The Pearl Ratings and Reviews
It took a little while to be seated, despite my reservation. But once we were seated everything was great. Loved the tots, pickles (fried) and that sticky bun that came with the fried chicken plate was to die for!! Excellent service, even though our waitress seemed a little agitated when my friends asked her to split my bill between them. But overall, it was a great experience. Nice ambiance, great food! I will absolutely be returning. Oh, and the complimentary birthday dessert was great as well!
The food is the centerpiece. The menu is wide-ranging. The appetizers are varied, and you can make a meal out of them. The dinner selections are at a range of price points and types, but all are exceptionally well prepared. If you like a nice portion that tastes delicious, this is the right restaurant. The service has always been prompt and attentive. We ordered an item prepared different from the menu, and the answer was yes, and the preparation was spot-on. It is a noisy, high energy space, and is great for people watching. Highly recommended.
We had reservations for dinner on Friday. There was a bit of a delay in getting the table, but it wasn't too bad. The front of the restaurant was quite cramped, but for good reason. People want a good meal. Once we got past the waiting and past the crowd to our table, it was a great experience. It was much more quiet in the back of the restaurant, and our server was great (wish I could remember her name). The drinks came quickly and were delicious. My date had the southern fried chicken entree, and I stole half of his sticky bun, because it was that good. I ordered the Ricotta Dumplings. I was a bit surprised at how small the dish was, but it was surprisingly filling. Overall, it was a great experience, and we will be back.
We were sat 45 MINUTES LATE for a reservation that was supposed to be at 545....how are you that far behind before it's even 600? Needed to leave by 715 to make it to the symphony on time so we had to inhale dinner and rush out the door. Appears we weren't the only ones affected since their anemic waiting area was stuffed with other people being hopelessly delayed from their reserved time as well. The food is good, the waitress was kind and we tipped her well but it's very poor management of your restaurant when you have multiple tables waiting 45 minutes past their reserved time. In a town where there are so many fantastic options to spend your time and money, why go somewhere that doesn't value yours? Never going back, used to be one of our favorites.
My party had a great time @ The Pearl it was everyone's first time dining there prior to seeing Janet Jackson , we had limited time so we just had appetizers & cocktails, our cocktails were delicious as well as the smoked salmon but our wings were not the best they tasted of pre frozen & didn't have any flavor @ all & our waiters kept forgetting special requests but were very nice & attentive, but we all did agree we would come back for the full experience of an entree (steak) lol. Thank You!
I was very unimpressed with the restaurant and the food. Ordered the jalapeño corn spoon bread as a starter. While it had a nice flavor you would never know it had jalapeno's in it. So if you go and want/expect jalapeño flavor - pass. Did not order oysters and maybe that is what you need to order from this restaurant.
My Husband and I went to The Pearl with another couple before going to see The Christmas Carol. We have never been there so we were anxious to try it. Unfortunately we were all very disappointed in the whole experience. It was very loud. People were talking very loud in order to be heard which made it very loud in the resturant. The seating was tight and the food was not good. We won't be going back.
We were promptly seated for our 6:30 reservation the evening before Thanksgiving - glad we reserved early as they were packed by the time we left at 7:45 ish. My only recommendation is that the server explain each item on the Charcuterie plate - we totally missed that it was pate in the jar - thought it was mustard. Our waiter did ask if we wanted more bread for the pate but didn't realize what he was saying until he'd already taken the plate away. I highly recommend the clam chowder - home made, fresh & so delicious!
Three of us ended up seated at a high top, first table by the door. A bit congested as people waited to be seated and a cold breeze each time the door opened. Not exactly what I expected with a reservation but worked out okay once the crowd died down.
Very good food, though the fish special was quite pricey and the included "sides" were smaller quantity than expected. However, still happy with the quality. And a LOT of selections that satisfied three very different palettes.
Waiter was very attentive, nice, and knowledgeable. He made the experience all the better.
Definitely will return. A nice birthday evening overall!
Have gone before and was very impressed with the food. We went for Sunday brunch and a couple of items were no longer available. Also, we ordered an appetizer that the waitperson forgot and brought after the meal. They did remove from bill without asking. Still, the food and drinks were quite good and I will go back
The Pearl is one of my favorite places in Columbus, but I never go for brunch. On Sunday we ordered the Chicken and Waffle and their version of Eggs Benedict. The Eggs Benny was pretty good but the Chicken and Waffle was bad. The waffle was very stale and bland, as if it was frozen before. Overall, I enjoyed being there for brunch, but the food was nowhere near as good as their dinner. I am unsure if I would return for Brunch.
Overall we had a great dinner at this place -good food and wine. Very friendly and good waiter at the table . not recommended for a romantic dinner thought as it was a very busy Saturday evening and VERY loud to the point that it was difficult to have a normal conversation at the table. really only negative note was that the entrance staff was not very friendly , while waiting for our table ( even with a reservation) we were told that we could order drinks at the bar while waiting but had to ask for the drink menu and then the bar tab couldn't be combined with the restaurants ' so we had to leave our credit card with the Bar staff for 10 mins while we finished the drinks which was awkward.
