This is the second time I've gone to The Peasantry and I really don't know why I don't go more often! The food and service are impeccable, I cannot remember our waiter's name but he was such a lovely man and gave us an enjoyable experience. The brunch cocktails were delicious and the food was ever impressive. We had a group of 8 and everyone enjoyed themselves and their food.

We went on a Tuesday night, which isn't really fair. There were two tables filled when we sat down a little after 7, and maybe six when we left an hour later. So the place lacked energy. The food was very good. My salmon was juicy and sweet, my wife's pork chop a little chewy, maybe, but still good flavor. The prices were surprisingly low. The service was attentive in a slow-night kind of way. The no-flour chocolate cake for dessert was killer good; if there hadn't been witnesses, I would have order four or five more. I'd go there again, but a little later or on a weekend. I know that doesn't have much to do with the restaurant, and this kind of thing drives hard working restaurateurs a little nuts. But that's the experience we had.

This small restaurant is a gem in the Lincoln Park neighborhood. Food is fresh, interesting and tasty and the drinks are very good. I like their flank steak for dinner and for brunch there are many superb options with eggs. The best creme brulee in the City. Friendly and attentive service and cozy decor. This restaurant has become my favorite closeby place. I have eaten there with my family many times and now I am introducing it to my friends. Make a reservation for weekend brunch.

I have been on a quest to find excellent restaurants in the Lakeview neighborhood. I want to discover that neighborhood gem that boasts exceptional cuisine at reasonable prices -- someplace that I can become a regular at. I need look no further. The only thing better than the service is the food. I enjoyed a tasty shrimp succotash and wellington. Expertly cooked; wonderfully flavored. The cocktails offer a combination of both interesting and familiar. Unlike the food which is economically priced, a cocktail will cost you the going $12 restaurant average. The Manhattan is worth ordering. This time next week, I'll be back.

Food was decent but not great, would not recommend. Service was fine but a 20% tip is included regardless of how many people are in your party so the waitresses are more lax about checking in on you. Bloody Mary's are bomb though

We got the tuna tartar which was a board special and it was excellent. Also got the chickpea fritters, which were just ok. Got the burger with bone marrow, which was very good. Also got the arrancini - I didn't like it at all, but my bf did. The pinot noir from Willamette Valley was excellent. Very casual place - nice for a quick bit after the movies.

This was a nice cozy dinner. The staff really took care of us with warm friendly service and good recommendations. They recommended the ceviche special and it was wonderful. I personally loved the brussel sprout salad it was my favorite part of the meal for me. My girlfriend really dug the pork tenderloin which was perfectly cooked. I loved the decor of this restaurant it was soft and warm and inviting. The beverage menu was really wonderful as well. Some intriguing cocktails that we didn't have a chance to try but they have some really nice beers and wines to offer. Overall I recommend this place for anyone in the neighborhood looking for a relaxed lovely meal.

I met a friend for Sunday brunch. He ordered an omelette with potatoes. He finished every bite and said it was very good. I had the pork belly Benedict. It was good, but I felt the potatoes were flat on flavor. Our waitress told us it was her second day. She seemed frazzled but she did a very good job. I thought it was strange that they included gratuity to a check for 2. It's fine, but I haven't had that happen before with a small party. I would like to try again and try something else on the menu. Fun atmosphere. Great location. Good service.

Found this while looking for a restaurant to celebrate my birthday and it was amazing! They turned down the AC for us because we were wet from rain. They also turned down the volume on the music because my mom was having trouble hearing. The food was outstanding and the desserts were amazing-especially for the price. The waiter also gave me a free dessert for my birthday with a candle and gave my mom a free glass of champagne because her birthday was a few days later.

I believe we were waited on by the owner and he was lovely. However, after a morning of the Lincoln Park Zoo 5k, we had a reservation for 6 and it felt as if this was very unexpected. One of the food runners even apologized because we were such a large party ( were we? is 6 large?). The food was okay, overpriced, and took a very long time. Additionally, every check has a 20% gratuity automatically added to the bill, unfortunately in my opinion this leaves very little incentive for good service... all in all, I wouldnt go back but they had some interesting food choices on the menu.

The Peasantry is easily one of my favorite restaurants in the city. I have never been disappointed. The food is always unique and tastes amazing. The menu changes seasonally so you're never bored! The service is attentive and friendly but does not interupt your socializing. The drinks selection is also unique. I just love this place, I can't say enough about it and am always raving to my friends about it.

