Been going there for years. Always great food, excellent salad bar and always very good and friendly service. Best margaritas in town.
Looking at the reviews of this restaurant and some feedback from a personal friend, I thought it would be better than we experienced. Overall, it was okay and the pricing was very fair. They have a good large, salad bar and my scallop dinner was good. My wife had the pork sambuco which she said tasted fine. However, upon eating it, it became evident that there was very little meat and the majority was fat and grisel. When we told the waitress about it she said that was just the way it was. She said she checked with the chef as well. We felt we should have gotten another serving or not had to pay for it as it was mostly unedible. We should probably have complained to the manager as we were so turned off by the way the waitress and chef handled the situation. Never-the-less we didn't. Overall, we felt that the restaurant was over rated and while the food was okay the overall experience was just average and not worth a return trip.
The biggest problem only it was our reservations were 45 minutes be on our time. And with three young kids started to get a little testy
We made reservations. This was a great experience. I’m glad I had read some reviews of what the inside looked like. The service was great. The salad bar was good. The meal was excellent. I had prime rib, it just melted in my mouth. My husband had the rib eye steak and it was great also. It’s definitely on our list of restaurants.
The salad bar was great and the steaks and shrimp were both very good, but we were three ladies dining and we felt like our waitress Tammy took us for granted because we didn’t have males with us. She failed to tell us about the specials for the evening and wasn’t as attentive to us as she was to tables with males. Shame on her, our tips reflected her lack of attentiveness, and we are all really good tippers for good service!
Salad & soup bar very good. Prime rib excellent. Bar service only fair. Served a cosmo in a water glass, no ic. Did not ask if we wanted it up or we n the rocks. Drink mediocre.
My husband had not been to the Pewter Mug but he loved the service and the food. He said we would definitely be back.
Outstanding prime rib and filet mignon and excellent value since entrees include extensive salad bar ( which is very fresh) and soup bar., as well as a choice of a side. There did seem to be shortage of waitstaff and hostess-- we waited about 10 minutes until hostess came to greet us. This was our second visit ( took out of town family who raved about the Prime Rib) and we will plan to dine here again. I hope they sort out the shortage of waitstaff.
Love the salad bar. Excellent food and service.
Very disappointed in the Food and Service. First Service, it took over 30 minutes to get our cocktails and when they came two were incorrect and we waited 10 minutes longer. The food was not tasty. Three of us ordered the Pork Osso Bucco and it was tasteless and not hot. The other meals were okay. Just not a good get together.
This is old school restaurant....been around for years...little has changed since the first time I was there in the 70's. We have consistently gotten a good meal there.
Great steak. Friendly service.
Prime Ribs, Filets and Salad Bar was very good
Had a reservation but still waited too long if a table
This restaurant offers value for ample portions of good food (steaks, chops, chicken and fish) served hot. It also features a great salad bar with fresh soups. The wine list offers value versus a well stocked cellar. Reasonably priced compared with other newer local Steak and Seafood restaurants. The bar and dining room decor is a throwback to the 70's and 80's without a lot of ambiance. We had no problem getting a reservation on short notice bar and dining room our Friday evening meal after 7:30 pm
This is an old school, casual steakhouse. Prime rib was great! We sat at the bar. The service was excellent. All you can eat salad bar was good. I usually dont like pre-made buffet salads (like macaroni, beet or broccoli) but those were all really good as well.
Hostess failed to tell friends we were meeting that we had arrived. In fact told them they did not have a reservation under my name. After waiting half an hour, I went to hostess stand to inquire & my friend happened to see me from their seat in the bar. Annoyed at hostesses (there were 2) to say the least!
Soup/salad bar was good but my entree was not. Others enjoyed the prime rib & beef stroganoff.
We enjoyed our evening. The food was great - rather salad bar is fresh and good as usual and my beef was tender and medium rare as usual. The staff were friendly and helpful.
We have been to the Pewter Mug several times and have always enjoyed our meal. We order get the prime rib cooked medium rare, blackened and grilled. In the past, it's been cooked perfectly. This time, my meat was served medium well. Instead of immediately offering to take back my meal and have it redone, the waitress made excuses and argued with me about how hard it is to have a blackened, grilled prime rib cooked to medium rare. (As I mentioned, it's never been a problem in the past. I'm not saying we won't go back, but this visit was disappointing at best.
My prime roast was delicious, but my husband ordered well done and his was med rare, he asked for it to be cooked more, it was taken and returned in 5 min leaving me to think it went to the microwave. He said his was not good. The decor is very old and tired. Salad bar and soup were excellent.
Our table was ready for our 6:15 reservation. The wait staff was very gracious and efficient. The salad bar was terrific, as usual. This restaurant is a terrific place to dine.
Honored reservation on time, great friendly service, excellent quality
My wife and I go here for special occasions - birthday, this time. We absolutely love their rib eye steaks and salad bar. The service is always excellent and we always leave thinking of the next time we'll go. We dine out almost every day for lunch, but the Pewter Mug is one of our favorites for dinner.
We went for dinner and were not disappointed. The prime rib was excellent! Juicy and tender. My date had the half chicken and it was super moist and he loved the glaze. As always the salad bar had fresh ingredients for a super salad and two choices for soup.
It’s been excellent for the 45 years I’ve dined out-
VERY OUTDATED!! Hostess YELLED name at top of her voice when table was ready!!
Definitely need to work on getting people at the hostess stand that are more
professional and MUCH calmer voice wise. Food was outstanding and has been
ever since Jim Keiser was the owner which has been years ago.
Cards group getting together. Only problem was Open Table would only seat 2 (when we needed 5) with change number button not working on line. Pat Murphy was the Super Server for several tables tonight. (And he mixed a tantalizing Lemon Drop Martini!)
They gave a fabulous soup and salad bar room. Great variety.
As always delightful
The food at the Pewter Mug is a very good value. Their salad bar has such a large variety of items.
Our waiter was really hustling to bring out the dishes on time. Our only criticism is that the restaurant is old and tired , out of the 70’s. Maybe a good coat of white paint and a new rug would brighten up the place.
