I made a reservation and my table was ready right away. After seating, the server was no where in sight for 20 minutes. After placing our order, my friend's drink came after 10 minutes and they forgot about mine. After another 15 minutes my drink came. Then after about 30 minutes our meals came. The food was acceptable. It was a Saturday, but not all the tables were full, so I don't see why service was so poor. I wouldn't have tried this restaurant if it wasn't for the organic selections.
I made a reservation for 2 and my lunch date got caught in a traffic accident on 280. She was not able to get to the restaurant until over an hour after the initial reservation. The staff was kind and did not make me feel unwelcome occupying a table for over 2 hours.
Have eaten here 2x before and aside from a noisy room when full, have been happy with service/drinks/food.
On our last occasion, I ordered the vegan burger (I think the Cali-With avocado) and requested vegan please-No cheese.
Upon receiving my order, there was a big glob of cheese. No biggie, mistakes happen. I sent the burger back and to my shock, all the cooks did was scrape off some of the cheese and remove a good bit of the burger as well. huh?!!?!? Sloppy to say the least.
Too bad as this place is fun to eat at. Sorry to say that the food falls far short.
We received a gift certificate from friends, but never ate at The Plant. We arrived at 5:15PM. There were approximately six patrons inside when we arrived for an early dinner. It looked like a nice place.
We were seated and given our menus along with a glass of water. A few minutes later, our waitress come to our table to inform us that HALF the menu was not available: no pizzas and half of the daily specials were not available. How can you open for dinner with no food to serve?
My wife's red curry dish/with chicken was not good. The curry was not a red curry sauce as described in the menu. It was dry paste that looked like it was scraped off of the side of the pan. There was a scant amount of chicken as well and her rice was luke warm. My wasabi burger had a good flavor; however, it should have been seared to hold it together, as well as too make it warm. Oh yeah, $8.00 for two small shiitake spring rolls. Sorry not going back.
The lunch fare was mediocre and the service was slow despite it not being particularly busy for a Friday afternoon. Thankfully, the company was good, which made a just okay lunch a much better experience. Their weekend brunch menu is much better.
We were seated on time.
Service slow, ambience loud, very noisy.
never disappointed...though the service in burlingame plant is much better than others. from the hostess to the server...fantastic. and never ever disappointed with the food. always fresh and healthy.
Great food and excellent service. We had a couple hiccups with our brunch drink orders, and the waiter took care of it immediately. Great neighborhood brunch/lunch place. Wish you had a location in Los Gatos. Oysters, full bar, organic food. Love it!
The Plant locations in San Francisco are much better than the Burlingame location, which makes me sad as I used to live in SF and now I live on the Peninsula. I wish Peninsula restaurants could figure out how to replicate the service and food in SF. The food is mediocre at best at this location which is a bummer as there really aren't any other places like it in the area.
I generally like the food here, as with other of their outlets, but the service was below par on this visit, probably because our server was new to the job. Food came out irregularly and a side dish was forgotten. Quality of food is adequate, given the menu choices, and it is nice to have so many vegetarian offerings available, but not really a destination type place. It is good for dropping in before or after a movie, as we did.
The Plant Organic at any location delivers on their promise to have fresh and delicious foods. As a vegetarian, it is really nice to have so many options that still have loads of flavor. The staff is very courteous and prompt as well.
I've been here several times. I'm the organic/gluten-free kind of person so it fits.... Food are tasty, their raw raspberry cheesecake is to die for! Love, love, love.... Their roasted chicken is good too. Needless to say, I'll be back.
Waitress took a long time to greet us. The first set of drinks took at least 15 minutes. She took forever to take our order.
Second round of drinks took even longer which was hard to understand why since the restaurant was empty.
i have been there before, and service has always been slow. But this time was even more disappointing. If you want to have great service, The Plant is not the place to go.
We have been to Plant several times, but the reason to go is the Plant burger. It is a flavorful and filling vegetarian entree (I am not a vegetarian, by the way). THe atmosphere and service is always pleasant.
They constantly run out of items on the menu. The service is less then desirable but we did have a really nice busboy.
Everyone was friendly but I had to ask about my tea 3 times before it came. I guess our server went on break right after I ordered it and he's the only one allowed to pour hot water? Still, the food was excellent and I would go back.
This is the third time I have gone for lunch and the food is exceptional. Try just about anything and it will be fresh and tasty.
My wife and I are vegan and they always take good care of us here. Lots of good options and the waiters really get what it means to be vegan.
love the food and place, though please lower the volume as hard to hear even the waiter.
We ate outside for lunch, so it was quiet, but the inside was pretty loud. Everything we ate was amazing. I wish I lived closer so I could eat there regularly (though it's probably good for my wallet that I don't).
I'm sad to write this review. I have been to their cafe to pick up juices and salads. Yum.
The restaurant however....
Long story short...I waited 15 minutes for alkaline water... And over half hour for a soup and salad. And this was not a busy time where the waitress was overwhelmed. There were maybe 5 other tables seated...if that!
I was late back to work and never got my food!
Maybe I can try again when I have more time to eat...
We have been frequent guests here for Sunday brunch, so obviously love the concept and menu.
The last two visits, we were disappointed that the servers got our orders wrong. Last time, we made a fuss, and our order went back to the kitchen.
