The Plantation House Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I went to Plantation House on our last night in Maui to celebrate our wedding anniversary before returning home. We wish we had gone earlier in our trip, because we definitely would have gone again. Fantastic views, nice quiet atmosphere and the service was top notch. The appetizer special that evening was out of this world.
Becca, our waitress was awesome. She gave us a card wishing us a happy anniversary with a special dessert treat. Just a great dining experience. We will definitely be back.
What a fabulous experience! From the moment we arrived at the valet everything was perfect. The hostesses were so welcoming and gave us a table with a panoramic view so we got to enjoy the Maui sunset. Our server Amy and her assistants provided impeccable service. Every dish we had was outstanding but our favorites were the fois gras, the pork rib eye & the s'mores dessert. I expect to see the pastry chef on a cooking show... the s'mores was the best dessert I've had this year. The combination of the silky chocolate with the gooey toasted marshmallow, the cool ice cream on the lightly spiced cookie was delightful; and the peanut butter powder took it to the next level. I highly recommend The Plantation House.
Plantation House is consistently good. The food quality is always excellent and the views during the morning and afternoon are amazing. Only criticism would be the interior and decor feels dated and could use a renovation and update. That however does not deter us from coming every time we visit the island.
We went for dinner on a rainy night, after sunset, so there was zero view. But that didn’t dampen the dining experience. The staff - especially our server - were friendly and efficient, and since the restaurant wasn’t busy, he allowed us to have a leisurely dinner. The food was excellent. We both had the macadamia nut encrusted mahi-mahi, which is a restaurant staple everywhere on Maui, but we’re in Hawaii so why not have fresh fish?
Fellow diners were also enjoying the comfortable ambiance and we chatted between tables, which is a rare occurrence that proved enjoyable.
The restaurant is a separate structure that sits alone on the golf course with free parking nearby. It is very clean and modern with windows completely surrounding the huge dining area. There is not a bad table in the house if you want a view of Maui during the day, as the inner tables are tiered. They also have a nice-looking lounge/bar in an adjacent room, with viewing windows. It looked inviting.
We dined during the promotional Kapalua Restaurant Week and picked from the special menu, so the value was outstanding.
All in all, an excellent restaurant, but it might be a bit expensive for some. If you want the view, go for lunch or before sunset.
We came to The Plantation House based on its appealing choices during restaurant week in Kapalua. We had been once before and love the decor and ambiance. The pea soup and caprese starters were excellent! As were the mac crusted mahi mahi and duck. The pineapple cake dessert was good especially the coconut ice cream with it. Overall the food was really good. The service however wasn't. The table next to us had a different server, who was very friendly and responsive. Ours wasn't. He seemed distant and quick to walk away, almost like his demeanor might have been different had we not been there for the restaurant week special. He was odd, quirky. Not helpful, almost uncomfortable. Fortunately others served our dishes but his followup was unimpressive to say the least. As we were served our dessert, we had to ask for coffee, causing him to pause, take our 'order' then swiftly went on. Really strange service from this waiter. Made the evening not quite as nice unfortunately.
We went to the plantation house for breakfast while on vacation. We were the first to be seated so we had our choice of tables. We chose a table by the window overlooking the first tee with views extending out to the ocean. The food and service were excellent. The prices were in line for a fine dining establishment. We will be back the next time we are in Maui.
My husband and I went for dinner for our Anniversary. We were greeted by the friendly hostess with a flower for my hair. After seating us, our server brought us each a complimentary glass of champagne and a card signed by the staff. View was gorgeous and food was delicious. Our server was very attentive. Can't wait to go back next year while here. First class beautiful place.
Our friend our friend back home recommended the plantation house restaurant. She said try the eggs benedict. My wife ordered the traditional and I ordered the sausage Benedict. Both were very good. The flavor in mine was outstanding. Well worth the trip up the curvy road.
