The Pearl Ratings and Reviews
Three of us ended up seated at a high top, first table by the door. A bit congested as people waited to be seated and a cold breeze each time the door opened. Not exactly what I expected with a reservation but worked out okay once the crowd died down.
Very good food, though the fish special was quite pricey and the included "sides" were smaller quantity than expected. However, still happy with the quality. And a LOT of selections that satisfied three very different palettes.
Waiter was very attentive, nice, and knowledgeable. He made the experience all the better.
Definitely will return. A nice birthday evening overall!
Have gone before and was very impressed with the food. We went for Sunday brunch and a couple of items were no longer available. Also, we ordered an appetizer that the waitperson forgot and brought after the meal. They did remove from bill without asking. Still, the food and drinks were quite good and I will go back
The Pearl is one of my favorite places in Columbus, but I never go for brunch. On Sunday we ordered the Chicken and Waffle and their version of Eggs Benedict. The Eggs Benny was pretty good but the Chicken and Waffle was bad. The waffle was very stale and bland, as if it was frozen before. Overall, I enjoyed being there for brunch, but the food was nowhere near as good as their dinner. I am unsure if I would return for Brunch.
Overall we had a great dinner at this place -good food and wine. Very friendly and good waiter at the table . not recommended for a romantic dinner thought as it was a very busy Saturday evening and VERY loud to the point that it was difficult to have a normal conversation at the table. really only negative note was that the entrance staff was not very friendly , while waiting for our table ( even with a reservation) we were told that we could order drinks at the bar while waiting but had to ask for the drink menu and then the bar tab couldn't be combined with the restaurants ' so we had to leave our credit card with the Bar staff for 10 mins while we finished the drinks which was awkward.
In Columbus for the OSU game and read about the great reviews. We had a 9:30 pm reservation (earliest available). We were seated about 25 minutes past our reservation time. The bar area was extremely crowded with people waiting for their tables. Once seated in the back room, our waiter was very attentive and the meal was served quite quickly. As an appetizer, we had the deviled eggs - excellent with a touch a spice to them. Attractively serviced on "hen scale". I had the flat iron steak with pineapple salsa - very good. My husband enjoyed the fish and chips - best he's had in a long time.
Friday night, holiday weekend at this popular place with early evening reservation (5:45p) for family of 4. Entry was filled with people with reservations. Waited 40 minutes for a high top table in the bar ( first available and we accepted). Hostesses were apologetic, provided two appetizers of our choice for the inconvenience. Mixed drinks from the bar and bar staff were excellent. Server (Eric) was excellent as well. Food was fantastic. Popular spot, they recognized the inconvenience and did what they could to get us seated and offer some food. We’ll certainly return to The Pearl!
Several of us went for my sister's birthday. We thoroughly enjoyed it! Two of had the oysters to rave reviews. Deviled eggs are very tasty with a hint of kick - horseradish? Clam chowder is one of the best I've had; walleye was also very good. Service was excellent.
We enjoy coming here especially if we can come for happy hour when we can experiment with some of the appetizers. Service this time was inexplicable. Our initial contact was delayed--- 10 minutes. Our server offered to bring a sample of a beer I wanted to try which I thought was nice, but then the sample took 10 minutes and then 10 more minutes at which point I flagged him down (literally) to order the beer. My spouse had received his cocktail long before. In the meantime other random people had brought our appetizers but he never returned for our order. It was then past happy hour but he did honor that price. We started to be worried about our theater tickets and told him when he finally returned for our order. He was galvanized and Our salad appeared within 5 minutes (of my beer) and our entree appeared 5 minutes after that with our bill. ("No rush"). The food was very good.
I live in Cleveland and my favorite restaurant is The Pearl. I have made trips to Columbus just to eat there. I have celebrated multiple birthdays and other events at that restaurant. It will forever hold a special place in my heart. I recommend it to everyone.
Everyone was so nice, energized, friendly. Brody our waiter was a gem, and was so attentive. The food was a perfect--and your chef went out of her way to help us. Problem is---which CM restaurant is our favorite---too many choices, not enough time!

The overall ambiance is great and the food is usually very good. On this night, the service was incredibly slow. Appetizers were forgotten and drinks took absolutely forever to get, at one point we cancelled a round as we were done eating for quite awhile and were waiting for our check (that we had to ask for). There was no acknowledgement from management and we were still charged for every single item on our $600 check, despite the long waits throughout the evening. The pearl is one of my favorite restaurants but this experience would not have me returning any time soon.
Made a reservation 2.5 weeks in advance for a birthday for my boyfriend. We had plans after the reservation and I gave us enough time to relax and enjoy dinner before we had to be at the next destination. When we arrived for our 6:15pm reservation we were told they were running 15 min behind. We waited over 20 min before we were actually sat at our table. Horrible experience and almost missed our next destination. I will never book here again.
The Pearl is one of our favorite restaurants in Columbus! Atmosphere is always fun, the food is fantastic, and the happy hour is always a good time. The wait staff are always friendly and knowledgeable. Love the Short Ribs and Beet Salad! Great Manhattan too!
Excellent experience. I was only in Columbus one night for a quick business trip. Used google to find a few suggestions, liked the look of The Pearl, so off I went. Greats cocktails at the bar followed by an excellent selection of dinner options. LOVED the teriyaki octopus and the shrimp and grits!! Probably can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Service was attentive and timely. Nothing negative to say.
Service was alright. Waiter was friendly but I would say helpful in description of menu items. Steaks were flavored very good. However they were not hot enough. My wife ordered medium well and it was closer to medium. I ordered medium and it was more like medium rare but that is ok with me. For the amount of time we waited for the food to arrive it should have been hottt. The broccoli was cold, the steak was cold, the baked potato was the hottest and still cold. We didn’t say anything to the manager or staff, well because we didn’t want a discount or free food. That and excuses is all we would of gotten. For the price it should have been better period.
We got there at 8:10 and they closed at 9 so I always kind of expect service to be a little slower when I get there that close to close. It took a little longer than normal to get drinks.
Since it took a while to get drinks we ordered our app and entrees at the same time. The lamb meatballs took forever and then the entrees came out about 2 min later. The meatballs tasted good and the radish and cucumber slices gave it a different texture but I'm not sure the three were worth $9.
My char had good flavor but the best part of the dish was the cauliflower purée. Not necessarily a bad think I guess. My gf got the fried chicken. It was really good. She didn't let me even try the green bean casserole so it must have been good too. It wasn't too sweet and I'm not one for seers so that worked out. The cinnamon bun it came with was really good too.
We had a gift card so at $40 I'm don't really have a reason to complain. If would have paid $90 after tax and tip I probably would have been a little disappointed.
