so much so that I will simply not bother ever booking a meal at your restaurant again.
Mr & Mrs S.Kilby
We book at the last minute on the way home from Truro.
Food, service, staff excellent, couldn’t fault it.
Will definitely be back A+
Great restaurant lovely food and fab customer service.
Took my 92 year young father for a quiet lunch and it was perfect
He had fish and chips and I had the salmon
Great food. Attentive staff. We will defintely book again.
Excellent service, excellent food, excellent price!!! One of the best places to eat in Cornwall by far!! Would highly recommend
First of all the food was amazing, lovely quality and would recommend the food.
We however felt the service was fairly poor, we arrived for our booking at 11am and was asked if we wanted lunch or breakfast. We though being 11am it would have only been breakfast but since offered we decided to go for lunch. We were then told lunch can't be ordered until 12 and no menus were printed yet to look at before being left with a drinks menu. A hour before ordering was too long to wait with a child so asked if we could have breakfast instead and was told "the breakfast has finished now and the kitchen is being cleaned down". The kitchen kindly did us breakfast but it felt like a big problem which confused us as 5 minutes before we were offered breakfast (however some walk ins came in at 11:30 and ordered breakfast with no issues). Our order was incorrect and when breakfast did come out correctly we were missing toast on one of the portions which became a problem when asking for it.
As I said the food was amazing but unsure if we would visit again due to being made to feel like an inconvenience which is a shame as we had heard such amazing things and had saved coming for my husbands birthday.
The ambience and food were lovely. Great environment too. Sadly service was a little slow but we understand that is prevalent within the sector given Covid and staff constraints!
We really did have a lovely evening though there was one man in the bar area who got increasingly louder as the night wore on and who spoilt the ambience.
But if we were back in the locality we would still go again.
Thank you for a nice evening. 😊
A good evening as usual. All the food was great! Ham, egg and chips very filling but very tasty with lots of tasty pickles and slaw, the egg was actually a scotch egg with a runny yolk! Also Malaysian chicken for my wife who said it was lovely, as well as a brownie for pudding! We were in the conservatory and it was full and noisy. Service was good if a little slow, 45 minute from sitting down to food on the table. But who knows what the kitchen was having to cope with, Covid restrictions and a full restaurant to boot. Would definitely recommend.
We had a nice evening meal at the Plume of Feathers. The food was really good unfortunately the service was quite slow. This maybe due to staffing levels due to C19??
I only wish we had a pub like this close to where we live as it's a really nice place
We will go back again next time we are down in Newquay, especially as we could top-up our Tesla!
It was all pleasant but not amazing. Wrong order delivered (a sandwich rather than the salad that was ordered) but quickly rectified.
Fries in the mug weren’t particularly good value - approx. 10p per chip.
Overall, it didn’t seem overly busy yet I noticed all 6 tables in the conservatory were all waiting at the same time to have their plates cleared despite finishing eating awhile ago. The waiting staff seemed to have disappeared.
I would think maximising the spend per table is important but taking ages to clear main courses kind of puts people off ordering deserts and coffees.
Waiting staff were polite, food was nice but would we regularly go back, possibly not.
Lovely food in nice atmosphere - worth a visit if nearby
The service was fine and our waitress was lovely. We feel that the menu should change, as it has been the same for a long time. There were no specials, so really not enough choice.
Not a good experience, very unorganised, could of been a lot better, needs reviewing and look at the value for money on the size of potions, burger not very nice
Everything was perfect as usual ..
I will be back again ASAP !
We have been staying in Newquay on holiday for the last few days and we booked here for lunch with our 18 month old son. We sat in the conservatory which was very clean and bright. The young waitress was so polite and pleasant. Everyone was so nice and helpful. Our son didn’t like his meal but nothing was too much trouble for the waitress who brought some bread out. We loved our starter and main. The food was tasty and large servings. Plenty of parking. Would recommend
My partner and I came here on our holiday following it’s good reviews on here and we weren’t disappointed. Absolutely fabulous food and great selection on the menu, lots of pub classics but other exciting bits too and all served immaculately. Staff were friendly. Plenty of car parking and nice building. We were in the conservatory extension - would have preferred the other room we saw when we arrived inside but still nice, just a bit less atmosphere. Would definitely come again on future holidays!
Lovely service and very nice ambience ,
Nicer in the main pub than the conservatory.
Service ran very smoothly despite staff shortage - well done
Good food and nicely presented. Service at table was quick and friendly.
Noise level is higher than it once was as they have taken out the carpets to reveal wooden floors.
Excellent venue & gourmet food. Sadly our experience was let down by poor service, inexperienced staff that were totally unattentive. This was a complete contrast to last year's management and personnel.
Brilliant meal, great food and good service
The loveliest restaurant. Food is brilliant we came for a Sunday dinner, everything was so tasty. Staff was so friendly and welcoming. We came again last night and the food was brilliant. If we come back to Cornwall we’ll be coming back
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal with you on Tuesday evening. The new decor is very pleasing and relaxing. We were pleased to be seated in the airy conservatory on a hot evening and widely spaced between tables during these pandemic times.
The food was delicious. The marmalade chutney with my duck pate was perfect. The flavours in all the dishes were complimentary to the main ingredient. Would loved to have tried the puddings but we could only manage a small sorbet.
Would recommend and return as so many things I would like to try on the menu.
Thank you for a lovely evening
Very good service excellent value
There wasn’t much vegan food, I would like to see more fish dishes because we are coastal
Food was fantastic. Service was very good. Excellent meal
Excellent Sunday roast, good value three courses. Good service from a small team obviously under pressure due to the current staffing issues but pleasant and helpful. Would not hesitate to recommend. We will certainly visit again when we are in Cornwall. A hidden gem.
Good quality Sunday lunch in traditional Cornish pub. Excellent service and pleasant atmosphere.
Great food and service. Lovely for a Sunday lunch and for the quality of the meal, a reasonable price .
Great food. Lovely waiting staff. Slow service. As always.
Fantastic, dog friendly gastro pub. Great food.
Food was wonderful and staff were lovely. Will definitely be back again.
The food was delicious, and the service was quick and friendly. I have multiple food allergies and these were dealt with in a professional manner. We also had a baby with us and was given a comfortable high chair for him to use.
Very impressed, we will return.
It’s a great venue with friendly staff and great food a real hidden gem
Lovely food and great service. Not too expensive either. Lovely steak and bbq
Tasty food and with the steaks on offer really good value. Service was a little slow but friendly and helpful.
Beautiful homemade pie 🥧 with hand cut chips! Amazing moules frites abs the beer is cellared perfectly
