About Permanently Closed - The Pineapple Room by Alan Wong
This restaurant is permanently closed. This popular off-shoot of local chef Alan Wong is a favorite place for a relaxing dinner, lunch or weekend get-together with friends, where you'll find Hawaii favorites prepared with the freshest island ingredients and flavors influenced by the local style we all grew up with. Our farm-to-table menu highlights the bounty of our farmers and an array of fresh seafood and fish from our Hawaiian waters.
Lunch is served daily, and we have a variety of salads, sandwiches, and entrees to fit every guest, including our business lunch clientele. For those looking for a quiet, relaxing evening, we offer dinner Monday through Saturday. Breakfast is popular among our local crowd on Saturdays, and we now feature an All Day Brunch Buffet on Sundays.
The Pineapple Room by Alan Wong is Chef Wong's second restaurant in Honolulu and is located in Macy's on Level 3 in the Ala Moana Shopping Center.

Girlfriend and I had July 23, breakfast reservations, but since PR was closing, we were fortunate to have lunch on last day, July 22.
Nicole, our requested server was as efficient and friendly as ever. The manager was also warm and appreciative of our regular patronage.
Food was excellent and experience was bittersweet. Will miss PR and all who work there.
Thank you for all the years of yummy meals and wonderful service.

Enjoyed eating here over the years so I had to eat here one last time before closing....kind of disappointed because we always got the focaccia bread as appetizer but we got buns instead and the kalua bacon tomato sandwich only had a small piece of bacon. The ceasar salad that came with the salad had stale croutons. Was looking forward to eating here the last time but it was disappointing to end this way.
This has been the second time this month I came to this restaurant before they close. The second time has been worse then the first. The service did
not improve and by lunch, they had ran out of two entrees one of which I
specifically went there to eat for the last time. I was totally disappointed not just me but my whole family.
food was great, good presentation and the combination of flavors outstanding
service was slow, slow , slow and the restrauant wasn't that busy.
we choose a week night so we could get in and out fast --- took us 2 1/2 hours
and it was not because we ate slow. we could have been done in 1 hour if it wasn't
for the service. give yourself lots of time
Wanted to try this place since they were closing. We waited about 10mins before our waiter greeted us. She passed us a few times but never stopped to say Hi or I will be right with you. First disappointment was the cheeseburger for my 3 year old. I cut the burger in half and found that it was rare, uncooked and cold. Alan Wong...Why would you serve this to a child? They took the burger and we got the exact same cut in half burger back. Looked like they just threw the burger in the microwave to cook. Second I asked the waiter if the fried rice had onions and I told her onions make me itch. She said yes so I decided to order the risotto and salmon. Got my plate and was very disappointed. The risotto was undercook rice was very hard and large pieces of white onions. As a waiter why didn't she warn me or suggest another plate knowing I can't eat onions? It's no wonder they're closing. Terrible service and terrible cook.
I used to enjoy dining there food and service was great. Maybe because they r closing however, we asked w waiters for some water, 20 min goes by no one filled up my water, so I had to grab water myself from the side table. My main entray was not cooked well. They took it off, however I was not happy with food quality and service. Very disappointed......
Their menu is very limited to begin with but they had run out of main dishes by the time we go there for dinner at 6:00 pm. They also were out of the a dessert that my fiancé wanted. It appears they are closing and either they don't really care or a lot of people (more than expected) are eating there for the last time and they are running out of food.
Restaurant was very busy and everyone was bustling. Had reservations for 1245p was seated 1pm. They were out of a few things and the waiter was very nice and told us that the food would take awhile to come out before we even ordered. After we had ordered they came back and advised us the side dishes were out and we had to get fries instead and mixed greens instead of Cesar salad.
Had to ask for our payment to be taken as we waited for our waiter to come back and didn't know what happened to him.
This was a business meal with another meeting scheduled for one of the individuals immediately after our meal, yet our meal took about an hour to be served. One of the individuals ordered a salad and a main entrée but did not have the time to eat his salad since they were both served together. The wait time was totally unacceptable! The server explained that the restaurant had a large order to fill although that should not have been a good reason for the long delay. Due to the delay, two of us returned late for a conference call.
