As always the head waiter was most polite and customer service oriented, our table was ready and we had added an extra to make it for 4 instead of 3. He was so accommodating. You can actually carry on a conversation, the noise level is perfect.
Waitress was inattentive even when the restaurant was relatively slow and food was just average.
Worse service ever. First, I made a reservation and said we needed a table to accommodate the wheelchair. They didn’t see that or didn’t pay attention, so we waited 10 minutes while they figured out how to do that (take a chair from a table is probably easiest). We were seated 25 minutes ago (yes, I’m writing this in real time).
Ok, so we are seated and order our drinks. It took 25 minutes for me to get my drink, it’s 45 minutes after we ordered, and they only have 4 items on the menu because it’s a “theater” menu.....4 items and we’ve been waiting about 45 minutes for our food.
The waitress is ok, not warm and fuzzy. Would’ve like to have someone acknowledge that we are waiting so long. What I was told “the kitchen is backed up and they’ll get your order when it comes up”.
Do not come here before a show at The Ohio Theater. Find another restaurant!
This restaurant was and continues to be poorly managed.
Hopefully we get our food soon.
We visited on Valentine’s evening. And while I would have completely understood a less than stellar experience due to the holiday...this certainly wasn’t the reason. The restaurant was, at most, half full. The pleasant server who engaged us twice was nice, the problem was the fact that she WASN’T our server. Our sever was inattentive, barely helpful and quite slow. On this night they had a limited menu (4 choices of entrees) and the food came out slowly and Cold. We advised our waitress and she said “Awww” but didn’t ask to warm it.
The restaurant is clean and the view is great but if either in a hurry or searching for a good meal and service, this is not the place.
We went on Valentine's Day and had reservations, we were seated pretty quickly. I wanted to swap out potatoes for veggies but was told they were too busy to accommodate substitutions. There were several open tables and they really weren't that busy so I was a little disappointed. The salads were very large and my Beet salad was very good. We both got the surf and turf, which was a filet with some sort of grape sauce and shrimp. The sauce on the steak was overpoweringly sweet, admittedly i'm not much of a sweets person, so my bad. My boyfriend agreed it was way too sweet. The steak was prepared perfect at medium rare. The shrimp were very salty. The au gratin potatoes had blue cheese in them and were very good. All in all it was an OK experience but they seemed stressed out about it being Valentine's Day and as I said it really wasn't all that busy. Our reservations were at 7pm. I do love the view from the dining room. I would eat here again, but not my first choice with all of the great restaurants downtown.
Our reservation for 4 ppl was at 5:30. We chose the plaza due to being right next door to the Ohio Theater where we had tickets for the 7:30 show of Shen Yun and figured it was the most convenient place to eat beforehand. We were seated right away as they were not very busy but it took a while just to get water and way too long for our server to come to our table, at this time we ordered our drinks and appetizers and asked how long the time frame was in food. She assured us that it would be quick as soon as she put the order in. She couldn't have been more wrong. After 30-40 min we had to ask for bread and our dinner order was finally taken. We were also told that there were no more copper "cups" for the Moscow miles due to them being so busy the night before(which was a Tues) and all the "cups" were upstairs so the bartender just used a water glass. Not sure why the dishes wouldn't have been done by whatever. At 6:40 I got up from the table to locate our server to find out how much longer it was going to be. She was just walking over with our salads and we told her we had a show to be at by 7:30 and were getting nervous about not making it in time. We told her to cancel the appetizers and she served us our salads and went to ask the chef about our dinners. She said they were just now stuffing the squash so 8 min it will be ready and it is now 6:42. At 6:50 we did receive our dinners. Our server said she was sorry but the apology did not seem genuine. 2 steaks were more lukewarm-cold than hot. We had to eat fast and the food was good but not great. Wont choose this place again
We have some dietary restrictions in our group, so we looked at the menu options ahead of time and found meals that would work for everyone. When we arrived, we found out that they only had the "Theatre Menu". That is four choices of entree only. While I understand the need to do that so that the speed of the kitchen is good enough to get everyone to the show on time, there was no mention of such a menu when making the reservation. So, that means Tuesday through Sunday when there is a show, you can't get any other options than the four items they choose and limited appetizers. They also were not able to adapt even the side dishes.
