Sorry to see Pear leave. We had the tater tots, the smoked gouda fondue, pear quesadilla, brussels sprouts, chicken and waffles, and the hangar steak. All of the items were delicious. We have been to Pear before and this was probably our last time as they are closing. Go now before they close!!

The Tater Tots are a MUST....Meatloaf was a huge portion and was a nice take on a classic comfort food. Overall the restaurant was good. Decent prices, nice riffs on comfort foods. I would go again.

Can't believe that it took us 3 years to try The Pear. It's a weird location tucked in behind the River Front building and the layout of the restaurant is even stranger. But... the food was great and the price was reasonable. We each tried something different as I was reviewing the restaurant for my Napa Valley travel services. I had the Chicken and Dumplings, my wife the Chicken and Waffle, and my daughter the French Dip. It was a toss up between the two chicken dishes. Au jus for FD was a bit greasy and our least favorite dish. Ended the meal with some kind of hot cookie and ice cream desert split 3 ways and it was a perfect ending.

Now the bad news... As we were paying the bill, we were informed that as of 1/31/17 the restaurant was closing. Nobody was sure why, but if I were to guess, the location and especially the layout of the interior (lack of table space) would be the reason.

Wonderful, creative and soulful place! Just very sad it will be closing 1/31/17😫😣😔. The Napa quake is still taking victims 2 years later 😖😭.

I love the style of the resturant. The instruments on the wall bring everything together and let you know what your in for. We had the FRENCH ONION SOUP & shared the CHICKEN AND WAFFLES. Both plates were AMAZING! The c&w is a pretty good size. It comes with 1 big waffle and 1 chicken breast. If you have a bigger appetite you should order your own but for us it was good to share. The French onion soup was so flavorful and soo warm!! Great to eat on that cold rainy day.

We had a great experience. Unbeknownst to us, Tuesday was "Fat Tuesday" night and we got half price on the jambalaya and draft beers. Everything was delicious and the service was friendly but not overbearing.

We came here for lunch on a cold weekend day and it was freezing inside. My husband enjoyed a poboy sandwich and I ordered a pan seared salmon, which was cooked to perfection. Service could have been more attentive. Overall, good enough experience to come back.

We came here for lunch and they have a very nice selection. We were visiting from TX so Southern food caught our attention. It did not disappoint. We each ordered the shrimp po'boys which were fantastic. A lot of shrimp on the po'boy. I also liked that it came with soup instead of fries. The soup was a tomato soup which was perfect for a chilly day of wine tasting. The plate was more than I could finish; very nice value for what you paid for. Recommend! Would like to come back and try the chicken and dumplings which were not on the lunch menu.

Great local take on southern cuisine. The meat loaf with mashed potatoes, peas and carrots, topped with crispy onions is enough to choke a horse - huge portion! As is the chicken and waffles - it feeds two! Very generous corkage price of $10 as well. There is something on the menu for everyone!

Party of 4 after a concert. It was a Sunday evening and almost empty. Service was pleasant and professional. Food met our expectations. Meal with drinks was a bit pricey--but not overly so. I would return on a warm summer day and sit out side.

A second visit for lunch, this time in November and too cold to sit outside. Still a good atmosphere and both food and service as good as we remembered from our summer visit.

We visited Napa from Virginia and ate at The Pear on a Sunday afternoon. The experience was fantastic. I thoroughly enjoyed the shrimp and grits -- the bacon-wrapped prawns were stunningly delectable -- and the tater tots. My wife ordered the crab artichoke dip as an entree and couldn't finish it; good portion and very tasty. We finished with the pear tart which, even as full as we were, didn't last long. Overall, an excellent meal and experience. (Oh, and we fully took advantage of the bottomless mimosas!)

Comfort food elevated. Chicken w dumplings, chicken and waffles, tater tots, fried pickle, and Jambalaya were all fantastic. Large portions, reasonably priced. We'll be back. They were not thinking at all when they designed interior. Concrete floor and tile walls with open kitchen creates a sometimes unbearable noise level. Otherwise a great experience.
