Food is very good but if you want to command the prices they deserve, you have to match food with good service. We requested to see the server 3 times by way of the bread or water waiter. Wherever she hid, it was very good because we couldn't find her.

As always excellent service. Professional staff. Food was outstanding, nice portions. One of the best restaurants in New Jersey. Best in Somerset county by far.

Great Food and Service! Third time dining here in the last couple of years and have had a great meal every time. Wine list and seasonal cocktails are excellent.

Been to PI many times. This time I had the salmon which I did not care for it too mushy. That being said would not stop us from returning.

So disappointed. We’d been to the Pluckemin Inn many times before but this was not a good night. My husband and I both ordered the $60 Steak special. My medium well steak came back medium rare; sent it back and the second one was rare; sent it back and the third was medium. I kept that one since at this point my husband was basically done with his dinner. Our waitress ddin’t even come to check - we had to ask the other staff. Also, we realized that table behind us and next to us were offered bread but we were never offered any. They comped my steak and our cocktails so that was good on their part. But not sure if I’d go back.

From start to finish, our dining experience was outstanding! Friendly valet service, warm greeting from hostess, beautiful setting upstairs near the fire. The server was extremely accommodating without being obtrusive. He was right there when we needed him, but not constantly interrupting conversation. We were celebrating a holiday get together with family who had never been there before and they enjoyed every moment. The food was superb and just the right portion size. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening. Thank you!

The food is excellent but the service was a bit of a problem. We ordered coffee and it never came, and we asked to purchase two bottles of wine and was charged per glass instead of the cost of the bottle to take home. If I had not caught the mistake we would have paid more than three times what we should have.

Food and service were superior. Dinner entree menu reasonably priced. I had the Griggstown chicken and it practically melted in my mouth as it was soft and juicy. All four of us enjoyed our meals.

They are offering discounts on their extensive wine list which allows you to purchase an outstanding bottle you may not have in your wine cellar at a more affordable price and pair it with a great meal. Wife had fish and I had venison, both were well prepared and terrific. Service is very responsive and ambiance exceptional.

We were there for our first time and for a special occasion (Anniversary). The food and service were very good indeed. The dishes were tasty, creative and right in portions. I would have no problem in recommending the restaurant for friends. Our server(s) were polite, explained menu items well. Our only regret for the evening was that we were seated next to another group of women, who were boisterous (hate to say it, but very) pretty much throughout the evening (coinciding with our stay). Unfortunately, this detracted from our evening, let alone conversation. In fact, about half way thru our meal, I thought we saw a young couple being moved to another location. While I realize that it is not always in the Restaurant's control as to how the clients behave, I would have preferred that we were offered a choice of another table. We were a party of 3 and I am sure other tables were available.

I normally enjoy dining here however the Fall Menu is not very inspirational. The service was mediocre and it took forever to receive our food. The food was tepid and not that tasty.

We had a celebratory dinner with close friends at the restaurant. Service was excellent, we were not at all rushed and the food itself was very good. It is an expensive restaurant, but we all agreed the experience was well worth it.

My friends and I have had lunch here many times. Its a lovely restaurant with many delicious offerings from different salads, pasta, and/or sandwiches. The service this time was less than attentive which was strange as there were only two other tables of people having lunch. It seems strange that you have to specifically ask for bread, salt, or another bottle of water when the first has been empty for 10 minutes. The food is beautiful and delicious though and I have never had a bad meal here.

Excellent service but for the price the food was totally disappointing. A mushroom salad was too salty. My wife ordered a veal chop. It was extremely fatty, agreed upon by the waiter but still charged $40 for this item. Won’t go back ...and this was rated as one of the top 25 restaurants in NJ.

