Food was just ok. This was just after St. Patrick’s Day weekend, so we’ll cut them some slack. Our server, Pam was awesome! She made our dining experience well worth it
Good food, great service in a unique historic building.
Awesome food, great drinks, and excellent service in a really cool atmosphere. The gift shop was spendy, but had good stuff in it.
Food and service were great. We weren’t offered a “tour” but I understood because it was St. Patrick’s Day.
Loved the green fried tomatoes and the pecan chicken. Large portions, fast, friendly service, good Bloody Mary and Moscow mule too.
St Patrick’s Day!
I dined at the Pirate’s House as a teenager, and remember really liking it. I wanted to come again as an adult, so we made it a point to go during our stay in Savannah over the weekend. I’m hoping it was a diner experience created by St. Patrick’s Day, but our dinner was not spectacular. The check-in area was very crazy, and we had a very hard time figuring out who were guests and who were staff because everyone was chatting amount themselves and were all in crazy outfits. We got seated, and the server quickly got our drink orders. She brought the drinks and rolls. The rolls she said were over cooked, but she promised to bring fresh ones shortly. I have food allergies, and asked to speak to the chef. She found out what my allergies are, and left. Several minutes later she comes back telling me that all I can eat are the salads and steaks, and that with the steak I would have to get a side salad because they had no alternatives. I was disappointed the chef wouldn’t even try to do something different, but I ordered the steak. It took forever to get our food, and we had to ask for the fresh rolls since our server forgot to bring fresh ones. While eating my steak, I found a long hair, and was so grossed out I couldn’t finish eating my dinner. We told the server when she came back, and she didn’t seem surprised. She gave a half hearted apology, and instant said she would take it off the bill. I was very excited about eating here again, but the meal experience was so lack luster that I don’t feel the need to come back again. Like I said, I’m hoping it was just the craziness if St. Patrick’s Day that made this meal not very good.
Great menu and great service! Try the pecan crusted fried chicken!
My girlfriends and I were in Savannah for the St. Patrick's Day parade and had lunch at The Pirate's House. They had a buffet set up and the food was SO good! The service was decent and the atmosphere was really cool. We also had a good seat where we could still see the parade go by on Broad Street. I'd love to go back and try their regular dining menu.
A fun place to go if you haven’t been to Savannah since it’s a historic spot. Menu is quick diverse to meet everyone’s needs. All ages will enjoy!
I brought my nephews to Pirate House, thinking they would enjoy the history and the pirates. BUT they loved the food more.
Excellent place to meet up with old friends. We came in from Memphis, TN to visit for the weekend. When asking where we should dine Pirate House was #1 mention. So glad we took our 3 teens here. Fun atmosphere, good food but pretty pricey.
Everything was excellent, including where we were seated, all alone in a quiet room. However, about halfway through our meal, a large noisy group was seated at the next table making it impossible for our small family group to hear each other speak. Not the Pirates' House fault, but really cut our after-dinner time short.
Great food. Large portions. Server was very nice.
Dined with my husband. We were looking for a casual meal. I had the shrimp and pasta in a lemon butter sauce, my husband the fish (I think tilapia). Both of our meals were flavorless and barely warm. My shrimp was rubbery and the butter sauce tasted like vegetable oil. Dan’s fish was topped with crab. Not only was the fish luke warm, the crab topping was cold. Our server was present but disinterested. No personality.
This is a must avoid. If you’re looking for something easy on the budget and low key, order a fish sandwich from McDonalds.
Excellent restaurant and even with its touristy nature, it impressed my family and I with its food (especially the she crab soup, the best thing out of everything we all got), incredible service where our server was highly knowledgeable about the area and the history of the restaurant, and the overall location due to its history. Stands out in a city with such a high caliber for cuisine and history.
Food not as good as prior 4 visits
The crab augratin had shells the pecan chicken was greasy and the food was not up to the usual
I love the selection of food available. Great ambience.
The catfish was authentic southern, but the coleslaw was the best, and most unique I have ever had.
AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING!! Wonderful tour of the whole place. Food was excellent even better drinks. And The gift shop was cute. Will definitely be back next time I’m in Savannah!
We had a great experience at The Pirates House. Our server, Margot, was excellent. The food was a delicious representation of Southern cooking, which was exactly what we Northeners were looking for.
