The Plaza Bistro Ratings and Reviews
Excellent as always! I had Osso Bucco, husband had steak, and both were tender, flavorful, and beautifully executed. Started with the delicious beet salad, ended with their perfect creme brûlée and the amazing mascarpone crepes.
Our go-to spot for special occasions did not disappoint!
We've also come here for brunch and lunch and Thanksgiving-- consistently excellent food and service, and you can actually have a conversation.
Booked at the last minute for Christmas dinner with my daughter. Pleasantly surprised the dinner was delicious with everyday menu & prices. I expected the menu prices to be high due to holiday dining but it was not. Extra kudos to Plaza Bistro for being community minded considering we are still recovering from the devastating fires of 10/2017. The atmosphere was pleasing, the waiters very attentive.
Have eaten at the Plaza Bistro a few times. Always good and fresh food. Service is good. Can fit for a dressy night out by sitting in the back formal dining room, or can be more casual with seating outside or in the front room. I always leave happy and never feel I have overpaid.
Plaza Bistro was good, it had the misfortune of being our selection on the hottest day (110 degrees) ever. So eating was not a major endeavor, drinking was. They kept our glasses full and we were able to enjoy a nice evening with our friends.
We will certainly go there again as the food we did order, steaks, risotto and pasta were good just cumbersome.
Had a disappointing meal at Plaza Bistro. Two of us had Pork Scallopini. It was ok. The accompanying spinach was very good. One of us had the New York steak. Again, ok, but not up to the price.
Service, while friendly and attentive, was sketchy; a lack of experience and training was probably the issue.
We've had decent lunches in the past. If we go back, I'll stick to the cheeseburger.
We ended up there early and they were able to seat us as soon as we got there. My friend ordered the gnocchi and I got the pork medallions. The gnocchi was so over cooked it almost melted off the fork. The pork was plain and had grainy mashed potatoes. My friend asked to change her order and got the rigatoni. The waitress was neutral about it but made it happen. The rigatoni came out and it was also so over cooked it fell off the fork. We ended up leaving very unhappy. I was shocked because of the high rating everyone gave it.
We made a reservation and in the comments section indicated we were celebrating a special occassion. This was never acknowledged. Service was very slow and disorganized. 3 different people came to the podium and asked us the same questions about whether we had a reservation and how many in our party before we were seated. We waited for menus, then waited for water, then waited for butter, then waited to order a bottle of wine. Waiter came back and said he would bring us our wine. Why not just bring it? Food was decent but the service was so weak that there really isn't a reason to return. Dinning room is too brightly lit as well. Very disappointing!
We really enjoyed our impromptu dinner at Plaza Bistro. Our meals were served efficiently and presented beautifully. We especially enjoyed the salads . . . wonderful combination of ingredients and tasted like they were fresh out of the garden. We also recommend the pasta dishes!
Our waiter had an attitude right from the get-go. He took at to a large room in the back, which was good because it was quiet, but since there were lots of seats in the front, this made us feel like five older ladies were not good advertising in the front. He told us before we had sat down that it could only be one check. We had not asked anything about this. He didn't listen to us when we ordered. He brought me the wrong coffee drink and one of the plates contained fries instead of salad. Two people ordered the exact same, salmon with salad and one plate was as ordered, the other was with fries. The person graciously kept it, but there was no apology for the error. He made it clear that we were not the customers he was looking for to wait on. It will be a long time before I return to The Plaza Bistro and this was the first time I had eaten there.
The Plaza Bistro is a very cute restaurant in Sonoma. We were a party of 12, our waiter was nice and friendly. We were one of the first party's to arrive but somehow we seemed to be the last to be served. Other large groups arrived, ate and then left in the time that we were there. It took almost 45 mins to get our food after it was ordered. I ordered the eggs benedict. The sauce was delish, however my eggs were practically hard boiled. :( Unfortunately most of the rest of the people in our party had some issue or another with their meals as well. Hard fried eggs when they asked for over easy, over easy eggs when they asked for hard fried, awkwardly large sausage patties when they asked for sausage links, food arriving very cold etc.
I think that this was a cute restaurant, prices were fair and the portions were good. I am not sure if they were overwhelmed or what but unfortunately the dinning experience was not what we had expected. would I eat there again? Possibly, but not with a large group.
Very pleased with service & quality of food. We were a family & friends get-together. Everyone liked the food & ambiance. I found the restaurant online & guessed right!!! Prices were reasonable & portion sizes were perfect. Guests were from east coast & we are from SF. I've already told my friends about this place.
This was my first time to Plaza Bistro and I invited 5 of my co-workers for lunch to start off Restaurant Week and was very disappointed to discover that the menu that was on the website was not what was presented to us. Two of my co-workers are vegetarian and there was not an option provided for them. There was one on the website but not in house. We had to leave and go to a different place to provide them with a vegetarian option. Apparently the menu on website was the one from last year. I would hope for future they make sure to update the website because this was a huge disappointment.
When I called to see if they had a certain dish on the menu whoever answered the phone seemed alittle rude. Maybe she was in a hurry? The restaurant is not bad, the service was fair. The food was made well and tasted good. The only downside were the prices they were charging, but it was downtown Sonoma so I guess I will have to deal with it. Not bad but probably will not return as nothing stuck out to me as have to have again.
We enjoyed a great dinner with friends. I had the duck confit, which was delicious, and the fresh greens and potatoes went perfectly. Their house Moscow mule with an herbal liquor was outstanding, as well. And the topper was superior service-the staff are amazing! One guest was delayed, and we had to wait, but the waiter brought bread and dipping oil, refilled water, and was patient and service oriented continually. A great leader cal dinner!
Four of us dined here, all for the first time.
Service was good. Prices are reasonable.
Food arrived in a timely manner.
Three of us enjoyed our meals very much. The fourth not so much.
We had three Cesar salads, which were very good. And one avocado brussels sprout salad with roasted pumpkin seeds, which was also good.
Sea bass wrapped in potato over julienned veggies was good. Rigatoni was good. Gnocchi was outstanding. The "miss" of the evening was a T-bone steak. Not very good was the pronouncement.
Shared a delicious if somewhat watery creme brulee and a very good peach sorbet, though it was more like a granita.
Three of us would go back. The fourth said he wouldn't.
Sorry to report a bad experience at a local restaurant, but we had a bad experience. Amateurish service, undercooked food, long wait time--just nothing good to report. We had eaten here a long time ago and thought we would give it a second chance, but regret it. Had to send our food back to the kitchen and it returned, much later, over cooked. Appetizers and salads were just ordinary. Waiter didn't know the menu, had to"go check". Reasonable wine list, however. The price/value relationship here is lacking. The bad food and service took the glow off what should have been a fun evening. As host, I was embarrassed.
There are many good restaurants in Sonoma. This is not one of them.
Maybe we were there a little off season but they were quite empty and so the back room felt cold and dead. They made us wait 15 minutes and then took us to an empty room full of open tables, which was strange. The waiter was very nice but there was no sommelier so we relied on the waiter telling us what was most popular. This seemed like an oversight after a day of wine tasting. The steaks were good and the risotto starter was also noteworthy, but there was only one vegetarian entree and it was very creamy and heavy. So a vegan or health conscious vegetarian would have been out of luck.