I do need to comment that the waiter was able to get them to make a variation on the main chicken dish, so my wife had something she could eat. For me, I just had a small salad, since nothing else of the four options would work for me.
Setting expectations are important. If there is going to be such a limited menu, it is important for this to be known. Even if it is a comment somewhere that "On evenings with a Broadway Series show, please expect a limited menu" or something like that. When trying to plan for various dietary restrictions, we would have known that evening would not have been a good idea to eat there.
The service this time was horrible. I had reservations before a Broadway show. The valet wouldn’t let us park our car there. We had to find parking elsewhere. We still had an hour and a half before the show. We ordered fairly simple entrees and had to wait over an hour for our food. They didn’t charge us. But we had to eat in less than ten minutes so we didn’t get to enjoy our food.
Their menu choices are limited too. I will think twice before I go to the Sheraton again.
The service has never been stellar but this was totally unacceptable.
It has the potential to be really nice. Chicken avocado sandwich was really bland. Salad was nothing special. Philly steak egg rolls were dry and too hot (temperature) to eat for a few minutes. Service was good, waitress made sure we could get to theater on time.
The greatest steak we ever had an the cheese potatoes were to die for, wanted to go back for the same meal right after we got out the show two hours later, definitely a meal that stays with u.
The menu and service have improved of late, but there is substantial room for improvement. My flank steak was appealing in principle, but poor in execution having been dried out by being reheated too many times. Similarly, good restaurants never offer patrons beer without providing it with a glass. Glasses must be scarce at the Sheraton.
We had a reservation and just prior to arriving with my daughters and granddaughters a large group entered the bar. As our table was right next to the bar the maitre d apologized for the commotion and asked if we minded if he found us another, more quiet place to dine. We really appreciated that.
Everyone was friendly and we enjoyed our dinner.
I understand this is a new menu. I and daughter ordered flank steak, fingerling potatoes etc. both of thought the steak was delicious. However neither of liked the tomato salsa spread in top. it detracted from the steak. Maybe put it on the side. We also got the Moscow Mule—perfection!
Grandson ordered the Apple gallette (?) with ice cream—delicious.
We sat at table 14 and Jen was our server. She was attentive and brought sweet potato fries for grandson ( reg French were brought out initially). For most of our meal she was handling all of the tables—and did an excellent job! Yay for Jen
Free valet parking was definitely a bonus!
We have eaten at Pkaza many times, but it had been several years bc if past mediocre food. I understand there is a new chef and we wish him well. We will definitely return with new chef and menu
Jean and Frank Forsythe
The waitstaff was very accommodating. There were children in our group... they made pancakes for dinner for one of the grandchildren. The dinner before the show was a great experience for the granddaughters.
We went on theater night and made reservations. We were seated on time no issues. Waitress was very rushed and only came by to get order and give check. Never received bread. People sitting next to us never got their food and they were there before us. Obviously theater nights are busy and should be expected.
We were at the restaurant for almost an hour and we still hadn't gotten the bread that we were promised when we sat down or our drinks. They only had one waitress waiting on everyone in the restaurant. She was very polite and did as good as she could with what the restaurant was making her deal with. Then our food took almost another hour to come out. Once we got it, it was very good, but the wait for everything was frustrating and every table in the restaurant was feeling the same way. The staff that was there were great, but they definitely need to hire more people or have more people working on busy nights.
We had theater menu. Priced very well. Steaks tender and well cooked. Beet salad was poorly described. It was more like spinach salad with very few actual beets. Our waitress was awesome but she was serving too many tables. Worked very hard. Breakfast buffet was a 4/5 star experience. Very good buffet. Service was a 5. Santana made an enjoyable experience
We were disappointed that they did not provide the “Theater Menu” their web site stated they did.