Great choice, fun history tour with pirate!
Overall satisfied with our experience. We were there celebrating our son's birthday. Very disappointed in where we were seated- back room away from everything. We made reservations nearly a month ago and were expecting to be seated somewhere in one of the more decorated and historic rooms. Our waitress was wonderful. They brought our son a birthday dessert. Our waitress said that she tried to get the pirate to come by and say happy birthday and for a picture, but he never came and was preoccupied with tours.
My Parents used to bring my sister and me to the Pirates House to celebrate our Birthdays (we are 4 days apart). I have not been to this restaurant in over 20 years and the food was even better than I remembered. She crab soup was AWESOME!!! And, the service was great!! It really brought back a lot of happy memories. Trust me, you will enjoy every bite!
We were extremely disappointed with the overall experience. The food was over priced and over cooked. We were expecting more of a “pirate” experience. There were two ladies dressed in pirate gear and you had to tip them to get the history and tour of the restaurant.
Seated at the Open Talble reservation time. Very good service. Great authentic atmosphere. Good food. Good value. Unique place.
Great atmosphere. Excellent food. Reasonable pricing !
Visiting from out of town and saw a lot of good reviews for this place. I was not disappointed. The prices were a little high but after my plate was in front of me and I saw the amount of food I got I no longer cared! And the food was so good! The waiter was a little talkative but he was very nice and made sure our dinner went perfectly. Absolutely recommend this place.
Food was surprisingly good and reasonably priced. Room was quiet enough for conversation and waitress was attentive. We’ll be back.
This restaurant is a historic landmark in Savannah, rated well by travelers so we decided to give it a try. We were passing through Savannah on our way from Florida back to Virginia. The restaurant is family friendly so there were patrons of all ages with the accompanying noise. However, the service was excellent and the food was very good. The pirate theme is interesting and authentic and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Not recommended for someone looking for a quiet, intimate dinner with gourmet offerings; but, for visitors, families, and hungry locals, it appears to be a great choice.
Also our go to place when visiting Savannah! Always get the pecan crusted chicken, like dinner and dessert in one! Food, wait staff and atmosphere are amazing, try it you won’t be disappointed!
I had out of town guests and they picked this
Place for dinner
We went for a nice dinner before a concert and as we had never been there. We were pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was very nice and the service was very friendly and great!
My experience with this restaurant was extremely poor. The web site stated that it served a lunch buffet until 4:00 however when we arrived at 3:00 we were told that there was no longer a lunch buffet. The waitress spilled red wine all over a person in our party. They made no offer to clean or replace the clothing that they destroyed. This ruined our entire experience at the restaurant. We were told that the manager was unavailable to talk with us about the situation because he was in a meeting. I would definitely not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
As expected the restaurant was very busy, however since I had reservations (and showed up a bit early) I was seated right away. My server was prompt and pleasant, and my meal was brought out fairly quickly. I did have to wait a while for my dessert (they were out of my first choice, the Banana bread pudding). I ordered the "Black and White" Mousse. Although it was quite a large serving apparently the dark and white chocolate were combined for an all brown colored mousse. That was a little disappointing especially after having to wait so long. Overall the meal was ok and the service was adequate.
The fried green tomatoes were not only cold but really greasy and not good at all. In general the food was mediocre and a big disappointment.
Drink menu was good.
The waitress seemed more focused on telling us her life story than anything interesting about the historic building.
We came from Idaho and discovered this restaurant on a tour. We loved this restaurant for the atmosphere and exceptional wait staff. We both ordered the pecan chicken and I thought it was cooked and plated very well. This was the best fried chicken I have ever had. Light, crispy, juicy and so much flavor! I will never eat fried chicken again without comparing to this Pirates House offering. We were expecting to get only a breast, and were surprised to also get a wing, thigh and drumstick on the plate. The mashed yams and green beans were also delicious. Comfort food at its finest!
The food was surprisingly upscale and they had a separate gluten free menu. They sat us in a side room with other couples, so it was actually romantic and quiet. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. The overall experience was wonderful!
We had a great waitress. The staff was good from the second we walked in. I would highly recommend the restaurant. I had a neck injury from a car accident and our waitress couldn’t have been kinder bringing me inc, etc.
it was a fun dinner
Good food, great service
