The Plantation House Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
As always, the Plantation was a special evening w/ a beautiful view and delicious food. We each began w/ a salad. Whether it was the beet, Caesar, or house salad- they were all fresh and an excellent way to begin our meal. Our party of four selected scallops, Mac nut crusted fish and steaks w/ blue cheese. Everyone was extremely pleased w/ his/her selection. The desserts were our least favorite part of the meal. I would not suggest the S’Mores dessert. It sounds like a good idea but it is hard to make prior to getting cold. The cheesecake is creamy so if you prefer a denser cheesecake, don’t order it. The pineapple cake dessert was a hit w/ one of our friends.
The view at sunset is spectacular and one you don’t want to miss if you are fortunate to be on Maui. All in all, a wonderful evening!
Husband and I first trip to Maui. Good food everywhere we went. Because this place was considered more of a foodie fine dining experience we went for a nice dinner. It was good, but I wanted to enjoy it a little bit more than that. We got the Mojito and Mai tai. They were good. My husband got a sashimi/poke appetizer I can't remember which. It was the freshest I've ever scene, quite beautiful really - he loved it. I got a salad with bacon and blue cheese, perfectly done. We got the pea soup to split just to try it, we thought it was delicate and there was a sea flavor in the background that enjoyed. His steak filet was perfect. What kind of fell down was the side of risotto I ordered for my meal. I wasn't super hungry and didn't want meat. The evening was cool so a warm risotto sounded cozy and comforting. It was kind of soupy and dense, but it tasted good. He loved his meal. I'd give mine a 3.5 of 5 stars. Wait staff was very attentive and hospitable. The view was lovely we were seated with ocean views. Our mid week reservation was for 7:30pm in the evening. It seemed rather quiet when we arrived. By the time dessert was ordered they were out of the Mousse and we were the last table left so we decided to opt out of dessert. It felt weird staying. We left right around 9pm. I wanted to enjoy it a little more but really have no negative comments. I just expected it to be a bit more crowded and would have stayed longer. But we would go back, just maybe abit earlier in the evening. Actually the sunset from that spot wod have been lovely I'm sure.
Worth the drive. Amazing views and wonderful service. The drive was a bit out of our way but it is a scenic drive worth every moment. The service was friendly and meal was well paced. We ordered the Sweet Bread French Toast and Loco Moco both 5/5. Service was attentive and priced well for brunch. We had a balcony window seat which makes you feel like you are floating in the sky looking down the hill over the golf course and DT Fleming park beach - btw amazing beach which is life guarded for serious reasons being rip tide/waves/rock.
We will definitely come back. Worth the drive and on the way to many beautiful sites.
If you are a golf nut,you will love this place...great course view, pro shop adjacent to restaurant,I wore long pants and so did most of the older guys...small crowd...good food, maybe a little too sophisticated for a real golf nut,but expensive enough to keep the kids away...older crowd ...it looked to me that most were well able to pay for their dinner, eat early and go to bed...in an expensive nearby second home...
Well, unfortunately the restaurant had to cancel our reservation for this night because of a power failure. It was disappointing, of course, because it was my birthday, but hey, I get it. I'm glad we had gone there to lunch a few days previously. I will return next time I am in Maui. The setting is beautiful, service friendly, and food was quite good!
Unfortunately our experience aside from the excellent service was mediocre at best.
The views are beautiful, but if you get a table overlooking the golf course and ocean, be prepared to have your dinner constantly intruded upon by inconsiderate diners and their unaccompanied children who want to stand by your table to look out.
We had Thanksgiving dinner here and the service was very good. The food was not! The traditional turkey dinner was underwhelming. I’ve had better at a cheap diner. The entire meal was bland and flavorless. Although the turkey was moist and the butter lettuce salad was very good. They really did not exert themselves to prepare a holiday meal worthy of their restaurants reputation. The dressing was subpar to Stovetop and the gravy as translucent and had no depth of flavor. Very very disappointed to have been charged $42 for a thanksgiving plate that was indicative of a novice chef.
We had a late breakfast at 10:00 on a Tuesday. You could order lunch or breakfast at that time. We ordered eggs Benedict with the crab cakes instead of Canadian bacon, pancakes and a breakfast platter. All dishes were phenomenal! We also had non-alcoholic Bloody Mary (their own recipe and nice and spicy) and a lava flow — delish!
My wife and I went to Plantation House on our last night in Maui to celebrate our wedding anniversary before returning home. We wish we had gone earlier in our trip, because we definitely would have gone again. Fantastic views, nice quiet atmosphere and the service was top notch. The appetizer special that evening was out of this world.
Becca, our waitress was awesome. She gave us a card wishing us a happy anniversary with a special dessert treat. Just a great dining experience. We will definitely be back.
The Sommelier was wonderful, he was spot on with the wine choice. The support staff was also quite good. The waitress was not very astute, she knew she got part of our order wrong, yet she did not try to correct it. My wife (her birthday) ordered the special (sea bass) but was brought the mahi. For her it was dry and too salty. For myself, I did order the mahi, mine was moist and flavorful. The pork belly appetizer was just ok. If you order coffee, order the French Press (espresso is made by a machine not a barista).
For the price, so not worth the drive or the expense. We recommend that if you feel the need to go that far, go for lunch or before sunset when you can enjoy what we believe would be a great view.