1st impression was not good at all. Hostess kept going back & forth between her tablet and paper list of reservations when I clearly made one on OpenTable. Instead of wondering what happened, why don't you just seat your guests instead of spending awkward time by the door? Food was tasty and perfectly made. Automatic gratuity for a party of 4? It's a shame, since I always leave 20% but since you want to figure it out for me.....

We recently moved to Lincoln Park and found this neighborhood restaurant. We loved it! The food was fantastic, and the cocktails were interesting and made with some very cool different vodkas and gins. It was a little more casual than I thought it would be, but we will definitely come back, it is so convenient and the food is delicious. Plus they have a full vegetarian menu!

After walking by many times, decided to come here with my mom when she was visiting because it's more expensive than my usual budget can afford. We went on a Friday night around 6:45pm and it became about half full while we were there. The service was prompt and friendly, but slightly strange. The food was good, but we thought overpriced. Would recommend the salmon, but not the beef, which is surprising because the premise of the restaurant is locally-raised meat dishes. The atmosphere was nice, but too many other great restaurants nearby so likely will not come back.

First of all I usually prefer wine over cocktails, but I had the most amazing bourbon drink here. It's not on the menu online so they must have a few specialty drinks each day. The risotto was fantastic, absolutely perfect preparation. We had six in our party at 8:00 on a Friday night and didn't have much trouble making the reservation. Cozy atmosphere and our service was outstanding! Super friendly and delicious.

As someone who regularly goes out for Sunday breakfast/brunch I enjoy a comfortable place with good food. The Peasantry had the good food, but the young hip crowd that seemed to be there just to be there, and anxious waitstaff and overpriced coffee $2.50 per cup took the comfort level down quite a bit.

Every egg at our table was overcooked. We had a table of 12 and everyone at the table had a dish that was to include a poached egg. These eggs were not runny but gellified inside. For those who ordered the eggs benedict, this was very disappointing as a main factor in any benedict is to have that egg ooze over the food. As a "foodie" that was the biggest disappointment.

The condescending, disrespectful management made for an atrocious brunch experience. It's actually laughable how they managed to turn a minor customer service opportunity into an uncomfortable situation. I ordered coffee. After a few sips, I asked for a warm up . I noticed the server adding to our order on her ipad, at which point I inquired if she was charging me for more coffee? She said "We don't have coffee. We have Americano, so yes, there's a charge for another cup." Oh, how simple it might have been for the owner, who took my "coffee" order, to say they don't have regular drip coffee, but would I like an Americano? But no, I did not order an Americano, and I certainly didn't want to pay for a second cup of something I didn't order in the first place. Long story slightly shorter: There was an unneccessary amount of back and forth. The server took the issue to the owner--a scowl on his face and rolling his eyes in my clear line of vision. They were adamant in their refusal to correct the situation. Eventually the server agreed to take the Americano off the bill and she removed my cup from the table. And yet, when the bill came, there was the charge for the drink (with an upcharge for soy milk). When I questioned the server, she said her manager would not let her take it off the bill "because I drank half of it." What?! You took removed my cup but charged me anyway? The manager came over with attitude--not to help smooth over the problem but to stand firm in her refusal. So delightful was she that she barked, "If you want to punish us, just don't tip the waitress." She turned her back and stormed off when I was mid-sentence. (If it matters, the food was sickeningly salty--actually inedible.) To note, after I paid the bill, the restaurant cancelled my OpenTable reservation, clearly anticipating a negative review. I contacted OpenTable to rectify the situation so I could review this unfortunate spot. Sorry, Peasantry, you can't undo abysmal service.

The Peasantry offers a sumptuous, though slim, array of options at the bridge between casual and fine dining. Each item on the menu appears to be thoughtfully constructed, and for an added bonus: recommended wine and beer pairings are offered with each food item. A good ambiance and not too crowded on a Friday evening, thought the tables could be spaced just a bit more apart. All in all a solid experience, and would happily return and recommend to friends.

The food is just that good. I can't stop thinking about the chicken pot pie-- absolute comfort food perfection. Hits all the right notes without being too heavy. My husband loved the pork tenderloin and the wines are thoughtfully chosen. Even our picky 6 year old devoured the macaroni and cheese. Service and ambiance don't really match the quality of the food, but the cooking is heavenly so it's ok!