Naff restaurant. Shared space with a port bar. Low class customers in polo and tacky clothes.
Food is ok and very salty. Very basic American cuisine.
Wine list is long but unbalanced. A lot of burgundy and by very little Bordeaux.
Bordeaux They have there are not from good years.
Staff is nice but clueless about good manners.
Ambiance: pretty dead as most clients are people are old.
Very boring expeirence both in the atmspher and in your plate.l

Disappointed. Limited menu. Pushing to order a mid-course in addition to appetizer which comes in tiny portions. Also pushing tasting menu for an exhorbitant price. Items such as foi gras are offered only in the tasting menu. I had apple strudel for dessert, which had a rancid taste-obviously very old in storage. The menu is heavily biased toward Italian with pasta everywhere (for which I would go elsewhere). The food was vapid throughout. This place is finding its decline in extensive commercialization from what it used to be-a cosy bucolic inn in Pluckemin which offered tasty food. Will not go there again until they change their business model.

Food was up to the Plucky's usual high standards. Availability of small plates a real plus. Server was a little hard to understand and table bussing was a bit intrusive. One of our wine glasses was removed before empty. Server at an adjoining table helped fill the gap in service. Overall, still a good experience.

If you are serious about experiencing the best selection of wine available, The Pluckemin Inn's wine list alone is worth the drive. The creative seasonal offerings are the perfect pairing for a memorable dinner. The service staff is attentive and accommodating without being intrusive. This is the perfect spot to celebrate a special occasion or just enjoy a night out with friends.

First time and was disappointed in service. It took over 30 minutes to get our wine and the appetizers arrived before the wine. They seated all the tables right next to each other even though dining room upstairs was empty. I expected more from this experience.

Such a romantic ambiance. We were seated up stairs and the room is soft and candle lit. The bread basket offered is worth talking about... fresh breadsticks as well as sour dough, pecan cranberry and wheat. We shared the risotto and zucchini appetizer. It was split in the kitchen. Both of us chose the swordfish, which was topped with clams, served with smashed potatoes, sautéed endive..and perhaps something else...very tasty. We washed it down with a white burgundy...excellent choice.

The staff was extremely very unwelcoming. We had a business dinner and spent almost $900 for 3 people. We had to order three different bottles of wine because they only had one bottle of each in inventory. We were treated like second-class citizens because we're not regulars. I certainly will not have another business and or any other type of get together at this restaurant.

By normal restaurant standards this was a fine meal, I was hoping for an outstanding experience given the reputation (and price) of the Pluckemin Inn. It was a Thursday night, so perhaps their top talent was mostly given the day off? There was a loud large table of insurance brokers commanding most of the staff's attention. We ordered the Summer tasting menu with wines to celebrate our wedding anniversary.
Fluke tartare amuse was attractively prepared, but fishy, maybe it sat on a prep table too long? It was paired with an outstanding Prosecco (So good I called their Plucky Wine shop the next day and purchased a case!).
The First course of foie gras was perhaps the highlight of the meal, unctuous and creamy paired classically with a 2012 Sauternes (You can tell that there is really someone who knows wines working here).
We had to ask for an extra piece of bread none was offered.(The breads were as good as bread gets, crusty , rustic loaves. Suggest you not cut so much ahead and place in baskets though. some was getting stale by the time it reached us, a shame!)
Salmon "confit" second course was just average, though the tiny chicken "oysters" served with it were amazingly tasty. Next time a whole small plate of those, leave off the fish, thank you. The Oregon Pinot Noir it was paired with was also nothing to get excited about.
My veal chop main course was good though my wife's was very fatty. It was interesting veal, almost beefy. The tomato confit provided an nice salty/acidic contrast to the fatty veal. I simply did not like the Nebbiolo d'Alba wine paired with this dish. It was thin and fruitless.
Dessert of ganache and a nice cherry sorbet was fine, paired with an insipid sweetish wine from the south of France. They did bring us a nice plate of home made cookies for our anniversary (see pic) which were outstanding.
Overall an ok experience, but not one we will rush to tell all our friends about. Clearly this restaurant is capable of much more.
