This is by far the best restaurant in Burnaby and one of the best French restaurant in Greater Vancouver. Food is great, service is top-notch, atmosphere is enjoyable. If you have a chance, please try the lobster cappuccino and the scallop risotto. They are great.

I can't remember the last time I was so impressed with a dining experience. Every plate had excellent flavors, mouthwatering presentation and arrived at the appropriate temperature.

Service was friendly, attentive and well paced. The atmosphere is intimate and relaxed.

In a time of mediocre fare delivered by corporate concepts and brands Pear Tree rises above and delivers a dining experience worthy of Fine, really fine!

Will return, highly recommended.

I don't usually comment on restaurants, but The Pear Tree truly wowed both of us. In an unassuming neighborhood, The Pear Tree was a quiet oasis with food that was fresh, vibrant, and delightfully presented. Servers seemed genuinely interested in caring for us, and supremely proud of their restaurant. Featured summer wine matched fish beautifully. Really couldn't have asked for more. Needs to be on every Vancouver foodie's must-visit list. (NB: We came as part of a day-long layover at YVR and will definitely do so again if the opportunity presents. Driving, allow 30 minutes each way from the airport.)

An excellent meal! Enjoyed the braised ribs and beef tenderloin in a lovely rich sauce. Hubby had the braised bison ribs which were really tasty. Great cocktails and an excellent creme brûlée. We weren't rushed at all; great pacing of the meal. Liked not having to drive downtown to enjoy a downtown-like meal in a really nice restaurant.

We enjoyed our anniversary dinner at The Pear Tree Restaurant. The food was excellent; our server, Omar, was knowledgeable, personable and efficient. It was a delight to see Scott and Stephanie again.
We shared an appetizer and a dessert and were quite satisfied with both. The game hen and salmon were excellently prepared.

Another marvelous dinner at the Pear Tree! The smoked salmon appie was fantastic, the lobster "cappucino" is among the best things I've ever eaten, anywhere, and the scallops and salad were wondeful, too. The service was impeccable, and all three generations of our family enjoyed themselves! Thanks to the whole Pear Tree team.

My niece was graduating from Med school. Her kidneys had failed and she was awaiting a kidney transplant. We notified them in advance of the situation asked if they could create a meal of vegetables. There was no communication to the affect that they could not do so.
When we arrived, they gave her a vegetarian menu (every dish was grain based or contained cheese.) The waiter asked her what her situation was. (A bit insensitive.) Said he would see what he could do. I told him I was allergic to potatoes and asked for a substitution of butternut squash which was shown with 3 other dishes on the menu. Same response. He never came back and told us. He just arrived with the plates. Mine-no substitute. Just an increase of fiddle-heads. Even if there were potatoes the dish had no flavour. No balance of taste and very little contrast of texture. It was bland halibut on a white sauce with fiddle heads and even lacked salt and pepper. My niece ended up coping with a rice dish and picked most of the things out of it.
I realize how frustrated chefs must be by people's limitations. That is why I feel if they are communicated in advance, they can easily decline. But when they accept, people deserve more consultation than this waiter provided. He questioned us like he was going to diagnose what was appropriate for us to eat. Rather than saying what could you eat and then see if that was possible and if not tell us what was coming.

I had the scallops & risotto as appy - both were cooked to perfection with just the right amount of crust and tooth. The main was the sous vide pork belly - again, perfectly done, and the pea shoot salad was great as a palate cleanser between bites. Highly recommended for a taste of west coast Canadian cuisine.

My husband and I have dined at Pear Tree regularly for the last five years. The food is fantastic, of high quality and superbly prepared. If you've not been there before, it is a great experience. As a regular, however, I find the lack of seasonal offerings or changing of the menu from time to time to be disappointing. We will not be going back, but only out of boredom with the unchanging menu.

We were looking for a good restaurant to celebrate our 30th anniversary. This one came highly recommended by friends. The food was great, the service was good. The only complaint is that the portions are a little small.

Dining at pear tree was an amazing experience the food is full of flavour, executed very well with some great techniques. The dinning room is a nice size for a quiet place to dine with a few friends or a date. Great front of house service.

I've been going to this restaurant for many, many years. My husband and I went there for one of our first fancy dates when we were very young, and we've been dining there at least once a year ever since. The Pear Tree never disappoints me. Stephanie and Scott are gracious and kind. The food is always delicious. The ambience is perfect for a date night or celebration dinner. This place is a hidden gem, and I'm lucky to have found it early in life so I've been able to enjoy it for years, and hopefully for many years to come.

