This was one of my most favorite tea experiences in New York City. The quality of the teas was very high and the food was extremely delicious.
Nessa such a lovely and elegant event. The wait staff was lovely and the food was divine. Really nice for a special occasion!
Dear A, Thank you for your kind feedback and rating us a 5 with Food, Service and "really nice for special occasion!". Most appreciated. We value your patronage and appreciate your confidence in us. Counting you among our guests is something for which we are especially grateful. The Pembroke Room.
Afternoon tea at The Pembroke Room was absolutely lovely! I went with my two adult daughters to celebrate the youngest's birthday. The room is beautiful and the ambiance quiet and relaxed. The service was excellent. We were especially pleased that the patronage was quite diverse. They gifted the birthday girl a small box of macaroons which made the experience extra special.
The tea sandwiches, scones and pastries were excellent. The price for afternoon tea is steep, but not atypical for NYC 5-star hotel tea experiences and the amount of food given (with free extras upon request) makes this a good value. They don’t have an outstanding tea selection, however. No white or red teas. Also, the dining room is a little crowded with 4 tables pushed almost together in the center of the room and could use a facelift.
A lovely splurge to make a special day particularly special.
Dear VictoriaS, thank you for your kind feedback and sharing your experience with us. We are delighted to hear that we meet your expectations and made you and your guests feel special during your visit. We hope to welcome you again very soon. Warmly, The Pembroke Room
Tea at the Pembroke is a special delight. The tea service is elegant, the staff is knowledgeable, the food is delicious.
A lovely, elegant afternoon tea, with amazing service. I found The Pembroke Room from reviews online. It was described as a hidden jewel, which I can whole-heartedly confirm. Only two tables were occupied for afternoon tea on this Wednesday in September, but the service and food was impeccable. The sandwiches and sweets were delicious, and the scones were among the best I have had; a thin, crispy crust, and lovely, light, fluffy and warm interior. The tea itself was of high quality, as well was the champagne (optional). Highly recommended, if you prefer a more quiet and secluded afternoon tea.
The best afternoon tea in terms of the taste of the food! Each bite I had was so delicious! The service was excellent, deserving 5 stars up until one of the servers intruded on our personal space, giving unsolicited advice about what we should eat, which changed our mood, thus the 4 stars.
The space itself is small, and the air conditioner was too loud.
Still, I recommend the Pembroke Room for the food. It was the first time that we had a complete meal, where the sandwiches, desserts, scones, and coffee/tea all tasting very delicious.
Very much enjoyed a wonderful afternoon with a dear friend from Australia and we both had a wonderful time thank you. The staff was very educated also on the various rare teas offered as well and helpful through out our visit. Highly recommend.
Thoroughly enjoyable. The room itself is elegant and intimate. The finger sandwiches were delicious, and the desserts were just the right side. I was a bit disappointed in the scones. They were very small and hard, and because they are served from a basket, it took more than an hour before they came to the table. Overall, the experience was lovely though expensive.
Dear Anne, thank you for your kind review and feedback. Most appreciated. I am really sorry to hear about the scones and we will address it timely. We traditionally serve the scones warm as a second step of service. At first, we serve the famous three tier silver tray with English sandwiches, Petits Fours, assorted pastries and macaroons. Then, we serve the scones last with Devonshire cream, Rose Marmalade, Orange Marmalade. Once again, thank you for your patronage. Eric D. The Pembroke Room
The hotel is fabulous, however the brunch was not! There were two little flies continuously flying around our brunch the whole time.
I also requested (twice) to have my friend surprised for his birthday but things didn't go as planned.
Brunch options are limited. Afternoon tea is a better option.
Again the hotel is fabulous and you can have a proper conversation in a fancy set up (hopefully you won't get the flies!)
Cozy setting for excellent afternoon tea. Professional and courteous service. Recommendations on tea pairings were very helpful.
Four friends traveling to New York to celebrate two August birthdays decided to have afternoon tea at The Pembroke.
The service was not good. The food was also not good. There were little bugs flying around.
Each person in the party also received multiple debit/credit card charges after being billed incorrectly. I would not recommend The Pembroke for afternoon tea.
Very disappointing considering The Lowell is ranked one of the top hotels in New York.
I have to take some blame because this place is somewhere I never would have gone had I put in some research beyond the menu. I felt like we were in an old age home that was decorated for a country club or some sort of royalty. We were the only ones eating in the entire place for 80% of the meal. Fruit flies buzzed around the two of us - trying to escape (As were we without feeling terrible!) My wife and I each ordered a standard breakfast and juice and it was $100. We laughed at how absurd the whole breakfast was - so it was memorable and an unfortunate memory that we were able to have a sense of humor about. If you want to pretend you are Donald Trump for a day and eat an over-priced meal in a really high posh setting - this is for you!
What a lovely afternoon spent with my mom enjoying the Classic afternoon tea. We especially enjoyed the oatmeal-raisin scones with lemon curd and Devonshire cream, as well as the lobster salad on brioche and smoked salmon on pumpernickel. The service and hushed ambiance were just perfect for an afternoon retreat from the city bustle.
Lovely afternoon tea...gracious service, delicious food and great ambience ...highly recommended!!
I went there to celebrate birthday with my mom and we had amazing experience !!
