Went for vegan restaurant week and the the main entrees weren’t that good.
Went for Philly Vegan Restaurant Week. Everything on the pre fix menu was delicious. Great service at the table and the bar before eating. Thanks!
I had high expectations for this place judging by the reviews, but this completely missed the mark.
1. Food was terrible. Bread tasted stale. I love soda bread and brown bread and these tasted nothing like it. I got the ny strip which may actually be the worst steak I’ve ever had. It was unbelievably chewy and difficult to eat. Multiple people in our party got steaks and they were all this bad.
2. I purchased an alcoholic beverage and the server, while clearing plates (and I was in the bathroom) took my half full beverage and threw it out. He didn’t notice when he picked it up??
3. Very loud. Not authentic: music, ambiance, decor, nothing.
4. A member of our party asked if there were different side options included with his meal. He gave him options then later we saw that he charged extra without mentioning it.
I guess if you’re usually used to a bunch of drunk patrons you stop caring about the food and actual service?
Even though it was crazy loud downstairs (to be expected on a Saturday night), our dinner upstairs was great. Our server was THE best. She was so attentive & friendly. Also, when my son’s salad came out incorrectly, other staff members jumped in and switched it. There was no...”let me get your server”. They just jumped in to help. Our food was excellent. Thank you for a great dinner.
We went during Restuarant week. Food was outstanding. Our server was great. We had 645 reservations and the music was really loud.
Great food, great service and they validate parking? Does it get any better? Yes it does! Cocktails and brew selections are amazing. Can’t say enough good things.
Took advantage of Restaurant Week. Most places that participate limit you to 2 or 3 choices on the restaurant menu for each course The Plough and the Star has 6 choices for both the first and second courses and dessert each person received a sampler dish.
It was a fun place and the food was delicious.
Service and food superb
My boyfriend and I came in for restaurant week -- We were so impressed! The food was fantastic, drinks were reasonably priced, and the service was outstanding. Our waitress was always checking in with a friendly smile and warm personality. Made for a wonderful night all together. Would definitely recommend and we look forward to coming in again soon!
Great selection of Whiskey and Bourbon. Had the lamb was great, my wife had the filet medallions she was also extremely impressed.
Considering we were sitting near a group of excited Eagles fans watching the first game of the season, they were cheering loudly, however, our group had no problem conversing with each other because our table was situated in a nice, acoustic-friendly corner. We had a great time!
Great place for a bite to eat. Highly recommend the cheese plate. It is a fantastic selection of meat and cheeses. Very nice job!!
The Plough & the Stars offers a superb menu where each dish is better than the last. This coupled with attentive and friendly service ensures a great meal with each visit. They also had excellent entertainment at the venue which added to the experience. 5/5 will go back.
We have been there several times it's always a good basic comfort Irish food venue. There was evidently a bachelor party going on last night which made conversation difficult otherwise it's very good
Excellent all around!! Great food. Great service. Traditional music and overall atmosphere were top notch. We will return many times. ☘️
Was in town to meet up with friends. Loved the live music!
Great place with great food. The quail and duck fricassee was awesome!
Great food, and often run into friends there - what more is there?
Authentic Irish food and lovely service.
Great brunch, no one left unsatisfied!
The food was fresh and flavorful. The decor was a combination of old world with touches of contemporary. It being a bar made the music and crowd noise a bit loud when trying to dine.
Enjoyed an after wedding brunch with close friends. This restaurant was a short walk from the Kimpton Hotel in historic area. The food was great! Fresh Irish breads, classic brunch offerings and the server couldn’t have been nicer. Ill definitely return again.
Great feiendly service... Food was delicious.
Great place to visit our son and my husband got to have an Irish meal for Father's Day.
Great food and excellent service. Next time I'm in Philly I wiil be back.
My friend’s bday!
Everything went well. My drink was served in a chipped glass but my husband went to the bar (server was not around) and they made me another quickly. Nice place with moderate prices and food is good.
My absolute favorite spot in Old City. The food is on point, the service is lovely (special shout out to Sara!), and I’ve been lucky enough to pop in during love music and special events. The beer selection could be better, but that is truly my only critique. Great place!
Great Irish atmosphere, food is great and the service was great as well.
Food was hit or miss, service was not good. Waitress kept walking by and ignoring us when we tried getting her attention, she kept forgetting our packaged leftovers, was slow, beer was warm. When I went to the bathroom the waitstaff could be heard from outside gossiping about each other ( I get it but dont let customers hear that junk), I could go on but bottom line up front, why waste my time?...much better places especially in philly to spend my time, money and ESPECIALLY Mother's day. Overall, not impressed and would not reccomend.
Shane was attentive and energetic! Food was perfect for all who wanted different things. Will come back again!
Sat outside for lunch, great service from Jen. Food was good. Chairs are comfortable and well made, easy to sit in for a long lunch break.
Great soda bread. The food is solid. There’s something for everyone. Nice vibe and comfortable neighborhood place.
Great setting with awesome food and service! Our dinner event was with colleagues from out of town who were very pleased with the experience!
Great menu selections and excellent preparation of salmon with crabmeat and pork tenderloin. Service was efficient and professional. Prices are at a price point that makes me want to return.
Thank you for a pleasant evening!
The food was acceptable, but nothing special. We were most disturbed by the poor service. Seemed like our server couldn't be bothered to do his job. Since the food was just OK, we may not return because of our waiter. Unbelievably forgetful and didn't seem to want to even take our order.
We had a great experience on St. Patrick's Day! Our waitress, Sarah, was EXCELLENT! The service, drinks, food and music were fantastic. This was a very busy day and the Plough and there staff did a wonderful job.
