Been there many times in the past and it was excellent. This last visit only ordered
three appetizers and was not as good as the past. Crab bisque soup was watery and
the breaded calamari fell apart upon touch. The mussels were very good. Will go back
but just not what was expected because of past excellent dining experiences.
We have had dinner with friends and family several times now. Each visit has been a gastronomic experience, from the fried green tomatoes and pickled beets salad to the wasabi crusted big eye tuna and baseball steak. Each appetizer and meal has been a delightful and thoroughly delicious experience. On our most recent visit, the gouda grits and the brussels and prosciutto were the big hits. I heartily recommend The Pearl!
GREAT SERVICE AND FOOD WAS SPOT ON.....NICE/QUIET ATMOSPHERE....WILL GO AGAIN...
Great food, service and music !
Due to a 4-car accident on our way to the restaurant, we were delayed about 15 minutes from our reservation time. I did call to let them know we were delayed. Nevertheless, when we arrived the table we were to be seated at was no longer available to us. We were promptly sent to sit on the outdoor porch. There were plastic flaps but no heater. Needless to say, I was not dressed to eat dinner outside where it was quite chilly. We were told there was another reservation at our indoor "table" in 1 hour and 15 min. So, as it turned out, we ate and finished in 1 hour. It was absolutely unnecessary to have seated us outside in a penalty box. While our waiter was pleasant and the food was good, I will no longer eat at this restaurant and will be telling all my friends of this slight. I told our waiter that this would be our last dinner ever at the restaurant. No reaction. Goodbye The Pearl.
We were very hungry. The two appetizers were delicious: She Crab Soup and Crab Cakes. The entrees were Red Fish and an 18 oz Ribeye, yes pricey, but very good. My wife and I were especially grateful for the Pearl staff recognizing our anniversary. I wanted to sample Strawberry cake, but too full-no room.
Our group of six enjoyed Pearl’s food and service, which was very professional and unobtrusive. We will all come back. The only criticism is the high noise level. All the surfaces are stylish, but hard. It made conversation challenging for a group of six.
Delicious food. Must save room for the strawberry cake! Server was adequate though not very knowledgeable for the type of location. Study your menu...
Overall everything we very good. Steak was delicious and tender!
Great food and service.
Enjoyed our meal at The Pearl as always. Service was best described as slow but steady. We weren't offered any appertisers and drink orders were slow to be taken. Waiter also missed a part of my wife's order. That being said, once the orders were taken, everything that did show up showed up promptly and was excellent. Overall a very nice meal.
The steaks were great, cooked at the requested temperature and the side portions were large and taste was excellent. The service was set at perfect pace that we wanted. We definitely return.
Food and service is excellent. As the restaurant gets more and more crowded the noise levels rise and it is hard to hear and carry on a conversation
Food was excellent! Will definitely return when in the area.
Fried green tomatoes were delicious but my grouper has to go back because it was not prepared right the second time was delicious (the way I ordered it). Unfortunately I had to eat alone because everyone else was finished with their meals
Drinks, appetizer, entrees and dessert, everything was delicious!!!! The flavors, light yet lovely sauces, perfectly prepared and tender filet, fabulous grits, and I could go on and on! Our server was Blend and he was perfect! (One complaint - we were seated at the first table beyond the hostess and every time the door opened and closed, we froze! It was quite chilly that evening.). We will definitely be back and bring more friends! It was a delightful experience!! Thank you!
Favorite place in Bluffton for special occasion and excellent food
We enjoy the Pearl. Surprisingly full even at an early hour. Menu, service quality, and the bread offering all quite good. The live music guitar left much to be desired and front of room seating distracted a bit from the overall warm, friendly ambiance.
We went to The Pearl for my birthday and we were very impressed. The food was wonderful. I asked for my salmon done medium rare and it was perfect. My husband’s s allows were also done just right. The guitar player added to the ambience without being too loud. We will be back for another special occasion.
Good dinner date spot in Old Town, bar lighting a bit too bright for me but no other complains. Will go again
Good Food and a very reasonably priced wine list !
Another fabulous evening at our favorite restaurant. My husband and I celebrated our anniversary and we met with champagne and greeted by most of the staff. The food was amazing, the service is exceptional and the atmosphere is second to none!
Food was superb. Scallops were done to perfection. Chocolate torte was decadent. Nice selection of wines by the glass. Soft guitarist playing during dinner. Overall, a wonderful dinning experience. Would definitely return.
Heard so many great things about this restaurant that perhaps our expectations were unrealistic. The food was very good although the scallops were gritty and undercooked for me. Had a poor table and not impressed with the service which is the cause for the low rating. Prices were fine. We probably won’t be back.
Amazing food in a clean, simple, and elegant setting. Wonderful service and did I mention amazing food. We will definitely be back. Make sure to check it out!
Incredible dinner and desserts with friends. Our new favorite place near HHI!
This visit was not as good as usual for a restaurant that we really like a lot. Salmon was tasty but overcooked after we specifically asked for it to be rare to medium rare. My shrimp and crab piccata lacked some spices and was fairly bland. They have a reasonable wine list at good prices. It is nice they offer some live music, but I have to say this performer should have only played the guitar as singing was very poor - JMO. Service was good but not as good as we have had in the past. Seemed to be some commotion in the back as servers were discussing an issue and a shop vac could be heard. We will return as we have always had a great experience in the past so will not let one instance spoil a good thing.
The food and service were wonderful, but the price was higher than we would normally pay for a dinner out.
We had reservations for 2 weeks and still had to wait 20 minutes for our table. Bar area is extremely small and crowded and took a while to get a drink for our wait! Waitress was very friendly but did not check back with us enough (ran out of water and drinks). Ran out of creamer for dessert/coffee. Food was 5 star as always.
New Year’s Eve. A bit overextended compared to normal dinner nights
We have been to the Pearl several times and have never been disappointed. This time was New Years Eve and for such a hectic night when so many things can go wrong, we found nothing wrong with anything at the Pearl. We were extremely pleased with everything. The place was full, but the service was great and as usual, we were all pleased with our meals. One big improvement was the wine list. We plan to return more frequently.
New Year's Eve dinner at The Pearl is going to become a tradition! Every entre, appetizer and adult beverage was delicious and the service by Eric, outstanding. We'll be back and we won't wait until New Years!
We has dinner at the Pearl on New Years Eve. The service, ambiance, food were excellent for a very busy restaurant! Usually any restaurant on New Year's Eve is over crowded, under staffed and cooks are overwhelmed...not here! Perfection in all areas! What a please to dine there!
We were there on New Years Eve. We sat outside. The food was amazing the servers were great.
They could invest in some patio heaters 😉
Yes I would recommend the Pearl, as it has a fresh, trendy, Lowcountry decor and style, however if you go on a holiday and make reservations, list any special needs and call again, just to reiterate those and be sure they can truly accommodate them. The prices on the holiday menu were high considering the portion size, and The Pearl isn't a formal restaurant. There are side dishes of veggies for vegetarians or vegans, however the portion size of those side dishes should be much more generous, prep each side dish and then present them in full size, and please offer more vegetables, fruit, legumes and whole grains, a baked potato option or whole wheat pasta or rice or chick pea pasta could help, also Quinoi and Kale.
Always such a special time! Service and food were top-notch.
Loved the food! Apps, salads, and entrees were all delicious.
Always eat here on Christmas Eve since the choice is so limited on "real" restaurants that are open. The food and service is always good. This year they served the best sautéed spinach that I have ever had with the beef filet which was perfectly cooked. Awesome!
Drink prices too high. Food and service was great. .
