The Plantation House Restaurant

We received prompt and attentive service from Mario and the bus staff. We found the food delicious but the menu somewhat limited for the entree selections. We ended up having several starters for our main course so we could experience different tastes. One member of our party had the veggie pasta and pronounced it (largely due to the macadamia nut pesto) the best meal she’s had on our almost two week vacation. The noise level was a little high, and some soft surfaces might help.
Service was a little slow and food was not as good as expected.
Made a request for table by window 3 months ahead and it was not honored
We dined for lunch two Sunday’s in a row. After waiting 45 minutes for our food the first Sunday, we waited 20 minutes for a server to come to our table and over an hour for our food the second Sunday. When it arrived, it was cold. I am a pretty understanding person as we have been visiting this restaurant for 20 years. After back to back very bad experiences and a disappointing change in the menu (no Bananas Foster pancakes or great brunch items), I won’t be bringing my friends and family here.
Very slow service. Waited 35 minutes for our Breakfast. New menu is very limited and disappointing. Food was good when it eventually came. Used to be one of our favorites, had a reservation for next week. Not sure if we are going back.
Mahi Mahi fish was sooooo dry. Small portions.
Outstanding service and outstanding food !!
Very nice. Great wines.
Worst meal we had on the island. 14 oz prime rib and veggies came out cold — they reheated so now overcooked. Not 14 oz more like 8 oz - so thin and not tender. Dessert was still frozen tiramisu. Wine order was mixed up by a new server. Bus person did not refill water nor pick up after appetizer dishes before main came. Prices way too high for what you get.
Was a great experience, food was awesome, sunset was awesome. Ask for table, close to open windows with groups,of 2 or 4. We had 7 and sat away from the views, openings but still had a great view...
Very pleasant. Great views. Enjoyable experience.
Brandy, our waitress was great. We have come here frequently and it is always outstanding.
We always enjoy the food, relative quiet and relaxation of this beautiful restaurant. The breakfast choices are delicious and varied.
We chose the Plantation House for our family dinner to celebrate a great vacation. It was our last night before heading home. The food was great but the waitress was very inattentive, she spent a great deal of time waiting on the table for 2 next to us and pretty much ignored us. In addition, it’s nice to have the option to valet park the car but I prefer to park my own car (as I’ve done in the past).
Spectacular view. Excellent service. All around relaxing and enjoyable dining.
Great for special occasions and memorable meals. Outstanding service, food and views.
we have been to the Plantation House a way too many times to count for breakfast. It has been our favourite way to start the day on holidays. This time was awful. We were seated at our reservation time,
had coffee and ordered. 40 minutes later a cold breakfast of eggs and such was delivered. Not even everything we ordered. The part that bugged me the most was the bill automatically adds 3% surcharge for the kitchen staff. I am not even sure if there was kitchen staff that morning.
Hesitant to go back
My five star rating should say it all although having to write a 50 character review is slightly irritating
The Plantation has been one of our favorite restaurants in Maui. We have had many many wonderful meals over the past twelve years. Unfortunately with the change in management, this awesome destination now offers mediocre food. Our Sunday brunch was partially comped because of failure in the kitchen. The wonderful banana bread is now boring and not worth the calories. Breakfast offerings are a shadow of what they were just a year ago.Normally we would visit several times a week for a very pleasant experience.
We are going to revisit the location later this week in hopes that our experience was just “an off moment in time”.
We deeply regret our extreme review but folks should know that life has changed at the Plantation restaurant.
We’ve eaten here for years — and previously thoroughly enjoyed it. However, this year is very disappointing. The menu has been redone, and there are NO pancakes on the menu. I have loved the pineapple upside down pancakes, or the macadamia nut pancakes. The regular French toast also is not on the menu. I was so disappointed—and will probably not be anxious to go back.
My husband had the eggs/potatoes/Portuguese sausage meal and said it was good.
Plantation House never disappoints, but it's getting pricier all the time. You cannot beat the view!
We were not sure if it was a good choice for families, as we had 2 children under 3, as well as 5 adults, but we could not have had a better experience. Very professional service from Noah, food was amazing, loved the ambiance. I would recommend to anyone for a romantic dinner for 2 or to bring the whole family.
Overall a good to outstanding experience, but you have to be patient. We watched and waited at the hostess stand while 3 or 4 servers walked past us, took a reservation on the phone and failed to acknowledge our presence. Ultimately the 'correct' person arrived and seated us at a table with a great view out over the golf course and toward the ocean. The service was good but slow, including the kitchen. We were not in any sort of a hurry, but I wouldn't go back if I had less than 90 minutes for breakfast. The food was tasty although my wife's eggs benedict were delivered with no meat, rather than the requested Portuguese sausage substitution for the Canadian Bacon. The kitchen remade it for her and once it arrived she thoroughly enjoyed it.
It was a lovely evening. Make reservations early at 5 or so to enjoy the scenery.
Excellent drinks and food. Scenery is beautiful!
Great food great service
Perfect in all reguards
Great food and excellent service. And the views are perfect.
I had higher expectations for this restaurant. It started off with them not having a record of our reservation despite showing my open table confirmation. The wine was so so selection so we tried two being promoted and were disappointed. We selected two fish preparations. the Ahi was cooked perfectly but the sides were very over cooked and dry.. expected better
My husband always takes me here for my birthday brunch💕
The food is always delicious.
But more than thatthe views are outstanding!! Molokai is just across the channel and it’s not rare to sight the Humpback whales !!!
Beautiful setting, gorgeous views, fabulous food, wonderful service. The Plantation House is always the perfect choice for any occasion.
Service was very bad. Food was okay but not great. Filet my husband ordered was very good
We come for the VIEW... food is ok but that would not be a reason to go... would be nice to go for the Food AND the View
Last visit with good friends
We were seated by the open windows in the front which was perfect, possibly because it was our anniversary??? And the staff gave us a signed card - nice touch! The food was very good - just not fabulous. They were out of any type of black tea, which I thought was odd, and not good for me! My husband had the Kalua pork omelette which he said was really good and a huge portion. I had the Plantation Benedict which was fine. The potatoes that came with both entrees were extra delicious. We also ordered the banana bread, which is to die for. We sat next to a couple who ordered just coffee and banana bread, and that’s probably what I’d do next time.
We are really disappointed that they have not returned to their prior breakfast menu. The current menu is entirely inadequate.
Lunch with a view of #18 and #1. Plus the ocean in the background. Had the turkey sandwich which was great.
Love the shirt/uniforms. As always, food, ambience, service was exceptional, as expected. Mahalo
Wonderful views, food and service! We look forward to dining at The Plantation Restaurant every time we visit. The recent remodeling is beautiful too!
Great food as always, great place for sunset ciew
Went for the Tuesday night date night special that was advertised on the web site, 2 dinners and a bottle of wine for $79.95 only to find out that they no longer were offering it. They were sorry about that and offered two glasses of wine or dessert to compensate. Ordered the chopped salad and the macadamia nut crusted mahi mahi. Did not find any of the food to be special in the least. As a matter of fact, thought the fish was a little overcooked, and was convinced that the fish that I make at home is more tender, and brought to the table at a warmer temperature. Our waiter was attentive, and the room as pretty and quiet. However, in the end, the restaurant did not meet our expectations, and we will not be returning.