We were forced to order off their standard menu that did not offer the items we when they there for in the first place..
The waiter (Shawn according to the receipt) was terrible. We ordered a bottle of sparkling wine. Was taking forever. Eventually, he dropped it on the table and walked off. We looked at it and the bottle was already opened and partly empty. Ended up going to the host and a service manager came over. She agreed it was wrong and got us a new bottle. Also got flutes, as the first waiter dropped off red wine glasses. When I mentioned to the first waiter what he did, his response was simply “sorry, I’m busy.” Overall it was a poor dining experience.
Very attentive staff
Quiet relaxing meal
Admittedly, if we’d had know this was a Hotel restaurant at the time of reserving we wouldn’t have made them, but since we were on our way there before we figured that out, we decided to go anyway. Open Table reservation didn’t get received by the restaurant, despite receiving a confirmation, it didn’t matter however because they were empty and had plenty of room for our group, but it does concern me about other reservations in the future. Food was fair, some good some not, some orders sent back, ambiance was desolate, but it made for a good time with our group, no competing noises, making conversation easy, no need to yell or repeat ourselves. Far more expensive that it was worth.
We had tickets to a 7:30 show and thought that a 6:15 reservation would let us have time to grab dinner and drinks. We did get dinner and drinks but barely had time to finish since it took well over 30 minutes from ordering to receive the entrees. Both sandwiches were tasty but the bottom bun on the chicken was soaked and we had to flip the sandwich upside down to eat. The side Caesar salad had a very generous portion size but they were lacking any crunch (no croutons or crostini). We had to request the check and ended up having to pay in cash so that we could literally run to our show.
We dine at The Plaza often and always have a great experience. On this occasion, the food itself was delicious, but the service was so poor and inefficient that it ruined the dinner for us and, apparently, for several others who were seated in our area. There seemed to be no manager checking on the servers or the patrons, or at least not in our area, and our server was poorly trained, uninformed and not on the ball whatsoever. I won't go into details here, but suffice it to say, we will return but make sure that we don't want to have that server again. This experience was way too stressful, especially because we and most of the other diners were heading to a concert at the theater next door and needed to leave to get there before curtain.
Perfect ambience to gather with friends and have conversation.
The menu didn't offer a wide variety but the food was good. The servers were nice but we had to ask for to go boxes and a dessert menu twice and it didn't seem too busy.
While the food is delicious, do not book this restaurant if you have time constraints or are headed to a show. They do not have the kitchen capacity to handle a large number of diners between 6 pom and 8 pm. If this had been a one-off, I wouldn't be so negative, but it has now happened to our son twice in a row. We arrived at 6 pm (8 pm show). We ordered two simply Caesar salads with chicken, and a salmon filet. (There were 3 of us). Most people who arrived after us were served before us even though we ordered long before them. One table next to us finished their entire meal before we were served, even though we ordered before them. Our meal arrived at 7:30. To management's credit, they comped our meals and drinks. But I would not go there again on a theater night unless I went at 4 pm. But the food, when it came, was outstanding. Too bad my wife did not have time to finish hers.
Good food, good service. Friendly staff.
Valet parking is a plus.
The Plaza Restaurant is exceptionally convenient for events at the Ohio Theater. But it is badly in need of better management. Food that is supposed to be served hot comes out of the kitchen barely above room temperature. While the wait staff is unfailingly polite, it is sadly lacking in basic training. Once ordered, it takes forever for drinks to arrive, and often they are presented at widely different times for those at the table. Wine is presented in a short glass, not a wine glass. Beer is presented without a glass.
No one seems to care about providing a check, even long after diners have finished their meals.
The Plaza has suffered in quality over the past few years. However, the food is good as was the service. The plus that keeps us coming back is that valet parking is included. That's a terrific value if one is attending an event later that evening at the Ohio Theatre.