This was our third dinner at the Pear Tree and, as with the first two times, we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. There were five of us, and we tried four different entrees: the beef tenderloin/short rib combo, steelhead, Cornish game hen, and a vegetarian option - enjoyed them all. The tenderloin/shortrib was a real standout. The service was helpful and attentive, but not overly so, and our waiter, though very professional, had a good sense of humour. We would definitely recommend the Pear Tree for a special occasion or romantic dinner.

As first time diners at Peartree all four of us agreed we had never had a better dish anywhere than the beef tenderloin = all of us have dined at Hy's, Ruths Chris and other high end dining places. Perhaps the only tiny downside was that one of our party wished there were more of it, however this is after all, a French restaurant.....Cheers

Gin tomato soup with chive whipped cream for me, orange caramelized scallops with double smoked bacon risotto for my wife. Each had a taste of each others. Taste, texture, presentation and portion size perfect. For mains: my wire had slow cooked ‘Maple Hill’ chicken breast with confit leg, warm Canadian grains and roasted sunchoke, my was chargrilled organic ‘Blue Goose’ beef tenderloin with 36 hour braised Short Rib and Sieglinde potatoes. Tasty and again with very good presentation. Chicken juicy and beef done to my request of medium rare.
Room enough for dessert. Chocolate ganache with a crisp nut base, salted caramel and
orange chocolate sorbet with that sweet, salty and crunchy combination for my wife. I choose
fresh lemon tart with lemon sour cream sorbet, the tart pastry best I have had, presentation
with caramel fan, better than the lemon tart from the French Laundry. The lemon tart could use just a bit more tartness and sorbet that I could eat all day.
Congratulations to hostess, servers and kitchen staff for another night to remember.

Once again we had a great dinner at the Pear Tree This has become our "go-to" restaurant for special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries, etc. The food is fabulous and so is the service.

Without question, The Pear Tree is Burnaby's finest restaurant. Scott Yaeger continues to impress after more than a decade in Burnaby. No matter what, order his lobster cappuccino (seasonally changes to prawn cappuccino), which is his masterpiece appetizer.

Every aspect of the meal is superb, including the desserts.

One place for upgrade: time to switch over to local craft beers from the dated imports beer list. But a very small quibble.

Celebrated my boyfriend's birthday here. It is a small restaurant, couldn't get reservations except for 530pm. Very small restaurant and can be easily missed driving down Hastings.

Service was good, portions look small but we left very full. Awesome service as well.

Three of us went here for a celebratory dinner. We had the steak, lamb and rabbit (along with the scallop and soup appetizers). All three main courses were fantastic, the service great, wait staff knowledgeable, and the presentation very hip. Though it was pricy, we thought it was good value because the portions were decent and the meat exceptional. Would definitely go here again!

I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The service was great! Our server was attentive and helped with menu questions and selections . The food was amazing. I recommend the caramelized orange scallops, the steelhead, and the pear sorbet for dessert! The menu wasn't overpriced which is rare for a restaurant of such high quality. There's a reason Pear Tree made the top 10 restaurants list in all of Canada for 2015. I will be telling anyone who will listen about this place.

I was very pleased with the service and the quality of food. I ordered chicken and it was perfectly cooked. The bread they serve is heavenly. It is baked from scratch at the restaurant. I asked to buy a loaf and when i left they gave me a loaf ON THE HOUSE! My spouse ordered the lobster bisque and it was the best she ever had!

My only criticism is the ceasar salad. I was unimpressed. It did not have any anchovy flavor at all. It was tasteless. But overall i loved the food and the non pretentous yet professional service.

I went to the Pear Tree restaurant for a dinner with a friend and his wife. The service was exceptional from the moment t I walked through the door to the moment we left.
We did not think our food could possibly be as good as was described by our waiver but it truly was.
Attention to detail from the people sitting at the table to the food at the table.
I am from across the country but I loo forward to my dining experience at The Pear Tree every time.

A work colleague mentioned this restaurant to me and I decided to bring my sister here when she was visiting from out of town. The restaurant was accommodating to our request and we were able to divide many dishes to sample more menu items. Everything was delicious and my sister and I were very impressed. It would also be great for a girls' night out or a romantic date. Worth the drive and will definitely be returning.
