The Pluckemin Inn Ratings and Reviews
I took someone very special to dinner the day after Valentine's Day to enjoy a more peaceful, charming evening together. We enjoyed the ambiance of this quaint, charming restaurant. The service from the minute we stepped into the Inn until we left was superb; friendly, helpful but not overbearing. The food was prepared, presented & served at high standard.
We were first presented with a complimentary amuse-bouche that was creative & delicious. I ordered the raw oysters, a ragu fazzoletti & the NY strip steak. All were delicious!
Most of the restaurants I go to leave me wanting, or just plain forgetful. We left that evening with smiles on our faces, full bellies & a promise to return soon.
Fabulous wine list and that is the main reason to visit. The Pluckemin 200 is a list of wines that cost less than $75. And there are many great options. There is a separate list for those who can afford more. The food is well cooked and classic. Not much pushing of boundaries here but well executed. Staff are knowledgeable and appropriately attentive. The crowd here is typically 50 plus (in my experience). Roaring fire, French Syrah and good food. 2 thins up.
Overall experience was lovely - however, for price and current reviews, the dinner did not meet my expectation. Our table was very nice and what I requested, near the fireplace on second floor. The service was attentive, but not super. Wait staff did not know answers to menu questions and it was not consistent. Appetizers were highlight of dinner and they were excellent - grilled octopus tender and flavorful, winter salad beautiful presentation and again great flavors. Entrees were lacking in flavor - especially the winter risotto - bland and portion size extremely small - for "requested entree". Desserts good - especially the cheesecake, fluffy, great flavor and perfect size.
We went for the first time and don't know why we waited so long. It's fine dining in a comfortable, classy setting. Our waitress was very knowledgable on the menu. Two of the small plates with a small order of fish was perfect for one person. The beef tartar was decadent. The octopus was tender. Everything was delicious. Can't wait for our next special occasion to make another visit!
Pleasantly surprised. I expected good, but this place was awesome. The service had it's flaws, but overall was good. The food was remarkable. The various tables were not too close to one another. They were able to accommodate my vegetarian wife and she is the tends to have difficulties. I had the pork and king crab salad. Left satiated even after dessert. Truly a gem and I will certainly return!
One of my favorite restaurants. The food, service and ambiance are consistently excellent. The only slightly negative comment is that the gluten free options are limited. The wine list is truly awesome - awe inspiring. And, the best deal on wine is on Friday evenings. We absolutely love this place!
We were meeting some friends from Michigan, in for the holidays, and just wanted a quieter place to chat with them. The Pluckemin Inn was lovely. We hung out together for a few hours. The waiter was attentive but not overbearing. The lunch menu was not extensive but had enough variety for everyone. They do not have a large selection of beers on tap but the local IPA was very good.
My bicycling club often starts at a lot near the Pluckemin Inn. I would drive by and keeping telling myself to try out this establishment. I'm glad I did!
So disappointed. We’d been to the Pluckemin Inn many times before but this was not a good night. My husband and I both ordered the $60 Steak special. My medium well steak came back medium rare; sent it back and the second one was rare; sent it back and the third was medium. I kept that one since at this point my husband was basically done with his dinner. Our waitress ddin’t even come to check - we had to ask the other staff. Also, we realized that table behind us and next to us were offered bread but we were never offered any. They comped my steak and our cocktails so that was good on their part. But not sure if I’d go back.
From start to finish, our dining experience was outstanding! Friendly valet service, warm greeting from hostess, beautiful setting upstairs near the fire. The server was extremely accommodating without being obtrusive. He was right there when we needed him, but not constantly interrupting conversation. We were celebrating a holiday get together with family who had never been there before and they enjoyed every moment. The food was superb and just the right portion size. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening. Thank you!
The food is excellent but the service was a bit of a problem. We ordered coffee and it never came, and we asked to purchase two bottles of wine and was charged per glass instead of the cost of the bottle to take home. If I had not caught the mistake we would have paid more than three times what we should have.
They are offering discounts on their extensive wine list which allows you to purchase an outstanding bottle you may not have in your wine cellar at a more affordable price and pair it with a great meal. Wife had fish and I had venison, both were well prepared and terrific. Service is very responsive and ambiance exceptional.
We were there for our first time and for a special occasion (Anniversary). The food and service were very good indeed. The dishes were tasty, creative and right in portions. I would have no problem in recommending the restaurant for friends. Our server(s) were polite, explained menu items well. Our only regret for the evening was that we were seated next to another group of women, who were boisterous (hate to say it, but very) pretty much throughout the evening (coinciding with our stay). Unfortunately, this detracted from our evening, let alone conversation. In fact, about half way thru our meal, I thought we saw a young couple being moved to another location. While I realize that it is not always in the Restaurant's control as to how the clients behave, I would have preferred that we were offered a choice of another table. We were a party of 3 and I am sure other tables were available.