Much better than when I was there February 19. Could be attributed to the fact it was not busy.
Their burgers were cooked wonderful (typically we have trouble getting one that is "well done" correctly ( theirs was superb) and their sweet potato fries are so yummy ! We were dining prior to a theater event, luckily were there well in advance of the play start time as it was the slowest service I have ever had, perhaps due to a private event in the main restaurant - it took awhile to order and then 45 minutes to get our food ! Therefore we passed up on having dessert and I so wanted to try their bread pudding as it is a favorite of mine and hard to find. Also due to the private event we had to sit in the bar area which is more noisy and doesn't have the ambiance of the restaurant. Being in the bar area may also be why they seemed to not have any idea that we had a reservation - luckily there were a few tables available.
It seems that recently the service and slowness from the kitchen after ordering and when food is served has deteriorated. Haven't seen the Maitre de', Jerry, lately, he was always a special addition to the service team and structure. I hope the change is only a temporary glitch as the Plaza Restaurant at the Sheraton has always been a great place to lunch, the ambiance is such that you can actually carry on a conversation without shouting to be heard! And they have great gluten-free options.
The food was not as warm as usual. It was a busy night, but it was still not warm eniugh
They need to fix the kitchen. Worst dining experience and I seriously had high hopes. I have been here prior but they knew I was industry when dining before with hospitality colleagues. This time made a reservation for my husband and I before seeing a show at Ohio Theatre. Molly their "manager" sat us and it took about 15 minutes before our server greeted us. We then find out that they are serving a limited menu because of the show. Well we now know why - their kitchen can't handle seven tables at once. I was so disappointed because their limited menu barely has anything good on it. I asked for a glass of Cabernet and the server brings me white wine. We decided to order salads and appetizers - we asked for it all to come at once and she brings me my Caesar salad first. My salad was plain lettuce with dressing on the side. Had to get up the flag down my server to let her know I was missing half of my salad. She brings "Molly the manager" over who sad the kitchen is just forgetting things. Seriously that's how you handle this? Was so disappointed and finally the rest of our food came out and it was just blah. They didn't seem to care and blamed a lot on the kitchen. I heard the table next to us complaining as well. I had to get up to get our check - so we could make the show in time. We had been there almost two hours and just had salads and tater tots. Will never go back & will also never refer my clients here. They can't even blame it on an event going on in their ballroom. Because I saw it was some dance event that ordered in dominos pizzas. So they weren't backing up the kitchen...disappointing. Won't return ever again!
Red Dress Gala
We had reservations but the restaurant gave our table away and therefore we had to sit in a separate room. The room was not prepared for customers. The tables were not set or clean. Our waitress did the best she could but it was obvious the restaurant was not prepared for the event at the Ohio Threater that would draw a large crowd.
I thought food was fair, nothing special. My dish wasn’t quite as described (component was missing). Service was slow. Fortunately we had plenty of time
We ate there before Hamilton. We looked at the menu online before we went but when we showed up they only had a Hamilton themed menu. It was all of the high-priced items on the regular menu and basically no vegetarian options except for salad and pasta (go figure). The waitress was super slow and the food was just okay. I would go back for dessert or drinks, just because of the beautiful view of the Ohio Statehouse and proximity to the Ohio Theater, but other than that, it's not worth the money.
Very much enjoyed the food and the ease of getting to Hamilton. Everything was awesome. The place could use a little upgrade as far as chairs for sitting around in. Old and some were pretty beat up. Food was outstanding. Waitress was fantastic and so was the host.
Valentine’s Day date before Hamilton. Chose Plaza for convenience. Menu design and options were very good but food quality very disappointing- filet of lower grade and over cooked (as was broccolini and risotto). Patrons on bar side seemed satisfied so may be better pub fare option. Almost felt like room service - not bad but not fine dining either. Server did a fine job aside from serving entree a few minutes after serving salad.