I would recommend to anyone who is looking for a good quality afternoon tea.
Tea at The Lowell...a classic. Excellent service in a beautifully appointed room. The tea sandwiches were traditional and excellent, the scones were very good, but the high point were the sweets. A tiny pistachio eclair, wee bites of carrot cake, chocolates mousse cups, and a large Laduree rose/raspberry macaron topped with a red rose petal WITH TINY SUGAR DROPS OF DEW. Just exquisite.
Such a lovely place. Small and quaint but large enough to not feel cramped. The finger foods were delightful and the tea was delicious. I loved the fact that we each got our own flavorful teas for no extra fees. Our server was lovely as well. I would say that the decor could possibly use some updating. But no other complaints at all!!
Very lovely brunch the service is impeccable. The food is delicious and so elegantly presented.
Enjoyed it very much. Atmosphere was nice. Waiters were attentive. Tea selections were pretty good, although they were out of their white tea. Sandwiches and sweets were all delicious.
Amazing food, tea, and service. Thank you so much for making my mom’s birthday so nice!
Had the classic afternoon tea and ordered vegetarian for my mom and self. The sandwich selections were very good, as were the sweets, though the scones were a bit on the dry side. The service was very friendly and accommodating. The interior was a little old fashioned and stuffy, but the terrace looked quite lovely - if only hadn’t been cold and rainy out! Someone had a baby, which I don’t think should be allowed at any classic afternoon tea establishment - there are many tea places that cater to young children specifically, why ruin the pleasantness at a more mature venue?
Never went. After making reservation for Mother’s Day, was contacted by restaurant advising that only a prix fixe menu would be available (which was much more expensive than their a la carte menu and not advertised on their website) and they wanted a credit card to hold the reservation. I expressed my disappointment that they were price gouging their clientele on Mother’s Day.
The wait staff were amazing. The tea was great, the food was a bit stale and underwhelming.
Afternoon tea was a special treat with my young adult daughter. The dining room is intimate, beautifully decorated and has a cozy feeling. We felt very comfortable and were treated with great courtesy by Mohammed, our server. He was very attentive, personable and professional. This is a pricier afternoon tea and it did not disappoint. The offerings were beautifully presented and delicious. I would return and would hope Mohammed would be our server.
This is a wonderful place for afternoon tea. They did a pretty good job accommodating a gluten allergy and there tea options are great.
Lovely little place for an intimate breakfast, the perfect location to ask my future mother-in-law permission to marry her daughter
Amazing staff! They were attentive, patient, and friendly. We had a wonderful afternoon tea which included a fairly large selection of tea (both pots we had were good) and more than enough food (everything was good except for slightly dry bread). I would highly recommend the afternoon tea here, the experience is wonderful.
To anyone thinking of doing High Tea in NYC, this is hands down the BEST location I’ve found. It’s fancy without being pretentious. The sandwiches and deserts are perfectly curated. The staff is friendly, thoughtful, and knowledgeable. There was never a point where I felt rushed. It was the perfect afternoon setting to see and celebrate my two friends.
Loved it! Went there for a birthday and they made the birthday girl feel really special. The food is generally good and surprisingly filling. The lemon curd for the scones is delicious!
What on earth has happened to the Pembroke Room at The Lowell? I hadn't been there for a few years and was truly dismayed at how far they've fallen! There was no one to greet us when we arrived at the entrance to the Pembroke Room. After standing at the entrance for over ten minutes, we finally stopped a waiter and asked if anyone could show us to a table. He pointed to an empty table and said "sit there". The room was empty...not another sole in the place...yet we waited 15 minutes for a waiter who took our order and got mine wrong. There was NO ONE in the room for our entire meal, including NO wait staff checking on us. After about an hour had gone by, several waiters entered the room and began setting up lamps on the tables, clearly irritated that we were dining at one of the tables. After we completed our meal and asked for our check, we waited another 15 minutes before anyone brought it to us. Upon paying and leaving, we couldn't find anyone to tell us where our coats had been stored. We finally opened every door in the hallway until we found our coats. When we left via the main lobby, we thanked the staff behind the registration desk...and of course, NO response. What a shame...this used to be a secret jewel in NY's crown. Now it's just another over-priced rip off.
Lovely tea. Very sweet and attentive servers, wonderful selection of tea. The only reason it doesn't get five stars is that the food and desserts served were good but not great. The scones were great and if I'd just had scones, cream, jam and tea this would have been a total 5 star review. I would definitely go again.
Just a superb and well served bunch.
Went there for brunch. Such a beautiful restaurant! Food was amazing! Will definitely go back...
Afternoon Tea was really a nice time. Room was nicely set up and the staff was very attentive. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a good afternoon tea experience
Afternoon tea is exceptional. Delicious warm scones & several jam options. They were very accommodating for food allergies. The tea selection is diverse and the menu is delightfully delicious. The banquette seating is best. Excellent detailed service.
A wonderful indulgence. My sister and I enjoyed the cozy yet plush atmosphere. It was a relaxing and delicious get-together. We also enjoyed the festive holiday decor along with our glass of bubbly rose. The scones were exceptional.
Afternoon Tea was very good, but scones we served very late in our opinion & they weren’t very warm.
