The Pluckemin Inn Ratings and Reviews
One of my favorite restaurants. The food, service and ambiance are consistently excellent. The only slightly negative comment is that the gluten free options are limited. The wine list is truly awesome - awe inspiring. And, the best deal on wine is on Friday evenings. We absolutely love this place!
We were meeting some friends from Michigan, in for the holidays, and just wanted a quieter place to chat with them. The Pluckemin Inn was lovely. We hung out together for a few hours. The waiter was attentive but not overbearing. The lunch menu was not extensive but had enough variety for everyone. They do not have a large selection of beers on tap but the local IPA was very good.
My bicycling club often starts at a lot near the Pluckemin Inn. I would drive by and keeping telling myself to try out this establishment. I'm glad I did!
So disappointed. We’d been to the Pluckemin Inn many times before but this was not a good night. My husband and I both ordered the $60 Steak special. My medium well steak came back medium rare; sent it back and the second one was rare; sent it back and the third was medium. I kept that one since at this point my husband was basically done with his dinner. Our waitress ddin’t even come to check - we had to ask the other staff. Also, we realized that table behind us and next to us were offered bread but we were never offered any. They comped my steak and our cocktails so that was good on their part. But not sure if I’d go back.
From start to finish, our dining experience was outstanding! Friendly valet service, warm greeting from hostess, beautiful setting upstairs near the fire. The server was extremely accommodating without being obtrusive. He was right there when we needed him, but not constantly interrupting conversation. We were celebrating a holiday get together with family who had never been there before and they enjoyed every moment. The food was superb and just the right portion size. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening. Thank you!
The food is excellent but the service was a bit of a problem. We ordered coffee and it never came, and we asked to purchase two bottles of wine and was charged per glass instead of the cost of the bottle to take home. If I had not caught the mistake we would have paid more than three times what we should have.
They are offering discounts on their extensive wine list which allows you to purchase an outstanding bottle you may not have in your wine cellar at a more affordable price and pair it with a great meal. Wife had fish and I had venison, both were well prepared and terrific. Service is very responsive and ambiance exceptional.
We were there for our first time and for a special occasion (Anniversary). The food and service were very good indeed. The dishes were tasty, creative and right in portions. I would have no problem in recommending the restaurant for friends. Our server(s) were polite, explained menu items well. Our only regret for the evening was that we were seated next to another group of women, who were boisterous (hate to say it, but very) pretty much throughout the evening (coinciding with our stay). Unfortunately, this detracted from our evening, let alone conversation. In fact, about half way thru our meal, I thought we saw a young couple being moved to another location. While I realize that it is not always in the Restaurant's control as to how the clients behave, I would have preferred that we were offered a choice of another table. We were a party of 3 and I am sure other tables were available.
My friends and I have had lunch here many times. Its a lovely restaurant with many delicious offerings from different salads, pasta, and/or sandwiches. The service this time was less than attentive which was strange as there were only two other tables of people having lunch. It seems strange that you have to specifically ask for bread, salt, or another bottle of water when the first has been empty for 10 minutes. The food is beautiful and delicious though and I have never had a bad meal here.
Excellent service but for the price the food was totally disappointing. A mushroom salad was too salty. My wife ordered a veal chop. It was extremely fatty, agreed upon by the waiter but still charged $40 for this item. Won’t go back ...and this was rated as one of the top 25 restaurants in NJ.
Naff restaurant. Shared space with a port bar. Low class customers in polo and tacky clothes.
Food is ok and very salty. Very basic American cuisine.
Wine list is long but unbalanced. A lot of burgundy and by very little Bordeaux.
Bordeaux They have there are not from good years.
Staff is nice but clueless about good manners.
Ambiance: pretty dead as most clients are people are old.
Very boring expeirence both in the atmspher and in your plate.l
Disappointed. Limited menu. Pushing to order a mid-course in addition to appetizer which comes in tiny portions. Also pushing tasting menu for an exhorbitant price. Items such as foi gras are offered only in the tasting menu. I had apple strudel for dessert, which had a rancid taste-obviously very old in storage. The menu is heavily biased toward Italian with pasta everywhere (for which I would go elsewhere). The food was vapid throughout. This place is finding its decline in extensive commercialization from what it used to be-a cosy bucolic inn in Pluckemin which offered tasty food. Will not go there again until they change their business model.
Food was up to the Plucky's usual high standards. Availability of small plates a real plus. Server was a little hard to understand and table bussing was a bit intrusive. One of our wine glasses was removed before empty. Server at an adjoining table helped fill the gap in service. Overall, still a good experience.