This time, we didn't bother because it was so hard to capture our server who seemed to have extra duty by taking care of the additional tables on the sidewalk.
Also, took a long time to even get the check.
Hoping for better....
I love having lunch here for the food...but the service is under par. It is very hard to get wait staff to interact. I have been here 4 times, each time I had to ask for the bill. The food was very good, great lunch spot. A bit exspensive, but worth it for organic ingredients. I hope they improve the wait staff issue.
We went to The Plant Café Organic in Burlingame because we had two birthdays to celebrate and half our party is vegetarian (3 out of 6). I have been to Plant Café in SF many times and always had a great meal/experience. I don't even know where to start. The first thing the server said to us--before hello even--was "we are out of all pizzas." It went down from there. We waited for everything. We were brought the wrong drinks. Five people got their food, but the sixth person then waited 10 minutes. One of the guests saw their drink at the bar and watched the ice melt...he didn't get it served to him for at least 15 minutes. The server was waiting for the other two drinks to be made but the bartender was watching the game.
Delicious salads and the most wonderful veggie burger ever! A fantastic place for lunch or dinner. They focus on organic ingredients. The kale salad is wonderful. A divine cheesecake without cheese. Many choices.
We had a great time. The food and wine is very good and we were both able to find parking!
I went to The Plant about a month ago for Saturday brunch. Food was fantastic, sitting outside provided a pleasant atmosphere, but the service was laughably slow and food was not prepared as ordered. This time, the food was again wonderful. We split a Plant Burger and a Dino Kale Quinoa Salad, both fresh and flavorful. Service even worse than last time! Items not served as ordered, staff members neither knowledgeable nor interested in the menu or our needs. No outside seating weekdays, and the noise level high for a casual lunch. I love getting the great vegan food offered, so I'll go back, but I'll be vigilant and assertive when ordering!Stopped at the takeout window at the side for pastries, delicious, service was exceptionally good.
Sadly,I won't be back for a long, long time. Service has been going down steadily.
When we arrived there was no hostess, only a person with bad English skills. And he could not find my reservation but lied and said it was ok and seated us. Later Open Table contacted me as a "no show" ! There seemed only one busser(same as at entrance and 1 waitress.Hostess came back though later. Food is fair not great. We were still eating our appetizer when they already brought the main course. My son had no knife and had to get it from next table.Really sad what's happening here. Wine selection is also not the best and many btg taste stale.
Met a friend for brunch and had the special which was eggs and mushrooms and a fritter made of quinoa and other good stuff. Mighty tasty, and they have the best pancakes of any breakfast place I've gone to.
I've been here several times. Every time I try something new and am never disappointed. I highly recommend you try it, particularly if you're looking for healthy fair.
When you ask for sweetener such as Stevia or Splenda and the server says, "I think we're out!" And then he proceeds to say, "We are out of a lot of things!" If we were not with another couple who wanted to go there, we would have gotten up and left. Then food was just as bad as ther service. The salad with chicken was totally tasteless--the chicken looked boiled in water. I have not been in a restaurant that was this bad in a LONG time. And it wasn't cheap, which was the least of our issues if it had been decent. I wouldn't send anyone to this place!
The food was delicious. Loved the Dino Kale salad. My duck was delicious! Only complaint was the Clorox rinse left in my wine class...which I found after my wine was poured. Excellent wait staff.
The service was terribly slow and the manager was ridiculously unattentive. 25 minutes to get water? We then ordered drinks and we watched our server walk away and continue to clear tables and socialize without putting our order in. Be warned.
My friend and I hadn't seen each other for a while and it was a great place to catch up.
So glad to have a "green" place to eat! Great healthy choices and wonderful dessert as well. Will be happy to go back. Have been twice for dinner and once for lunch in ONE month! Great alternative in our new eating regime!
Overall, we enjoyed dining here! The quinoa and the halibut were VERY good...but my husband ordered a salad and was very disappointed.
Servers were very friendly and we never felt rushed.
My wife is hard core vegan and I am mostly vegan. Our sever was VERY accommodating and knowledgeable. She was passionate about good service and it really showed. She made a small mistake here or there, but it was great having a vegan server who knew what she was doing!!!
The food was excellent too. My son (hard core omnivore) ate the plant burger and thought it quite good. The smoothies were outstanding.
My only complaint was the tiny ramekin of ketchup. What is up with that? Is there a worldwide ketchup shortage? I understand not putting the Costco size bottle on the table, but maybe a bigger serving? There were four of us with potato fries (excellent by the way!). Give me some more ketchup!!!
We picked The Plant Cafe in Burlingame as it was convenient for us to come from different parts of the Peninsula, but especially because the menu was organic and had many gluten free options. It did not disappoint.
I am eating organic, and we had a delicious and innovative dinner at the Plant!!! It has a lovely interior and presentation and service were excellent!!! All the food was prepared very well, our favorite of the night was a roasted cauliflower soup, but everything was great! The pan seared coconut crusted halibut with mango salsa was great too!! We need a Plant in the South Bay!!!
1. We ordered two appetizers and one did not get served. We had to ask for the second appetizer when they brought out our entrees.
2. My date ordered the cocount crusted halibut and found it to be bland, not flavor. The mango salsa was non existent.
The ambiance was nice. Prices were reasonable.
