The Plough and the Stars
We have installed the most sophisticated beer system in the US, imported directly from Ireland and installed by Guinness technicians. Each pint of the 12 beers on tap is perfect.
The atmosphere created by the simple, yet powerful decor and fills a visitor to the Plough & the Stars, with an overwhelming feeling of awe and inspiration. The stage is set for an enjoyable and memorable dining experience.
Weekend nights turn the Plough into one of Old City's favorite bar scenes!
I highly enjoyed my experience here. No complaints at all.
Love the Irish music on Sundays! Just like being in an Irish pub!
Another great meal! Ate pear salad topped with salmon. Hubby had salmon platter. Friends went for burger and steak frites. We enjoyed a very pleasant meal after matinee movie. Service was great!
Amazing atmosphere and food. Food was phenomenal. The wings are delicious. Came here to celebrate a friend's birthday, and we're definitely going back!
We decided to try this restaurant during restaurant week and we will definitely be back again. The service is great and the food was out of this world. The food is Irish French as best I can describe it and is fresh and very tasty.
Went for Center City Restaurant Week. The menu was exciting, and everything was delicious. You should try both of the breads they offer, one of which is sweet and the other is savory. The rest of what I got was on the special menu, but it was all delicious and overall it was an incredible experience. I would definitely recommend it, and would like to go back myself.
We visited during Restaurant Week and were pleased with the whole experience. Will definitely go again. The food, service and atmosphere were all outstanding.
Food was great but service was slow to begin with and waitstaff appeared super tired and not on top of things - had to ask repeatedly for drinks.... but it got better as time went on.
My boyfriend and I went to Plough for restaurant week and had a great time. We had three courses: an app, main course and dessert sampler. I had a great soup to start, but the the coating on the salmon was overly salty to the point that I couldn’t eat it. Once I peeled the coating off though, the salmon was perfectly cooked which was great! The dessert sampler had a great chocolate dessert and a fabulous miniature cream brûlée with baileys in it. The best part though for sure was our sweet as pie waitress. She was one of three waitresses in our area, serving us and a 75 person party!! She kept apologizing for delays, etc. but we didn’t feel anything was delayed and saw how much she was doing alone so GIRL you did great and we appreciated your constant positivity. Thanks Plough, we’ll be back!!
Service was extremely slow and our server was in lala land. Clearing some plates randomly and not clearing others..left to get us something and didn’t come back fir 15 minutes. Meal was barely warm and we couldn’t wait to get our of there. Waited forever for the check too. Have been here in the past and enjoyed it but will never go back unless it is just for drinks
Staff was very friendly and attentive. Food tasted excellent, but was lacking something (hard to identify what), and drinks were just okay.
I was so very happy to discover this restaurant. Was there with 3 others during Restaurant Week. We all totally enjoyed our meals which were very large. Since it was Restaurant Week, we expected brief menus. They were not & had to have something for every taste. Our waitress, Felicia, was the absolute best!!! she should be highly recommended to her employer!!
This restaurant was a pleasant surprise. We visited on one of our "restaurant week tour" dates and were blown away. Our server was amazing, the drinks were great and so was the food. I am on a keto diet and there were plenty of options to accommodate me. I was however tempted by the bread that came with the mussels. Great experience and will definitely return.
Awesome!!! Have the chicken curry!
Great brunch spot before visiting the Arden Theatre. Took our family of five and everyone’s meals were great and the drinks were delicious. Short walk from the theatre.
Good food and drink in this authentic little Irish Pub .
Went on New Year's Eve. Food was great and priced reasonably for New Year's Eve. The hostess and wait staff were superb!!! My group was of the older generation and when we asked the hostess if the DJ could play some Irish music plus some oldies, she went right over and asked him and he played all our requests!!!! Will definitely go back there when we visit Philly again.
We were visiting the Philadelphia area, and had a lovely meal. The soda bread was outstanding. The staff was very welcoming to all of us, including my youngest son. They were also very accommodating of special meal requests. The holiday decorations were very festive. We would definitely recommend this restaurant.
This is my first time dining out for Christmas Day dinner. We’ve been to Plough before and it’s a favorite. Christmas Day food, ambience, and service was terrific! We made a great choice.
It was great we do an annual Christmas Eve dinner and we pick somewhere different every year. We loved it
The food was fantastic and the holiday decorations really got me in the holiday spirit. It was my first time there but I'll definitely be back.
A great place ! Dined with family while in Philadelphia. The downstairs Pub/Sports bar/Afterwork hang-out; the upstairs is balcony of tables with an overlook and another bar. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. Would highly recommend this place as much more than an Irish bar and much better food than associates with traditional Irish fare. Very good value and excellent food.
Great food, great service, great music! Traveled from NY so we could celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary here and we were not disappointed!
Great food and atmosphere. Everyone on staff from the hostess to waitress to bartender and bouncer were friendly, helpful and accommodating.
I think my companion enjoyed his meal--after, that is--he was served the wrong entrée and had to wait for the right one. Mine (fish & chips) was all but inedible. The fish was wildly overcooked and the batter was too heavy. The fries were unforgivably limp and mushy, and I had to ask for the tartar sauce that should have come with the meal. Only my small green salad escapes criticism (greens very fresh, vinaigrette very tasty). My Martini was so-so.
Went for brunch in a group of 5. Service was great, food was excellent. Great selection of food
Food, service, value were all great.
We enjoyed fish and chips, chicken cheese steak and Guinness Casserole. Everything was great!
Delicious traditional Irish brunch! Great options and choices for both food and drinks! I had the French Toast with pears and Irish bacon! There was an soccer game and it added to the ambiance. I would recommended this restaurant! The wait staff were very pleasant and accommodating.
The Plough and Stars was great for brunch! Not crowded, attentive service, and yummy cocktails and food. We all ordered breakfast items and everyone raved about their meal. I had the Plough Omelet and it was delicious. Prices were reasonable and we will definitely go back.
Out of town family very happy with food, beer and proximity to historic site.
Great food and service. A little noisy, but that’s typical for a bar.
Philadelphia institution with a warm Irish welcome. Good for all occasions.
Such a nice Irish restaurant! Service was great and food was to die for. Our waitress was so sweet and got the band to play happy birthday for my mother which made the night!! Will be returning for more good times.
They gave our table to someone else within 10 minutes after we arrived at 9:00am. They set us up a table in the back of the room by the kitchen. None of our group (7) people will ever go there again. Bad customer service. I made our reservation 1 week before the date. Would never recommend this place to anyone ever! Very disappointing since we were celebrating 2 birthdays! I guess it's all about money & who u know at that place.
50rh college reunion
All good except WAY too loud Sat. evening. We love music, but it was set uncomfortably loud for us older folks. Would avoid which is sad because service and food were very good.
Chose to have lunch here after walking around Old City and visiting the historic sites. Love the atmosphere here and the food and drink were excellent. Quick service, too.
We have been here many times and always had a good experience. Food is always very very good. However, noise level was off the charts. There was music and the bar patrons were very boisterous. The six of us could hardly hear each other. i could yell only to the person next to me and the person across from me. The waitress had to come to each of us individually to hear us.
