Nice spot for afternoon tea.
It is a wonderful cozy room. The tea itself was wonderful. The order of the food is strange as scones are given after the savory sandwiches.
I do not need to go back ever again, have had tea in many other places in NY City and I do not feel this is worth 75 dollars. Go at your own risk.
A wonderful birthday celebration at afternoon tea. Service and food were very good. The ambience can’t be beat. I have to say it was one of the most relaxing and pleasant birthday celebrations I’ve ever had. Thanks to your hostess for making me feel extra special!
A perfect tea for my birthday weekend The service was impeccable
Service was outstanding food was good enjoyed everything. Waffles fresh whipped cream sausages coffee the table setting outstanding.
We celebrated my daughter's 20th birthday with afternoon tea. The room was pretty, the service was impeccable, and the food was simply wonderful! Try the rose petal jelly on the scones made by a retired employee. I bought 3 jars to take home. They also gave my daughter a box of 6 macarons for her birthday. A lovely experience!
Afternoon tea at the Pembroke Room was absolutely lovely! The service was attentive and warm, the sandwiches and delicacies were outstanding and the entire afternoon, spent with a dear friend to celebrate her birthday (which was acknowledged with a complimentary gift of boxed macarons), was so memorable and special. The Lowell is my favorite NYC hotel and the Pembroke Room tea experience only matched the high standards for which The Lowell is known.
A wonderful and secret find to take my American hosts for afternoon tea in the centre of NYC. Great service, ambiance & food in a delightful hotel. A tea to remember.
We've done the Afternoon tea a few times. It is a nice place, great service. Unfortunately there were 3-4 newborns in the restaurant which is always a bit annoying when you want to relax with your $400 tea & scones.
I have enjoyed brunch and tea with my family and friends at the Pembroke Room many times and would absolutely recommend! It is a gem of the Upper East Side. Don’t leave without trying the worlds best scones!
Lowell has the best High Tea! Tea sandwiches were great as always! Scones outstanding! I have been here several times & will keep going back! Service is excellent! Food is great! Take anyone here they will be impressed! Love the quaint feeling in the room. Lovely boutique hotel!
Afternoon tea at the Lowell was a wonderful experience.. such a lovely hotel with a warm and inviting bar area where you can relax before the tea, and the tearoom itself was so elegant yet cozy. The staff were so attentive, and the sandwiches and desserts were delicious! I would highly recommend tea here.. it was one of the best we’ve ever had.
Dear Kathleenm, We value your patronage and appreciate your confidence in us. Counting you among our guest in The Pembroke Room is something for which we are especially grateful. Happy New Year 2020 and Thank you for a 5 Star rating and great feedback. I am glad we created memories and made your experience memorable. Most appreciated.
We went for afternoon tea with several of our son's friends, including meeting the new girlfriend. The dining room is absolutely lovely, but IT IS NOT ACCESSIBLE. It is on the 2nd floor with no guest elevator. There is a tiny service elevator, but you need to climb over piles of supplies to get to it. If you're in a wheelchair, fuggedaboutit.
Our server was not a native English speaker. I don't know if this is the case across the board, but we had some communications issues. One particular example was the server referring to the "high tea" options. What the Lowell serves is "afternoon tea," not high tea.
Curiously while we specifically made the reservation for tea and the table was set with teacups and strainers, they left non-tea accoutrements on the table like bread plates and butter knives. This created problems later when there wasn't enough room on the table for the sweets tiered tray.
As for the food, there were a few standouts and several disappointments. Among the savories,, the lobster on brioche was spectacular. My wife liked the smoked salmon; me not so much. The cucumber sandwich was nothing to write home about.
The sweets were pretty impressive. The chocolate mousse was amazing; the pumpkin eclairs a waste of calories. Another hit was the red velvet petit four. The scones were pretty tasty. But they were the size of a quarter, and we were each given one. As the signature dish of an English afternoon tea, it was unfortunate that we needed to ask for a second round of these mini scones. Even worse was the attitude of the server when we did.
All in all, it was an okay afternoon tea. Frankly we have yet to find an afternoon tea in the States that holds a candle to the ones we've had in London. But, frankly, at $100+ per person, this one is a real waste of time.
