Great food, did a good job with covid and outside dining
Outside dining-covid Safe- Attentive Staff and delicious breakfast!
Delicious food, excellent service and outside dining - what more could you want! The crab cake, pasta, and mussels were perfectly prepared. Service was impeccable!
Great restaurant. E we had carpaccio & crab cake as starter. Dinner was lamb lollipops & pork piccata. Courses were 5 star, Service THE BEST!
This was an amazing place. The food was hands down spectacular. I had the Pork Picatta and it was soooo good. I wish I could go there weekly to get my new favorite dish! You must visit!!
A wonderful place to have a wonderful dinner. Food is always great and so is the service.
Martin, Daniel, and the entire staff, do everything possible to create a warm, receptive environment through friendly service. They are always there when needed, and give you space to enjoy your evening. The food is excellent, and the presentation perfect. A top performer on the Sonoma Plaza.
Server was very pleasant
Great outside dining, quiet, good food, especially the lamb lollipop. That was the best treat for my husband. Just one wasn't enough but he held back.
Lamb lollipops were very good. Pasta with seafood
tasted odd and more like Indian food than Italian.
Halibut was ok. Service wasn’t great but it’s hard to complain bc these are tough times for everyone. Overall some dishes are very good and others are not. Worth giving it a try though.
Only place in the Bay Area that carries really good sweetbreads
Really a poor experience. Food was less than mediocre, service was bad, overall very disappointing.
We love the Plaza Bistro. Good food. Great value. Who could ask for anything more?
Wonderful food and fantastic service!
This was a pleasant experience in spite of the COVID-19 limitations. Nice outdoor space and felt very safe.
Food was good.
Our one recommendation would be to offer better bread. It was dry and uninteresting which is odd since good bread is everywhere in Sonoma county.
Excellent service. They made my son something that wasn't on the menu and he loved it. Grateful for the extra touch.
Nice to sit outside and dine. Noisy from the street as to be expected.
We had a nice, leisurely birthday dinner. We even got a birthday dessert. Enjoyable evening.
Plaza Bistro has done a superb job, with outdoor seating, waiters wearing masks, and as usual, great food and service.
Went for brunch on a drizzly Saturday morning. Had a lovely window seat overlooking the square. The Bistro omelette was delicious!
Best experience in
Sonoma square !
We were looking for a quiet place to have lunch on the Plaza in Sonoma, and were delighted that we had picked The Plaza Bistro. The lunch menu offered a nice variety; service was excellent; and we loved sitting in the window and watching folks on the plaza.
Service was a little slow, but we figured it was because we were in the back dining area rather than the front. Food was delicious!!
Great location, wonderful service, good food.
It was a very busy Valentine's celebration. Our waiter, Fernando (if I remember his name correctly) was a gem. it was our first time at Plaza Bistro, but not at all our last!
We had reserved seats. "We are 30 minutes behind" announced the greeter/seater.
We were ok with a small bar table as we were to go to a concert after.
The first time my husband got the wrong food, we thought "oh, well that can happen!
The second time the dried spaghetti ware barely cooked and my husband sent it back.
The third time it was again the wrong item with the spaghetti barely cooked.
The owner exasperated - not sure whether about the chef that night or because
he thought my husband was a difficult customer.
He said " it's on the house " took my husband's plate and that was it.
I had finished my salad which was good. My hungry
husband and I left. Our worst restaurant experience ever.
In generell the portions are small for the price. And again
for that price one should be able to receive fresh pasta, which would have been
cooked within 3 minutes versus dry pasta.
Had reservations for 6:15pm on a Saturday night. Upon entry there is a bar with some high top tables on the left and regular seating on the right. We were placed near a group (6-8) of very loud adults and so we asked to move to other side of restaurant. Our same waiter met us at the second table and proceeded to tell us how stressed he was working 10 tables all by himself- even though there were other staff present and bringing items to tables? We got our appetizer and salad at same time -not terrible but just bad pacing. And then we waited. And waited for our entree. Only after 30 minutes when we saw that a couple they had come after us got their entire meal did we ask for our waiter. Turns out he left or quit or whatever -he was gone! That’s a first! They finally delivered our meal and it was good but -maybe they aren’t equipped to handle the customer service aspect all that well if they aren’t properly staffed. Not sure I’ll be back- maybe try Sunday instead if I do.
