The Pig Ratings and Reviews
I was looking for a fun place to have dinner with a group of friends and The Pig was suggested. From the moment we were greeted at the door until the time we left, the experience was outstanding. Fantastic service! One of our party had a garlic allergy and the server did a wonderful job making sure he got something tasty. The pork belly buns were amazing as was the Shank. Two of my friends had the sausage platter and two others had the duck. Everyone was pleased. My only complaint was that with the meat and cheese board, the servings of meat was very generous while the cheese was skimpy. For $42, it was a bit disappointing. Otherwise, outstanding! I'll definitely be back.
We ordered the sausage sampler and the full rack of miso ribs with a side of roasted mushrooms. The sausage sampler came with a boudin noir sausage paired with apple jam and reduced onions, andouille sausage with pickles, and the frankfurter with brown mustard and pickled cauliflower. All three were great sausages on their own but the pairings weren't exactly balanced. The miso ribs were slightly under seasoned but was still a great rack of ribs regardless. The ribs easily pulled apart from the bones cleanly and contained a small smoke ring when cutting into the rack. The fries were also excellent; although they could have used more salt, they had a crunchy exterior and were well seasoned. The pickles and coleslaw may be a bit sour depending on each individual's taste but we're right up my alley. Surprisingly, the roasted mushrooms were the best part of the meal. The duck fat was an excellent way to offset the meaty taste of the mushrooms, the bread crumbs also was a great counter consistency to the mushrooms. Atmosphere and service were also great. Only reason I wouldn't give it 5 stars was the under seasoning of the ribs. Overall, would definitely recommend to someone.
Our server Billy was awesome and recommended several delicious appetizers, drinks and entrees. Overall, great experience and everyone in our group of 4 enjoyed their dishes.
Would recommend to anyone looking for an upscale ($$$) restaurant in DC who enjoys pork in all shapes and sizes.
Food was so incredibly good as were the cocktails (they make a great manhattan as well as old fashioned) We tried the face bacon and French onion soup as appetizers and both get an A. The miso ribs and pork shank are great as well. Service was very attentive. Would definitely go back.
You can't go wrong getting a pork dish here. I had the pork cheeks with parsnip puree and it was very rich, but delicious. My friends had the mussels, shrimp and grits, and ribs. They all enjoyed them. We started out with the baked brie, which was very yummy, but does not come with enough bread (they gave us more, but not the kind that the brie was served with.) Service was good! He knew when to check in on us and when to leave us alone, which was great. All and all, great place for a warm comfort food meal.
We had reservations for 5:00pm. We were seated promptly as the restaurant was empty. We ordered by 5:10pm and by that time the restaurant started filling up. We did not get our food until 5:55pm. The portions were very small. The drinks were watered down. Overall, the service was awful and food was great but not worth the $160 that i spent for 2 people.
“The Pig” was an absolutely incredible find! Terrific ambience, fantastic food, and a truly amazing menu of whiskey selections. Lauren and Sierra were wonderful servers - and phenomenally accommodating to our large party. Great recommendations and attentiveness.
My friend and I had a lovely time at the Pig. We shared the Venison main dish and the truffle mac and cheese. The venison was spectacular - cooked beautifully and with the most delicious sauce. Ambience was great. We were there a Sunday evening, so it was rather quiet.
This is a kid friendly restaurant, and we had a fun dinner with 4 adults and one baby. Our only complaint was that they didn't have any pork chops on the menu. Which seemed strange, for a restaurant named The Pig. We had ribs, I had duck (delish), and the sliders and brussel sprouts, plus more, but we wanted chops.
Great food and atmosphere!! Our party of four had the Big Pig Sampler, Garlic Shrimp and Pork Belly, Trough Burger, Ribs and Porchetta. Throw in the awesome side of Brussel Sprouts and good micro-brew drafts and it was a great choice for dinner. We were in town for the Capitals vs. Wild game, but the dinner at The Pig Was worth the trip all on its own....we will be back!!
