The Plantation House Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Slightly disappointed in this dining experience. The view is probably one of the best on the island, and we enjoyed every moment of it until the sun set. The menu is creative and the pea soup was exceptional! The hostess, runners, and the rest of the support staff were great...friendly, never had an empty water glass or dirty dish on the table. However, our waitress, as nice as she was, was awful! We sat for at least 10 minutes before she even greeted us (thankfully the hostess came by to let us know we had not been forgotten). I had ordered a pre-dinner cocktail, which I didn't like. It sat there for the entire meal basically untouched. The server never noticed, as she didn't ask if I liked it or offer to take it from the table. I also asked for wine with my meal, which she didn't bring till I was half done. I also asked for coffee with dessert, which again, I didn't get until I was almost done with the dessert, which pretty much defeated the purpose on both accounts. I expected more from the server at this caliper of a restaurant. That being said, I would still suggest others try Plantation House, as I realize dining experience shouldn't be based on just one bad server, and the view alone is worth it.
Went as we saw it was highly recommended. Worst food experience. Ordered lamb chops that was worst than rubber and mahi mahi that was the driest fish preparation!! Looks like they serve cocktails with no alcohol. Go to Mama’s fish house...a bit pricey but the best quality of food we ever experienced.
The view is the best...we went on a Monday so wasn't crowded. Food is good. Not over the top fancy...but the view when the sun is going down was outstanding. Love looking at golf course too. We went early to have a cocktail in the bar. Lots of golfers drinking and watching the football game so became very loud. Very casual. Restaurant is nice, we dressed up but I saw some diners in casual attire. Did see a few babies, but mostly this is a special place to enjoy the evening sunset and have a bottle of champagne.
No mention on the part of staff that it was a birthday celebration, though it was marked on the reservation. Deb the hostess was friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately, we sat for quite a bit waiting to be provided with menus, so that didn't get our dining off to a good start. The rolls were delivered to the table and they were on the hard side and not even warm. The butter however was delicious. The calamari appetizer was served in a reasonable time. The waiter checked to see how they were and we'd only just received them and hadn't had time to taste them. Our Entrees were very good (Fettucine, Chicken). After dinner the waiter offered us coffee and dessert. Coffee arrived promptly in a surprisingly big cup and was finished before our waiter seemed to remember I had ordered dessert. When he finally arrived with dessert, I asked him to take it back as we had already finished our coffees. The restaurant was only about half full so that wouldn't appear to excuse the poor service. The waiter serving the next table was much more attentive to his customers. All in all, good food not so good service. I wouldn't be interested in dining here again.
First time at the restaurant; was there during the Sentry Golf Tournament but after the Sat round had completed so not overflowing with people. Good views of course and ocean in distance but I would recd that you arrive early if you want to see the sunset. Also if you go in the cooler months - as we did in January, be sure to bring a light sweater or jacket as it can be cool with the breezes when the sun goes down. Food was good... service good too. It's a bit of a drive from Lahaina but it's worth it if you want something different (ie not on the beach)
The Plantation House is our go to special occasion restaurant. The views at sunset , the impeccable service and local fresh fish is why we keep coming back each year on our vacation to Maui
I have to acknowledge that the service from the bartender, our hostess , & server were over the top
The beautiful Plantation House Restaurant sits uphill and overlooks Kapalua as well as Moloka’i. Semi-casual attire allows comfortability while still being able to enjoy a high quality setting. Staff is kind and well trained. My date and I enjoyed our wine and bread. The food was delicious; we shared the sashimi and caprese, then our entrees of the fettuccini with beef ragú and braised short rib. Afterwards we bit into a s'more. Overall a great experience, and will definitely come back.
My husband and I were at the Plantation for breakfast. The service is impeccable, the maui bread french toast I had was delicious. The pancake breakfast my husband ordered was large and eggs were cooked perfectly as ordered. the restaurant has an amazing view of the ocean in the distance as well as the beautiful golf course. Seating by the windows gives you a wonderful view.
A very disappointing dinner. The Ritz recommended this as a top restaurant, our experience was quite to the contrary..The waitress was disengaged and not very helpful. The food was pricey and very uninspired. They ordered us a shuttle back to our hotel and then never told us it arrived, let it leave without us and had to be asked multiple times to please call the shuttle again. I’m sure there is better on this upscale island.