Took my daughter for afternoon Tea to celebrate her birthday. I wanted the experience to be fun and special and it certainly was!!! The staff, food, decor and ambiance was fantastic! We were treated like VIP guests and it was the best decision to celebrate at the Lowell hotel’s Pembroke Room. I highly recommend this wonderful and enjoyable afternoon high tea experience. You will be extremely impressed with everything!
The ambiance is very nice and perfect for afternoon tea. Unfortunately our service was less than ideal, 3/4 of the way through the service we still had not gotten served our tea and when it finally made it to the table we were told it still needed more time. The other tables seemed to get their tea immediately after ordering, after all our food had been served we were still without tea. The food was delicious.
I take my mom for tea every Christmas - each year to a different place. The Pembroke is supposed to be one of the best, but we found it to be completely disappointing and nowhere near worth the cost. The food was mediocre. The service, horrible. Definitely the most overrated afternoon tea we’ve ever had.
Fabulous experience as usual. The food, teas, champagne and room are excellent.
Dear marie, In this time of gratitude, we give thanks for you. We value your patronage and appreciate your confidence in us. Counting you among our guest in The Pembroke Room is something for which we are especially grateful. Happy Holidays. Thank you for your great feedback. Most appreciated
Long time customers and fan of The Lowell Hotel. It's our favorite hotel in New York filled with all the charm and comforts of a London townhouse. Feels like being in a great old London home. The Pembroke Room was beautiful setting for traditional Afternoon Teas service. Everything was good old-fashioned quality however have to say portions could have been more generous for the price.
I have been taking my daughter for tea during the Holiday season for 15 years. The Pembroke Room is a special place for us. The ambiance is cozy and sophisticated and the service is excellent!
Nice breakfast in a fairly quiet refined atmosphere
Beautiful room. Terrific service. Mohammed and Mariem were wonderful. Making it part of my Holiday tradition
Great for breakfast.
Excellent service, ambience and food. Enjoyed our tea.
A wonderful place to have a Christmas tea in a lovely, quiet, gracious room in a beautiful boutique hotel. Food, service and ambience were outstanding.
Visiting from AZ we thoroughly enjoyed everything about the tea.
What a classy and cozy little restaurant! The hotel was beautiful, the food was delicious, the scones were warm, and staff was so kind. I hope to come back soon!
The service was rushed, the wait staff gave the impression they did not want to be there, the sandwiches were extremely skimpy ( I have been to many teas so understand tea sandwiches are small but these were really small) and tasted as if they were made hours ago. If the Lowell wants to do tea correctly they should call Claridges for a few tips. Not worth the time or money!
I felt that the amount of sandwiches were very small for the price.
It was nice to bring more scones...
But the price of 100 is a lot for some sandwiches, a few desserts and scones. the glass of bubbly should be included in this case...
Atmosphere is lovely but the price is too high for what you get.
Loved everything about it except one thing. There was a table of 9 ladies next to us. They were talking very loudly the entire time we were there and we couldn’t even hear each other and enjoy a nice, quiet tea.
Apparently they have different chefs during the week, the pancakes (which we always come for) were terrible.
Have fined here many times. Always perfect!
Great brunch place for a group. Wonderful food and great selection of food, teas etc...
Great experience for high tea. Lovely and attentive service, delicious food.
Afternoon tea at the Pembroke Room is the perfect way to spend an afternoon with a special friend. A memorable experience for someone who delights in the finest afternoon teas.
A beautiful place for tea. Upon entering the Lowell you are greeted with a small elegant lobby fragrant with orchids. The Pembroke room is plush and cozy with beautiful decor and perfect lighting with a glittering city view through its two windows.
The tea is just about perfect; you are served with grace and interest in your comfort and wellbeing. Therea good selection of teas and if you like, classic wines. I subtracted a star because the scones have gotten a little smaller this year. However the pretty sandwiches and desserts were of a high standard and delicious, best quality. You feel like a queen..
High tea food was disappointing, very sparse for the price. Quality not the best, finger sandwiches were tiny, the bread was dried out. Pastries we’re uninspiring, limited selection of pastries, “ orange glaze for the fall” Families with infants an toddlers.
Service very good.
The service was excellent and the presentation and quality was top notch. It was the perfect ambiance and setting for a tea room and worth every penny.
Most amazing afternoon tea menu and service in New York City!
Went for afternoon tea and it was lovely; however, open table will let you make a reservation all day but tea starts at 2pm