I love the ambiance and the friendliness of the staff. The caesar salad wasn't quite a caesar; just a green salad. I had the spaetzl with cheese - should have stuck with the mussels I've had many times before, which are good. The spaetzl was too buttery and too cheesy. Seems if you're going to do butter, it would be better to have browned butter, which would give it more character.
Special — wild halibut on vegetable ragout — beyond great. Cheese plate appetizer with duck sausage also very good. Excellent attention from mature d’.
This is a cozy bistro owned by an Italian transplant who was lovely and welcoming. Food was flavorful; good wine list; all well priced, especially for the Sonoma plaza. It was perfect for our date night.
We reserved seats for three for New Year's Eve. We had never been there before but relied on Yelp reviews. When we got there we were seated in a small room to the right side of the entrance after we were offered a seat right at the entrance that seemed too close to the door. The room was not very attractive. The brick wall on one side was warm and cozy, but the other side was old yellow wallpaper, marked up, plain. We sat for awhile and finally I asked a waiter if she was our server. She said "uhh, yes, I guess so." The service was terrible. We ordered two glasses of wine. The first glass came in five minutes, the second glass came 10 minutes later. Why? (Both wines were delicious.) Then we waited for the food. The first two dishes came; one was not what we ordered. (During the selection process, we discussed two options and I selected one but what she brought was neither one.) She took back the wrong one and brought the right one immediately; I thought she had just mixed up the table, but when I got the check it was she who had messed up the order--the price was about the same so I let it go. But still she had brought only two dishes. We waited fully ten more minutes for the third order to arrive, and it was not a dish that needed more time to prepare than the others. It turned out this was her third day on the job. I know waitstaffing is a tough job. She apologized and I could tell she was sincere. I did not stiff her on the tip, gave a normal (17%) amount for. But this was not all her fault. I blame management much more for not training well. The food was delicious, once we had it. But the kicker was, there is a large room beyond the bar, really warm and inviting, about half full, where we could have sat and not been subject to a cold draft every time the door opened. Why didn't they seat us back there in the first place? When I discovered it, I mentioned it to the greeter. She said "Well, you can sit there the next time." I don't think we'll be going back soon!
Cozy bistro on Sonoma Plaza. We sat at one of the 2 indoor window tables in the dining room and watched everyone walking by. The bar tables looked nice, too. Wine selection was good, full bar. I hadd the coq au vin which was perfect on a cold winter evening. Wait staff was pleasant and attentive.
For our Christmas Eve dinner with mom we had lots of good dinner choices, service in a nice ambience.
Service slow, had a reservation & table next to order window. Food good but very little meat on our Iosco biscottis. Waited for too long to get our bill. Will not be back
Family celebration of Christmas season. Wonderful service and meal!
We always love our visits to Plaza Bistro! Excellent service, excellent food.
Nice place right on the square. It was a Sunday night so the restaurant was not packed. Hector, our waiter, was attentive and helpful. There were three of us and all of us liked our dinners. Enjoyed the atmosphere and ambiance for a conversation filled evening with family.
We were visiting the wine country and chose this restaurant based on the recommendation of one of our servers at Kunde Winery. She was right ... it was excellent!! The service was fantastic all night long. The food was incredibly delicious and we had a wonderful experience. My caesar salad was delicious and my husband loved his beet salad. The calamari appetizer was the best we have ever eaten and the sauces were fabulous. I had the pork scallopini and it melted in your mouth. The desserts were also out of this world. I highly recommend the crepes which were so delicious. We brought in our own wine and the corkage fee was reasonable. I highly recommend this great restaurant! We will definitely return the next time we are visiting the area.
We’re regulars. Great place