What a thoroughly disappointing experience! There was a limited holiday menu and we were never told this and we were handed menus. Far from having special dishes the menu seemed designed to make sure diners could be moved in and out quickly. Most of the things we’d looked forwRd to ordering were not available. Service was off with starters coming before we had a chance to place our wi e order. Food was very salty and was okay in quality, but mediocre is not up to $40 enteee prices. The bartender and location were charming but it was a huge and expensive letdown.
We were looking for good food with an excellent view on Maui. We got both plus excellent service from the hostess and wait staff. The view is incredible and we were seated right at the window. It was a tad noisy due to the fact they had several forklifts working preparing for the upcoming PGA event. Once those finished, the noise level returned to where it should be. Everyone enjoyed their food greatly! We would highly recommend. Make sure you get there in time for sunset!
Plantation House is one of our Maui choices to visit when we want a pleasant ambiance, a wonderful view, and some upscale cuisine. The salads are inventive and beautifully displayed, made with the best Maui produce. I had the Upcountry Butter Lettuce and my wife had the Kula Beet Salad. Both were great. I had the scallop entree which was one of the best scallop preparations I have ever had and my wife had the seared Ahi. Absolutely fresh seafood skillfully presented. They have a fine wine list, we enjoyed a Chateau Langlois Sancerre, which was a nice accompaniment to both the salads and the seafood. Our server Rebecca was delightful. The staff was very attentive from the valets who park your car, the desk staff who greet you and the server and her helper. The view at sunset from a window table is breathtaking.
As always, the Plantation was a special evening w/ a beautiful view and delicious food. We each began w/ a salad. Whether it was the beet, Caesar, or house salad- they were all fresh and an excellent way to begin our meal. Our party of four selected scallops, Mac nut crusted fish and steaks w/ blue cheese. Everyone was extremely pleased w/ his/her selection. The desserts were our least favorite part of the meal. I would not suggest the S’Mores dessert. It sounds like a good idea but it is hard to make prior to getting cold. The cheesecake is creamy so if you prefer a denser cheesecake, don’t order it. The pineapple cake dessert was a hit w/ one of our friends.
The view at sunset is spectacular and one you don’t want to miss if you are fortunate to be on Maui. All in all, a wonderful evening!
Husband and I first trip to Maui. Good food everywhere we went. Because this place was considered more of a foodie fine dining experience we went for a nice dinner. It was good, but I wanted to enjoy it a little bit more than that. We got the Mojito and Mai tai. They were good. My husband got a sashimi/poke appetizer I can't remember which. It was the freshest I've ever scene, quite beautiful really - he loved it. I got a salad with bacon and blue cheese, perfectly done. We got the pea soup to split just to try it, we thought it was delicate and there was a sea flavor in the background that enjoyed. His steak filet was perfect. What kind of fell down was the side of risotto I ordered for my meal. I wasn't super hungry and didn't want meat. The evening was cool so a warm risotto sounded cozy and comforting. It was kind of soupy and dense, but it tasted good. He loved his meal. I'd give mine a 3.5 of 5 stars. Wait staff was very attentive and hospitable. The view was lovely we were seated with ocean views. Our mid week reservation was for 7:30pm in the evening. It seemed rather quiet when we arrived. By the time dessert was ordered they were out of the Mousse and we were the last table left so we decided to opt out of dessert. It felt weird staying. We left right around 9pm. I wanted to enjoy it a little more but really have no negative comments. I just expected it to be a bit more crowded and would have stayed longer. But we would go back, just maybe abit earlier in the evening. Actually the sunset from that spot wod have been lovely I'm sure.
Worth the drive. Amazing views and wonderful service. The drive was a bit out of our way but it is a scenic drive worth every moment. The service was friendly and meal was well paced. We ordered the Sweet Bread French Toast and Loco Moco both 5/5. Service was attentive and priced well for brunch. We had a balcony window seat which makes you feel like you are floating in the sky looking down the hill over the golf course and DT Fleming park beach - btw amazing beach which is life guarded for serious reasons being rip tide/waves/rock.
We will definitely come back. Worth the drive and on the way to many beautiful sites.
If you are a golf nut,you will love this place...great course view, pro shop adjacent to restaurant,I wore long pants and so did most of the older guys...small crowd...good food, maybe a little too sophisticated for a real golf nut,but expensive enough to keep the kids away...older crowd ...it looked to me that most were well able to pay for their dinner, eat early and go to bed...in an expensive nearby second home...