Our selection of this restaurant was to patronize this place one last time before it closed its doors; however, it turned out to be a very unpleasant experience.
Disappointed. With news that this restaurant is closing at the end of the month, made a reservation for lunch. Seated in a timely manner, food was good, but the wait and service left a lot to be desired. After waiting for food for an hour and no update from the server, I waved her down. Was told that food would probably be another 30 minutes. No apology, no explanation and this is after I waved her down. So disappointed.
Waited over one hour for our food. We got there at 11:00 am sharp, waited a few minutes for our table, already knew what we wanted to order so we ordered immediately, and received our food at 12:10 pm. No one came back to do a table check after dropping our food, so after 10 minutes, I waved at the manager to ask for salt (there are no salt/pepper shakers at the table). All 3 tables around us also waited an hour for their food. They were hosting a special event at the time, so that may have been the reason for the long delay. The event room had trays of food being carried back and forth, while every table in the restarurant and every customer seated at the bar only had bread on their tables even at 11:50. The loco moco was $23 per person, and not that impressive. Of the 2 eggs, one yolk had cracked on the grill, so one was already drained/empty. The dish was greasy and the gravy not flavorful (as everyone on yelp raves it should be).
Would never go back, but I heard they are closing at the end of month anyway.
Pineapple Room used to be one of our favorite places to go for breakfast and dinner. Their food and service used to be amazing. When we went this last time though, everything seemed to fall flat.
When we checked in at 8:50am for our reservation at 9am the receptionist took our name and then we sat on the side. There were a few other people that checked in after us as well. When it was time to be seated however, everyone who checked in after us was seated before we were. I'm not sure if there is a specific order they have to seat in but I would guess that if we were to check in before another party, we would be seated before them. Guess in this case that isn't so.
Then we were seated and then we waited. And waited some more. While all the tables were getting their orders taken, we were still waiting for drinks. Finally someone came and we order coffees for the table and chocolate milk for my son. Again, we waited and waited. Finally the manager had to come over and take our order. Order was taken and yet we were still waiting for the chocolate milk for our son. If anyone else has a hungry grumpy 3 year old, they'll understand that waiting for even a drink is not fun for anyone. Eventually my mom had to go up to the bar counter outside of the dining area to attempt to get his chocolate milk. No one was there and then the manager saw her and told her he would make it.
Food. I used to just love coming here for the pastries or toast with guava jelly. But since this is our last time we're going to eat here I ate the Hawaiian Style Eggs Benedict. While the food itself was good, when we finally got our food after asking someone (again not our server) to check on it, my food and my mother's food was cold.
I get that it's closing in a couple weeks but you would think that their service wouldn't disappear 3 weeks before then.
Things that were good though, the manager in the red shirt and the really friendly receptionist. (Not the younger one)
We've had wonderful experiences dining at the Pineapple Room for years. However, this last visit was quite disappointing and it's sad to think, with their final closure, this will be our last memory of our dining experience at the Pineapple Room. They got our order wrong. The food portions was tiny for the price. The fish was salty, as if they were disguising it's lack of freshness.
Good food, very poor service and attentiveness.
Server (Manny) came to the table twice in the hour and 45 minutes we were there. First to take our order then to bring the check. Never checked us between those two times. Checked on other tables near us but never came to our table only a few feet away. Very very poor service.
I ordered a beer at the beginning which took 20 minutes to arrive, even though it was a can, which requires no preparation. Would've had at least two more if he came to check. Lost business. They apparently don't care.

Very sad and disappointing. Ruined our afternoon.
Terrible service... short staff created bad service food didn't come out 90min. No water refill I self serviced. No manager approached to apologized. He concentrated serving food no one controlled dining. Hosthelp keep takes walk in but no server approached them so couple people walked out.
